Thanks, it really does make the layout feel a lot more like it's own little world! I'm so glad we went for a painted backdrop over a photographic one. Thanks for watching 😃
Great fun , you always get the background music right, for me anyway. Congrats to your Dad on the back scene . I always enjoy painting my own and it's very satisfying to do. Can't wait for the exhibition vid...
Thanks, glad you like the music - you'd be surprised how dry and boring the edits can be before the music goes on. Yeah the back scene turned out great, having used a photographic backscene for Pitley last year I was keen not to just use the same thing. As my Dad enjoys painting anyway this seemed like a perfect way for him to contribute to the build. Thanks for watching 🤩
Glad you enjoyed it! I've done a few different videos on laser cutting so far but I have more planned for the future. 3D printing is still very new to me and I'm basically trying it out for the first time with this project. That said, once I'm a bit more confident with it I'd definitely like to do a video (or two) on it as I think it can be really useful for some modellers. Thanks for watching 🤩
Like I said, I've done a few videos on laser cutting for model railways already with more planned for the future. The scale you're working in doesn't really make a difference so the 00 gauge videos are just as applicable as the TT:120 ones. Thanks for watching 👍
Another great video, As always it’s been great to come along with You for the journey, Teaton looks great! What an amazing looking Layout, And it’s been great to see your layouts progress over the years. Also want to say thank You as it’s been great to learn new techniques and it’s been helpful for me making my first layout, So thank You for sharing your progress :)
Thank you! It's definitely been fun to work on a project in a brand new gauge and I'm really glad you've found the videos interesting and informative. There's so many different ways to build model railways that I don't think I'll run out of new ideas and techniques to share any time soon. Thanks for watching 🤩
Thanks! I do like to think I get a little bit better with each layout build. This particular one has certainly thrown some new challenges at me. Thanks for watching 😃
Nice video mate. the layout has come together really nicely. The addition of the town scene and the backscene really finishes off the layout. Looking forward to the next one.
Yeah it's great to have such variety on the layout now with the town scene being such a contrast to the open countryside section. Thanks for watching 😃
Fantastic work on the layout, I think the town section looks very impressive, and it brings the upper level to life, great job on the layout in general 😀
Thanks! It's great to have that scene in place and it's so nice to be able to use the different levels to show off different types of scenes. Thanks for watching 😃
To think that when was small and just starting to take an interest in model railways that all that was really available for scenics was coloured sawdust etc... the range of aggregates, static grass etc available now is quite astonishing. Your skills and techniques have really brought this terrific layout together to so well. The results are really impressive. Nicely done
Yeah it's pretty impressive the amount of variety and quality we have for our scenics these days - certainly makes my job a lot easier! Thanks for watching 🤩
Thanks, I do think it's good to be able to show how a layout goes from bare baseboards to almost done. And there's a few more details still to add too! Thanks for watching 😃
Really glad you enjoy them. There's still a couple of more episodes to go - Episode 12 is actually available for Members right now if you want to check it out. Thanks for watching 🤩
The layout looks great and your dad's back ground turned out nicely. Wish I could paint that well. Looking for to episode 12. There always seems to be litte details to add no matter what even if you think your finished. GOD BLESS from America 🚂💕🚂💕🚂💕🚂💕🚂💕
The backscene is great and really brings the overall scene to life! He learnt to paint entirely from watching tutorials on TH-cam and apparently, just like model railways, some of the techniques are really quite simple to grasp. Thanks for watching 😃
It's well worth consideration if you're looking for a new scale to model in. Definitely provides lots of options for modelling in a small space without being as fiddly as N Gauge. Thanks for watching 😃
Fantastic stuff! Really enjoying the series and impressed with the final results given the time constraints. However, I keep wondering, where are the trees?! I know I'm nit-picking but I really feel a few trees here and there would add an extra dimension to the layout for relatively little effort.
Ok I'm throwing my Dad under the bus here. 6 months ago when I started the layout he said he wanted to make some trees, so I left him to it thinking they'd be ready by the time I got round to the scenics... oh how foolish was I 😅 There will be some trees on the layout eventually... I just don't know when! Thanks for watching 🤩
@@ThatModelRailwayGuy haha OK! That explains it! Sorry, to be negative! Again love the series. Hope you're dad is enjoying the layout, that's the most important thing.
Thanks! As I said in the video the cottages weren't painted. The grey is the colour of the resin that it came in and all we did was wipe some filler into the stonework relief and let it dry. Hope that helps and thanks for watching 😃
Great informative video as always - on a completely different topic do you know when you will have oo gauge dry stone wall and line side fencing back in stock in your shop. Thanks
Another excellent video! I haven’t watched all your videos on this layout so you may covered already my question which is. How did you reverse the steam locomotive into the station?
Hi there, the layout has a reversing loop built into it which allows you to change the direction of a train or locomotive. I cover it more in the early episodes (specifically episode 2) when the track was being laid. Thanks for watching 😃
There's actually a smoke generator fitted in the chimney but I never got it working consistently so I didn't want to include it in the video until I've sorted it out. Thanks for watching 😃
As with all the other projects you've done I've thoroughly enjoyed this one, is there more to do or is this the last video? Also are you going to start anything new in the near future? I really hope so.
Really glad you enjoyed it David. There's two more videos in this series - if you look at the end of this one there's a teaser for the next episode which features the exhibition and adding more detailing to the layout. As for any new projects, not immediately no. I need to take a bit of a break first as these big layout projects are time consuming, expensive and exhausting. I'm sure I'll do something else at some point but not right now - there will still be regular videos every week though. Thanks for watching 😃
Hello, I am thinking of using Specialist Aggregates products as described in this series. I am trying to understand how much do I need. Do you have any "measurements" for this? Something like weight per square? Thanks is advance
Hi there, I don't have any specific measurements myself but I will say that they're pretty generous with the amounts they give you. If you're generally using them for little areas like I have on this layout then the smaller bags are probably fine. If you have any doubts though maybe drop Specialist Aggregates a quick email... from my experience they're very enthusiastic about helping modellers and can probably give you a better answer than I can. Thanks for watching 😃
Hey i have a question whats a good online retailer for starters cuz i would like to start getting into modeling at some point and was wondering if you had any recommendations
Rails Of Sheffield is great for those just starting out: railsofsheffield.com/?ref=TMRG They have a wide range covering everything you need in all the major scales. I like using Derails too: derails.co.uk Great service and a lot to choose from although perhaps not as complete as a larger retailers like Rails Of Sheffield in some areas. For full disclosure, both of these retailers have sponsored videos on this channel but the reason I work with them is because I do genuinely recommend them. Thanks for watching 😃
They're more than welcome to leave a comment letting us know how they got on, I'd definitely be interested to know too. Obviously with model railways not everyone is going to be at the scenic stage yet so it might be a while but fingers crossed. Thanks for watching 🤩
No, it's a bit difficult to cost out as in some cases it was more expensive than it would normally be due to the speed it was being built at. But similarly in some cases it was cheaper since some things were provided by various brands. Thanks for watching 😃
Will you be doing a series going back to your previous layouts and going into super fine details aka figures litter, staging signs posts and all the likes
I don't think so. All the previous layouts (aside from Pickwick Yard) have most of that sort of detailing already. There might be enough stuff on Pitley for a single video but not a series unless I really stretched it out. But I have a bigger project in mind for that layout anyway. Thanks for watching 😃
Nice, happy birthday! I was never good at Rubik's cube... didn't have the patience. Model railways on the other hand though.... 😅 Thanks for watching 👍
Watch Episode 12 here: th-cam.com/video/0Qhi3KkiStY/w-d-xo.html 😃
Looking just great, here. As others have commented, the backdrop really makes the layout come alive. Congrats to you both on this project.

You have done a fantastic job of this layout. All you need is a Fred Dibnah on that large factory chimney.
