It was an okay play. Some of the puzzles were kinda uninspired compared to the usual silent hill fair. The story was my main issue, the part where you find out about his father was so damn cheesy. It just tried too hard to be "disturbing" and felt forced by a bad writer
I played the games in release order and was actually amazed at the improvements they made, like being able to look out the window to the streets from inside the hospital window. It was a decent game but definitely not as scary after playing the panic-inducing SH3. Last I checked with the community though, I saw one of the criticisms was that they ruined Lisa, because I guess they didn't know she was a drug addict in the first game?
@@nadermanna Best of the Best, i doubt about that, the Game is good compared with the other post TEAM SILENT games. But in general, Origins have several issues about the plot and story. For example, the game suggest Alessa is Evil just like the movie and the Town was always a Ghost Town. Meanwhile, in the first Game, many dialogues explain the people of the Town dissapear hours before Harry Mason and Cheryl arrive to the Town and Alessa is a good person, trying to stop the Cult's plan putting the Seal of Metatron many places. And finally, the main problem of this game, according to Sam Barlow (the writer of the story), Silent Hill Origins take place in 1976, but in Silent Hill 1, despite not setting exact dates like every TEAM SILENT game, there are many easter eggs, references and venues that establish the Game occurs after 1987, the perfect example is in the Sagan St. in the Business District of the first game, there is a shop that says "....FANS, since 1987".

Took a while like the first live action silent hill film for me to hook up to the silent hill franchise. So finally got the courage to play silent hill origin and to get the full expererience got my headphones 100 volume and i was in a dark silent room for me to experience the full effect like the game was and scared shit out of me but put on a brave face and push on. Must say there was an effect happening and i say i only finish it once for the psycho it give me. Re 3 gives me scared but had me in good vibe with nemesis jump scared but silent hill felt like i was in breaking of holding far from not psycho inside mind of the game.
You channel is gold. I considered myself as a huge SH and RE fan who knows this games all secrets but after watching yours videos I always find that I dont know about half of stuff. My mind was blown when you mentioned scrubs. Great video as always. Love you content.
In the original game, when you watch the CG montage at when you first boot the game up, you see a part where Lisa starts walking away, with Kaufman running up behind her and grabbing her arm, with Lisa whipping around and yelling at him. There's no context or audio for it since there's only music, but adds to the animosity between them.

I remember complaining about how dark some areas are when I played the PS2 version. A video about some major fan theories would be interesting as well.
I played this back in 2012. Since I wasn't into the SH games yet, I kinda liked this title; but after seeing the rest of the series unfold, my appreciation grew even more since it was the first one not developed by Team Silent
I had this on PS2 and beat it many times, and I don't recall any serious graphical problems. I used the night vision goggles often, especially in the sanitarium. Speaking of the sanitarium, that place was actually scary compared to most locations in SH games. The threatre was also an excellent part of the game, especially with the Tempest theme. And it's heavily insinuated that Travis had some serious problems and was probably a psychopathic serial killer.
This is incredible: same story here. Played a few years ago: meh. Got a psp very recently and played it 2 weeks ago, and now I find it a very very good game.
It's definitly the closest to a classic silent hill game within the list of western developed SH titles... but I just can't deal with how much of the story they retcon or just straight up screw up in Origins.
Sure, it makes sense that he can punch, but it's still stupid from a game play perspective. Harry, James, Heather, and ever Henry never had to punch because they had a list of melee weapons that they could use, that you know... DIDN'T break like they were made of glass or something x-x.
@@aliciafraser1835 I always thought they should be able to punch and kick. It also seems to heavily imply that Travis is a bit more on the tougher side than previous protagonists (I also think Aex Sheppard should of had his fists as an option as well)
@@rosssnyder4490 Eh, I guess I just have a strong aversion to Travis, specifically because he's very clearly a fanfiction insert. Every game Tom Hullet worked on tried to make him more and more central to the Lore, and it became annoying. That aside, even not taking that into consideration I feel punching and kicking in a game like this is just pointless, especially when you've already got a melee weapon. What even would be the point? It'd just be wasted resources.
@@aliciafraser1835 I don't really see Travis as an obvious fan fic character. I know that on the surface he seems like a pale imitation of James & the Butcher of Pyramid Head, but its superficial at best. There are several key differences that separates them from James & Pyramid Head.
@@rosssnyder4490 I'm not calling him an imitation of anyone, I'm calling him a bad character that was shoe horned into the series because the devs thought he was "Cool" For crying out loud they even pushed him into Homecoming, implying he's some sort of dimension hopper (Which doesn't make sense in and of itself, considering neither silent hill nor the other world are seperate dimensions) but he can just go where ever he wants cause he's the special character that gets to do whatever now. It's like he was set up to be some sort of pivotal character to the series when all his original story does is retcon the heck out of the games that came before his.
Now I would've loved to see that UFO Ending for origins where Snake was just having a bad dream. Man that honestly would've been funny....should've kept it as another joke ending like how Silent Hill 2 has the UFO and Dog Ending
Did you notice the dressing room at 8:25 closely resembles the dressing room in Parasite Eve? I think that's where you're attacked by a mutated parrot!
When i got interested in the series, i played all the games in chronological order. I started with Origins, then the first game, Shattered Memories and so on. Playing these three games in a roll makes you attached to Alessa and all the pain she went through, and all the connections between Origins and the first really makes you invested in the story. And then in SM when you see the same characters in a more realistic world is really interesting.
oh, a really nice video! and wow, learning about all the hidden stuff is giving me a newfound appreciation for this game. SH 4 was the first silent hill game I randomly picked for my new ps2 when I was a kid and have really fond memories. despite all the glitches haha
I think Travis was based of the real life Travis Walton, from the alien abduction film "Fire In The Sky." They dress exactly the same and it would fit in with the ufo lore of Silent Hill
I love your videos! I definitely think you should make videos on theories of the monsters in Silent Hill, cos you mentioned the Butcher and how one of the theories is its supposed to be Travis
@@vovin8132 the creator of Pyramid Head confirmed this mutiple times on Twitter. As for the red and yellow gods, there's really no evidence for that. I've read those discussions and they're mostly just reaching. PH was created by James because he needed to be punished. His look was based off the Red Devil, the executioner who used a red hood to kill people. The creature similar to Pyramid Head on Homecoming is not PH himself, it's called Boogeyman and it's supposed to punish people from the cult, but it's mostly Fan service.
@@arthurdossantos6826 There are tons of evidence for the red and yellow gods. It is very blatant in the game lore because they have displayed both of them. Personally, I always viewed Valtiel as yellow and PH as red, but I remember watching some analyses that made strong arguments to the contrary. The Butcher is pretty much the same entity as Pyramid Head, just interpreted differently; he clearly represents some kind of split, which is probably Travis' split personality.
IMO, SH0 is the most underrated game in the series. It's a worthwhile entry, and it pays respect to the previous games without trying too hard to be a carbon copy of the most popular ones (IE 2 & 3). Also, I really like the look of the final boss, which makes sense in the context of the rest of the series and it's place in the timeline.
That stuff with Travis being tied to the bed, plus the idea of him turning into Pyramid Head, that's kind of reminiscent of Homecoming's story, right? That game starts with what's-his-face being strapped to a gurney, and one of the endings turns him into Pyramid Head
There is no "Mark of Samael", that was a lie told by Dahlia in order to trick Harry into stopping Alessa; the crest that you see around Silent Hill in the first game is in fact the Seal of Metatron... And yet, the bonus flashlight isn't the Seal of Metatron either, it is the Halo of the Sun from SH3, a crest that represents rebirth.
IMO when Harry met Lisa in the first game Lisa already died. The Lisa that Harry saw is a creature "made" by the town, similar to Maria. It can be born from the soul of the real Lisa or just completely different being.
PSP ver. owner here. Silent Hill 0 was the second ever SH game I've ever played to completion (SH4 was my first), and I have to say that, despite its flaws and despite that it's very much overshadowed by SH1, 2, and 3, it holds a very near and dear place in my heart as one of my favorites in the series, and I'll always defend it for being probably one of the better post Team-Silent games that was made, including Shattered Memories.
Doing this for some of the more hated games would be cool too. Just because the game is bad (subjectively) doesn't mean that the hidden content is bad.
I like your videos because in top 10 easter eggs you include much more information about other things and it feels like i'm watching "here are 100 things you didn't know". I respect that.
Still the only Silent Hill game I have ever beat. Any other time I've tried to play them, my systems would die or in the case of the first one on the xbox 360, the disc just exploded in the system. So by default this is my favorite Silent hill game!
i’ll never forget one time i played black ops for a few hours and my 360 started making a loud screeching sound, took out my disc and that fucker looked like someone carved into it with a knife
Try Shaterred Memories, is not canon but his storyline is very deep and envolving, and is completly different of the others in the game series in the gameplay.
Silent Hill is one of my top 5 favorite series of all time. This is the only one I’ve never played yet. Thanks for being one of the few channels that still respects the beautiful works of art held within this series. 🖤
The Lisa Garland Scene in the theater with Travis wanting to run away reminds me a lot of a scene in Mulholland Drive when she is trying out for a movie scene with a creepy old man.
Played Silent Hill 0 om PSP back in the day, although I used to prefer Silent Hill as a trilogy of 1, 2 and 3, I still liked this game for what it was & it felt at home within the original story. It being a portable game kind of takes away the immersion without headphones yet still; the gameplay, visual design and story made it fit the canon nicely and the soundtrack was excellent.
I got Origins and my PSP years ago for my 16th birthday. It was my introduction to Silent Hill, and I played it over and over, and would "speed run it". After playing Silent Hill 1-4 I realized how flawed this game is, and how poorly it stands up with the rest of the series. I haven't played it in years, but it still holds a special place in my heart. 2 and 3 are probably my favorites in the series. Great video!
Great findings. However, NVG is actually useful. When used, turn off the radio and noise effect. You can spot monsters from afar and take them out (or avoid them) without them seeing you.
I only play silent hill 0 on PS2, I was lucky because I didn’t encounter any glitches. My favourite things about silent hill origin were grab the tv and throw to enemies, and the monster who was just the shadow found in the asylum
First thing I have to say is that none of the glitches appeared when I played SH0 on my PS2 (neither the real one nor on the Emulator). Second: I luckily got the Night-Vision-ish outfit because I barely used the flashlight when I played the game on the emulator. The reason was simply that the GPU-accelerated output was not able to handle the reflections correctly - only the software-renderer could do that, but my PC was too slow for that. Third: you gave Travis his own #1 toppic and teached me a lot about him. But you forgot to mention that he appeared also in SH:Homecomming. Still a great video!
This was a fun video. I'd read about the early, dark comedy version of Origins, but hadn't heard or seen this much about it. Folks slam the game so much, but they don't know how much they lucked out. XD Origins was, like, 90% of why I got a PSP and I binged it for aaaages. I would play through the whole thing once a day once I got the hang of it and collected eeeeverything.
dude, you should check out Twin Perfect's series on Silent Hill. they dig deep into everything that has to do with the franchise to give viewers the real Silent Hill experience.
butcher's symbol make sense to me, pyramid head (or butcher) in silent hill 2 was actually a monster side of james sunderland wich had sexual frustration and pyramid head had sexual behaiviors , in this game, he could be the other side of travis's character , it may not be true , but i like to believe it is, cause it is an awesome theory :)

Maybe its time to make a video about full review and summary of each of the series (Resident Evil, Silent Hill, Dino Crisis, etc)? You can talk the connection of the series, the stories, timeline and the lore more. I watch several video about this in youtube, especially the timeline, but most of the videos literally really talk about timeline, without summaries all the lore and what connection they had. I watched almost of your videos, and I quite like when you narrated the stories, especially when you talk about the easter eggs and the secrets, and it quite fun if you narrated the full lore of the series. People will said *Why don't you read it in RE wikia page?* , well I already read it, but it would be fun if watching it with full complete stories.
I think the one reference everyone seems to overlook about Travis is that he looks almost like Kurt Russels character Jack Burton from John Carpenters Big Trouble In Little China. It’s just my opinion.

My favorite butcher theory is that he's basically Travis's pyramid head. Only he gets to see that version of what some theorize to be one of the two deity angel-demons of the cult that aims to birth their God.

I actually really enjoyed the PS2 version of the game. The monster designs were excellent, and while yeah, the story was kinda meh overall, it was a lot of fun. Never experienced any of the glitches, though, thankfully.
actually the Butcher is Travis. The fact he can pick up the weapon the butcher carries one handed along with the bad ending where you hear women screaming for him to stop as well as the butcher admiring photos of his victims in a hotel room Trais can peek into.... It makes sense that he has multiple personality disorder.

@@madeofmeats He's my favourite character for sure. It's too bad that SH didn't go deeper into that generation of the Order at some point like it did with the older ones in Origins. Kaufmann was a top member of the Order, along with Dahlia (I think Kaufmann was actually the biological father of Alyssa, if I recall correctly). Claudia and Vincent displayed the same character dynamic where Claudia was the religious zealot while Vincent was the educated realist who used their position for personal satisfaction. So in many ways, Vincent was much like Kaufmann, but Kaufmann got more screen time.
Vovin Vincent definitely did deserve better treatment. If only he had a few more lines and scenes of him just being him. And when i say more scenes and lines, I don’t mean making him the generic love interest and turning him into a teen dreamboat *cough* Silent Hill: Revelations *cough*

Little did she know i was more interested on resident evil franchise not by a game more scary so i was not very interested on silent hill when that game work. For a time i admire it.
Same here! I played that game when I was 12 years old
same ! I played this when I was 11
You channel is gold. I considered myself as a huge SH and RE fan who knows this games all secrets but after watching yours videos I always find that I dont know about half of stuff. My mind was blown when you mentioned scrubs. Great video as always. Love you content.
DarkPrideVegeta 777 I forgot about resident evil! Yeah I love resident evil ps1 graphics were shit through. Wish they made psp version 😔
Notes
Cartographer outfit is unlocked by looking at map less than 25 times. Is is to be noted that picking a map counts as 1 view
Butcher outfit is unlocked after getting bad ending or killing more than 200 enemies. It was once stated it makes you immune to acid spit attacks but it actually doesn't.
Sprinter outfit is unlocked by finishing game in less than 2 hrs. It gives infinite stamina/no fatigue. This is easily unlocked by having a playthrough and getting the ufo ending
Given their history of movie references, I assume Travis’ last name is a reference to The Shining
Or maybe Taxi Driver
Or yknow just a name
I miss Travis Grady. I wish he can make a comeback one day
I remember complaining about how dark some areas are when I played the PS2 version.
A video about some major fan theories would be interesting as well.
I played this back in 2012. Since I wasn't into the SH games yet, I kinda liked this title; but after seeing the rest of the series unfold, my appreciation grew even more since it was the first one not developed by Team Silent
Gotta say it hold up better than I expected
I really like origins, ALOT more than I like Silent Hill 4, and I love the fact that he can punch, it only makes sense.
I also replayed this on my psp in October for Halloween
Now I would've loved to see that UFO Ending for origins where Snake was just having a bad dream. Man that honestly would've been funny....should've kept it as another joke ending like how Silent Hill 2 has the UFO and Dog Ending
Did you notice the dressing room at 8:25 closely resembles the dressing room in Parasite Eve? I think that's where you're attacked by a mutated parrot!
True
I guess that could be an interesting video. I'll have to really look into it though
It's pretty obvious it's Travis, there's several clues in the game. And Pyramid Head came from James' guilty mind.
@@arthurdossantos6826 That's not true, as PH is in other games. PH is the yellow god (Valtiel is the red god).
I used to play this on my PSP with the lights off in the middle of the night; definitely made it more enjoyable
First SH game I played. Love it to this day. That cut scene where young Travis is trying to give his dad the quarter back always tears me up.
Love this game! One of my favorites in the series. I play it at least 2 or 3 times each year.
@@RNvideosedits Was that the one for the Wii? If so I have it, I played a little of it, but my Wii died.
@@undeadmuffin yes it is, but you can play in the PSP Emulator Too, is the only SH I Beat very times and his story always gets my.
@@undeadmuffin because this game has a lot of endings and different scenes in the gameplay, so its satisfiynd beat more than one time.
The solid snake ending would've been hilarious
Silent Hill is one of my top 5 favorite series of all time. This is the only one I’ve never played yet. Thanks for being one of the few channels that still respects the beautiful works of art held within this series. 🖤
Game was underrated. I never experienced any glitches on the ps2 though. Should’ve included it with the HD collection
I like how dark the PS2 version is, it makes the game more scary.
The Lisa Garland Scene in the theater with Travis wanting to run away reminds me a lot of a scene in Mulholland Drive when she is trying out for a movie scene with a creepy old man.
I love this game so much.
Insteresting, in my case is different.. I enjoy more SH Origins than SH3.
XD
Origins was, like, 90% of why I got a PSP and I binged it for aaaages. I would play through the whole thing once a day once I got the hang of it and collected eeeeverything.
This game series’ music is so iconic!
2:32 thats why I always use nightvision for Travis and I think that's actually an advantage the horror feels even greater
I loved this game. This was my first silent hill game
dude, you should check out Twin Perfect's series on Silent Hill. they dig deep into everything that has to do with the franchise to give viewers the real Silent Hill experience.
butcher's symbol make sense to me, pyramid head (or butcher) in silent hill 2 was actually a monster side of james sunderland wich had sexual frustration and pyramid head had sexual behaiviors , in this game, he could be the other side of travis's character , it may not be true , but i like to believe it is, cause it is an awesome theory :)
Maybe represents Travis Hatred Towards his Mother.
I will never get tired of videos like this! thanks for all you do :)
Your channel is really good and your content is awesome. I hope you get the recognition you deserve.
There was also screen shots of the orginal beta in gameinformer. Great video!
Silent hill origin is in my memories of my childhood we have a psp before and we played it with my cousins. In a dark room and we are in the blanket damnn those are the times
SH Origin is great game for any to start my personal favorite is SH2 but I'm torn between 3 and 4 however I enjoy all the SH games how they are connected great video kai
My first SH game! So many memories...
Awesome vid as always Ink Ribbon - The Butcher also made a cameo in Silent Hill Revelations movie
Honestly, the Ps2 version was the first Silent Hill I ever played and I really enjoyed it, I think it was great, and eventhough later I started playing Silent Hill 2 which is thrilling, I still think this is a great game
Playing this beauty on PS2 made the darkness more enjoyable, it’s what makes Silent Hill what it must be
My first Silent Hill on my psp
Btw my psp is still alive with custom firmware and of course
I have silent hill origins and an emulated version of Silent Hill 1
My psp 1000 has 6.61 pro-c2 firmware
Oh the memories when I first played this game
Same
Thanks for getting me hooked back on to Silent Hill! Cant wait to see what kojima has planned for his next huge horror game title!
I played the PS2 version and for me I never suffered the bugs or glitches only after I scratched my disc but for me the PS2 is awesome and the brightness issue actually made the game more scary for me.
interesting, i never heard of these bugs on the PS2 before. I played the game at least 4 times now on my PS3 60GB and never had those issues
I love this game! I also bought it on PS2 when it came out.
INK RIBBON I hope you read this comment..... I just stumbled onto your channel, and I LOVE IT!! I really like watching the Easter eggs videos on Different video games!!! Please keep up the good work!!
High school memories brought me here. Didn’t realize the ps2 & psp made such a difference I had it for my psp & loved it. I remember the game saying to play with headphones made me kinda nervous 😂
Fuck a remake or reboot of the series, these games just need a really good port to current generation consoles
I would love love love for you to do videos of fan theories and symbolism in the Silent Hill games
Some one told me that game was cursed
Me: every silent hill game look like if you play it you will die in 7 days
Dude I love this game, thanks for making this video.
Another Fantastic video bro!! Keep it up I love watching these after my long ass days man, perfect mix of nostalgia and education
I first played this game on my PSP in 2011 when I was 14. I even have cringy “Let’s Play” video of it that I posted on my Facebook during a snowy day 🤦🏾♂️ lol but this game holds a special place in my heart, first SH game I played. Damn, I miss those times
Please, somebody tell me I'm not crazy. I clearly remember finding a KISS pinball machine at the motel in this game, but I have never been able to find proof of it.
It's in the game room in the motel
Subbed! Watched quite a few of your videos now and only just realised wtf am I doing not subscribed to this guy 🙌 contents top notch bro keep it up your channel deserves way more recognition. 💯
My favorite butcher theory is that he's basically Travis's pyramid head. Only he gets to see that version of what some theorize to be one of the two deity angel-demons of the cult that aims to birth their God.
Weird, i played SHO on ps2 a lot of times and i never found glitches or bugs, actually, the gameplay was very nice and i always enjoyed. Also, the dark ambience make it a way better than psp, at least for my taste, i just love it. Really cool game.
Sigh Silent hill origins i remember this playing when i was 8years old i completed this game for 21 times for the accolades or unlockables best silent hill i've ever played
Waiting for that downpour/shattered memories episode!
Best outsourced SH game
I would love to see Silent Hill games get remastered treatments bc they all need them. I would love to play a version of SH2 where I don’t get lost in the dark corners of the upstairs hallways of the apartment complex so bad that I can’t find my character :(.
please make for homecoming
I actually really enjoyed the PS2 version of the game. The monster designs were excellent, and while yeah, the story was kinda meh overall, it was a lot of fun. Never experienced any of the glitches, though, thankfully.
Holy shit.. I never noticed he was a character in the second Silent Hill movie!
actually the Butcher is Travis. The fact he can pick up the weapon the butcher carries one handed along with the bad ending where you hear women screaming for him to stop as well as the butcher admiring photos of his victims in a hotel room Trais can peek into.... It makes sense that he has multiple personality disorder.
I really liked this SH but really hated the final boss ._.
I feel the same about RE:Revelations 1. SH2 and Homecoming are my favorite SH games along with the original SH. Too bad about PT😪 What could have been is heart breaking.
paperloid07 the final boss was really easy. I always saved all my ammo lol. I was stocked up after, running out of my assault rifle. I still had that other hunting rifle I never used. What were you using to fight him?
@@jmh7773 used the knife because no ammo xD like SH3
paperloid07 Hell yeah it’s going to be hard with a knife. Guns make bosses extremely easy. I get scared is fuck of them ugly bastar*s. I’ll shit my pants if I get close.
I remember unlocking the cartographer accolade by playing the game with a map of the area on my computer screen lol
I find it strange that Travis gets a Vincent outfit of all things. Like, of all the characters to reference, why him?
Because Vincent is an enigmatic character that really deserves more screen time
Vovin I mean true, he is one of the most interesting supporting characters in the series
@@madeofmeats ugh what an awful movie. I sat through it with some friends who thought the first SH movie was cool, and I was that guy who was all like "yeah so in the games this is completely different and that has a different context and Pyramid Head's head was a trapezoid blah blah blah"
You should do top 10 secrets and Easter eggs for Parasite Eve and/or Fatal Frame if you haven't done so yet. Love the content!
This game is so good, sure, traditional...But scary and a lot of fun.
I just dont understand how you mess up the origins of the fire. She set it off herself to ruin the ritual and split herself in two, so why do they show Dhalia cackling like a witch after causing it herself? It ruins her entire plan!
Dont get me started on Kaufmans egyptian tomb room with James Bond knock out gas. It couldve been worse but it wasnt that great.
This was an awesome game and it was cool playing silent hill portably
Travis Grady, The most badass main character in the series.
