It would make sense why Dottore/The Doctor was rumored to be in Natlan as well and i think it might get messy if he might actually use the Sacred Flame to burn Irmensule, that when Scara/Wanderer sees him in Sumeru then he's gonna make sure Dottore pays for what he did. Might just be a me thing, but when I saw the Capitano vs Mavuika fight scene, he just didn't give of 1st Harbinger vibes at all. I also found it odd how he just appeared out of nowhere, but Dottore on the other hand has done that before, waiting just for the perfect moment to appear.

BUT, at the same time, Capitano stated he's in weaker condition due to his immortality curse rotting his body away. And, Capitano accepted his lost not because he got punch by Mavuika, but he knew he cannot obtain the Pyro Gnosis so further conflict is not necessary.
The irmisul burned probably because of pyro gnosis. That gnosis will use to revive the Pyro Sovereign Dragon to burn Irmisul Tree (What we seen in Sumeru PV). If irmisul tree was destroyed we doesn't know if Heavenly Principle will awaken or something. Irmisul tree is data that collection of all living things in Teyvat. Probably we definitely see Columbina and Dottore while irmisul tree burned.
The destruction of the Irmisul tree would change everything in Tevat. It would mean that the world would have no past to look back on, no present to record, and no future to predict. The mechanism of fate itself would be undone. The being that accomplishes this could remake the world however they see fit. But that begs the question of why the Tsarista is seeking all of the Gnosis' instead of just the Pyro.
im sure this has been menitoned and its a bit of a tangent but, the hydro gnosis is not empty. neuvillete took back the hydro authority that was in the hydro divine throne, not the gnosis, when focalor destroyed the throne. the gnosis was instead being used to accumulate enough energy, in the form of indemnitium, to put this action in motion. after focalor execution, the gnosis deactivated, not because it ran out of juice, but because there was no one to operate it. neuvillette could in theory operate it, but since he has the hydro authority, a power equal or above gnosis, its redundant n therefore why he gives it away to the fatui

i can say, that capitano is a khaenrian that has a strong connection to natlan, reason why he wanted the pyro gnosis is to save natlan from the abyss.
