      That's bound to happen, by no fault of the writers. If you ever played a tabletop RPG campaign, you will know that if they care enough, the players will almost always come up with a better story than what the GM had planned, simply because there are several of them, but only one GM. It's the same here, just instead of 1 versus 4 or 5, it's a few tens versus hundreds of thousands.

      Most likely, we don't have the pressure they have to make the game, and as the comment above says, a lot of people are giving ideas.
      Also is very easy to come up with ideas than in theory sound good, but who knows how difficult is to actually put them on practice.

    Concerning Solas's nature as a god, and the Guardian Wolves:
    It seems more like he was the General of Mythal's "wolf" guardians to me. Many of the wolf statues we see from the time of the ancient elves are guarding a statue of Mythal, and there's usually more than one around her. I think Solas was a trusted source of Wisdom, and a friend to Mythal, but not an Evanuris himself - or at least not yet. He was high-ranking but still a subordinate until he rebelled and removed her vallaslin.
    "Bare-faced but free, frolicking fighting, fierce. He wants to give wisdom, not orders."
    It's just like the Wisdom spirit that is forced to fight, against its nature, that twists into Pride and rebels against it masters. "All New, Faded For Her" is an anagram after all: "Dread Wolf, Fenharel".
    And in the story of Fen'harel with Andruil and the Tree, he does seem to have a closer relationship to the Evanuris AND the Forgotten Ones than most elves might, but is still treated as more of a toy or plaything; again suggesting he wasn't a god himself at that time.
    It's also possible that the Orb of Destruction isn't actually his, but was given to him by Mythal, or taken by him after her death. Revealed through a datamine, the orb was called Mythal's Orb in the game files. But datamining is always a sketchy way to get clues, and even if that was the original intention, the writers could have changed that plot point later in development. Still, fun to think about!
    So maybe Solas was Mythal's champion, and is still fighting for her ideals - only regarded as a god himself in retrospect by the elves that survived the Veil? Or he earned his godhood like Ghilan'nain at some point before the Veil? But I think it's unlikely that wolves were Solas's champions, given that wolf statues are either alone, or in pairs that protect something else.

    I have been in the "Elves were originally spirits" camp for a long time. Your hypotheses largely seem sound and touch on a lot of things I've speculated about as well, but I'm not sure I agree entirely with everything you suggest. For example, I don't think Solas is completely sundered from the Dread Wolf. I think they are still connected, with Solas being the physical form of the entity known as Fen'harel and the Dread Wolf being the spiritual form. I think Solas can choose to appear either as the Dread Wolf or the elven dude as he wishes - especially since his power up after absorbing Mythal or whatever he did - but probably it's very difficult to manifest as the Dread Wolf in the "real world" while the Veil is up since it’s the spirit form. That being said, in Tevinter Nights, it is strongly suggested that the Dread Wolf was manifesting in the real world - perhaps all the magic released in that ritual by the sacrificial slaughter of slaves helps by thinning the Veil there. And the Dread Wolf's speech in the Mortalitasi's Tale is in the Hallelujah cadence that is associated with Solas. YOU MEDDLE PAST YOUR UNDERSTAND- (8 syllables) / -ING, FOOLISH MORTAL MAGES, AND (8 syllables) / IN DOING SO, YOU THREATEN ALL CREATION. (11 syllables) / YOU USE MY IDOL CARELESSLY (8) / TO VANDALIZE THE SEA OF DREAMS. (8) / NOW FEEL THE PAIN OF WHAT YOU HAVE CREATED. (11) / FROM THIS MOMENT (4) / SHOULD YOU EVER (4) / BIND A SPIRIT (4) / THEN YOUR LIFE IS MINE. (5)
    I could go on at length about why I also think there's a case to be made that the Veil may not exactly have *physically* separated the elves (and humans and qunari) from their spirit selves but it is late and I need to sleep!

    Ahh love these theories! Got me thinking about applying the grey warden method of killing the archdemon to the dread wolf form and whether, as an inquisitor who held Solas' power (and maybe even a soul shard like Mythal did with the locket!) in their mark, would be the only one "tainted" enough to kill it and bring the soul into themselves. It would be such a sad way for the inquisitor to go but I think it would make sense; it would link back to both sacrificing your warden in origins as well as the whole Solas doesn't want to die alone script- the inquisitor as his friend, enemy or lover would join him as well :(

    Personally I like the theory of the old gods being the champions of the Evanuris. That way the Evanuris are still trapped in the fade. I feel like it would make for a better story in the long term. Plus it would make sense as too why Mythal would want their souls preserved. As the Evanuris betrayed her. But their champions would be bound to follow them and not have a choice. If the old gods were the Evanuris Mythal and Solas likely would want them destroyed as they both still seem to hold a grudge.

    this is hardly related to the video but.. does anyone think it would be interesting to see a previous hero turn against the DA4 protagonist/side with the antagonist at least for an intense mission or battle? like, if you insure that your inquisitor drank from to well - maybe they will fight for mythal if it comes down to it?

    • @Keriga
      @Keriga 2 ปีที่แล้ว +16

      That would be both awesome and heartbreaking in the same time. Leaving Hawke behind in the fade was hard enough, but actually having to fight a former protagonist would be even harder... and I love it xD I love when games tug at my heartstrings xD Still, I do have the feeling that if the Inquisitor did drink from the well (as mine did), something bad will eventually happen. Perhaps she (or he) will eventually be forced to fight for Mythal no matter what and the next protagonist will have to strike her/him down. Perhaps she/he will even ask for the next hero to do it, before they lose control of themselves completely. I hope not though, at least not before she/he gets a proper closure with Solas.

    Loved your summary on the nature of spirits/demons! I personally view them in the same way you'd view a knife: they're like a blank tool that can be used to provide, to create, and to save, while also being something that can be turned into pain, destruction, and death. A knife is both while still being neither fully. Spirits and demons are shaped by their touches with living beings, as the encounter with the Wisdom spirit seems to illustrate this. It makes me wonder if there would ever be a way to turn a stronger demon back to a "pure" purpose? I'd love to see a path for that with a high-leveled mage perhaps as a story-turning opportunity in the next game!

    Yes! It's always so exciting when you post a new video. I loved the progression of interconnecting theories.
    The only thing I can think to add is I feel like there could be a connection between Andraste and Mythal. I believe the story goes that Andraste prayed and sang to the gods but none would answer her save for the Maker. She swore to pray to none other than the Maker and later began her crusade against the Imperium. To me, this sounds similar to the ancient elves swearing themselves to the service of one of the Evanuris. It's also a little like if the Inquisitor drank from the Well; they became Mythal's servant and were subject to her will. What if it was Mythal, not the Maker, that answered her prays, then set Andraste on the path of vengeance? That Andraste had only daughters seems similar to the Flemeth and her daughters too, as you already mentioned.

    This was ABSOLUTELY FANTASTIC. One principal piece of information that I LOVE - the disconnection of omnipotency by splintering entities of their entirety on all planes of existence. (Some Gnostic creation mythos in there too) Portions of them may be omnipotent, but most can effectively be 'ended.' (Note I didn't say killed.) Speculations lie ahead...
    Perhaps Mythal is whatever she is because of being murdered by the other gods before the veil was created. Maybe that affected her being in ways that the others were not. Maybe she survived by some unforeseen cataclysm that left her connected to herself in ways that the others are not - like the forming of the veil. Imagine dividing your living room into 3 bedrooms, each with doors to each other, each with a segment of the person who owns the house. One for the fade, the material world, and the beyond. While the others' were 'locked', one of Mythal's doors were open because she wasn't bound to form, and in walking through it, she was able to connect to pieces of herself that she can move to and from herself as she deems. But she can't be whole until the veil is destroyed, as can be said for the rest of the gods. "So long as the music plays, we dance." I don't know but I'm stoked to see how it all comes together, and how it all ends. If they do end up turning the 'bedrooms back into a living room' in DA4, it will mean all new lore, new limitations, new freedoms, new morals and ethical responsibilities, new enemies, new friends, and new challenges.

      So when the HOF killed Flemeth, would a piece of Mythal been destroyed or?

      @DarynAlsup 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@thewarden3554 Think of it like a note you leave for yourself. The pen is still writing on other notes, but the note you've already written is Flemeth. Flemeth talks as herself to the HoF but then at the camp near kirkwall in DA2 she says "Must I be in one place at a time? Bodies are such limiting things..." that is Mythal talking and hinting at the fact that she is in more places than one. Therefore, Flemeth is unbound from Mythal when you meet her in DAO. She maybe tied in someway like the well of sorrows ties, and she can remember memories of and actions taken by Mythal (having hosted her), but as for power - I think the reason Mythal moves her "form" has to do with events and situations that she has been setting up for a VERY VERY VERY long time (through countless willing daughters and followers). "Sometimes a shove....." Which leads me to also believe that Morrigan's dark ritual is considered cannon (as if Mythal has intended for 'Flemeth" to die, (like she may have as Andraste as well) for Morrigan to think she needed to kill her mother...) because a Goddess would know the way of men and women thousands of lifetimes over... And in the same way that Flemeth could recall Mythal's memories, life, power, and form, the being at the end of DAI is a piece but not the whole. And I am certain Solas knows it as well... perhaps that is why he looks that way after absorbing whatever was there in that form of Mythal. It may be possible for Mythal to collect the piece she lost to Solas by using something similar to the ritual in DA2, which she may have completed JUST BEFORE Solas appears in the scene, meaning that Solas in effect moved Mythal by ending the life of that shell... as the HoF did to Flemeth as seen by Mythals appearance in DA2.

    Gonna need some extra tinfoil for this one:
    What if Solas is the Maker?
    What if Andraste held an aspect of Mythal?
    What if Andraste's revolution was Solas's first attempt at tearing down the veil, but if failed when she burned?
    It would give some reasoning for the Ashes having magical capabilities, but I admit it's a pretty far reach.

      I was thinking the same. Lore says that "The Maker created the Veil and then the humans". We know that there is no human records before the veil was created. So it is very possible that Solas is the maker. He made the Veil, and because of his actions (maybe chaos in other lands) the humans arrived to Thedas. Andraste could be like Flemeth, a mage hosting her spirit. Altough she was "married" to the maker so that gets confusing. Because then he should be the god of revenge. Maybe Mythal and Solas had an affair and thats why her husband killed her? And then they got reunited for a while as Solas and Andraste? I kind of remember that Andraste was very pro elf, didnt she have a elf follower? What if he was Solas?

    I agree with almost all of this theory except: I see no evidence that dragons were the form of any other god than Mythal. We see owls, hares, halla, etc. but never dragons when it comes to them. And: when Solas stabs Mythal, we don't see any extra "soul" when she "dies". I think that's because she simply got a piece of herself back when she took Urthemiel from Kieran.
    What really sealed it for me was actually your point about the librarian: she is split into separate aspects of herself, they aren't all the full Mythal: beauty, night, etc. even slaves, are all individual aspects of her complex nature.

Even further, I theorized that the Chantry's story of how Andraste came to be the bride of the maker kinda runs similar to how the Elvhen gods killed Mythal... and possibly with Fen'Harel and Mefareth the betrayer being the one who causes the deaths in both stories. Maybe a stretch there but I'm curious what others think

    My main question/train of thought is what if Solas is wrong? Where Cole was born a human mage embodied by Compassion, what if “Solas” was born an Elvan mage embodying pride; it would explain his desire to see elves at the seat of power and the complete erasure of all of the other races as beings from before the Veil. Cole knew exactly what/who Solas was within their first meeting and through much of the dialogue of wisdom being changed to pride it would make sense that no one truly knows the beginning but are simply clamouring to ensure that they’re the apex predator. (It wouldn’t be the first time a spirit/demon led someone to false idolatry and beliefs of grandeur.)
    The only beings not touched by magic are dwarves but we learn almost immediately that that’s not true upon meeting Sandal who through pure knowledge of enchantment killed a bunch of blighted creatures and without enchantment able to freeze a blighted ogre… idk maybe I’m wrong

    • @flamesofchaos13

      The Cole we know ISN'T the Human Mage Cole...He died and is gone. The Spirit of Compassion simply mimicked his form and knows his thoughts but still knows it's a Spirit that also become like a Demon too. By Inquisition he's both and neither at the same time.

    Okay lemme add this, in relation to the Dread Wolf, remember all the stuff in DAO concerning the Brecilian Forest? So we've the ruins with the Eluvian, confirming with this and lore that the ruins dated back to a time before the Veil with clear relations between humans and elves due to the human architecture present within the ruins with statues of elven gods and idols. Even relations with dwarves were described, but then war was mentioned between the tevinters as they crippled the elven empire.
    Now we swing to Witherfang, a spirit who takes the form of a wolf due to being bound by Zarharian! Perhaps something similar was done to the wolves that were once the companions of the Emerald Knights!? We also know that werewolves are usually the result of demons (excluding the Danish incident, who i would say was a spirit as they didn't seem corrupted) who then infect others, with lore going all the way back to the black age at least, so there's a distinct correlation between the fade and animals in that concern.

The last 2 OGs are about night and mystery so I’m stuck between Dirth and Elgan. Elgan had to do with the sun so maybe night is his corrupted self. Since the Jaws of Hakon DLC, I too have felt the elven gods and the old gods are one and the same. Learning about Razikale and seeing the similarity to Dirthamen, then you can go through each one of the gods and see how they mirror.
    I also think that Solas is the "Maker" that the Chantry speaks of. So it CAN be true that the Maker created the veil. I also feel that Flemeth and Andraste might be originally the same person as well. Hmm, could the Chant of Light be a spell that could have helped slow red lyrium or the blight or something with the veil? 🤔
    The only problem I have with the theory about elves being spirits with bodies or sundered spirits, is that spirits supposedly only exhibit 2 aspects. Wisdom/Pride, Justice/Vengeance and the elves, Solas and Flemeth/Mythal exhibit other aspects apart from 2. For example, a romanced Solas exhibits desire, love, despair, regret. Maybe the accepted "truth" about spirits only exhibiting 2 aspects is incorrect or incomplete. Or as with everything DA related our "knowledge" is oversimplified. Regardless, your theories have merit, and as always keep tin-foiling. 👍

    • @flamesofchaos13
      @flamesofchaos13 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Solas and Mythal showcase the *True* aspect of Spirits...Not those of the New World divided into the Fade and Thedas (into Two Halves), Not those corrupted and changed by the dogma of the people. In other words they're not meant to just be 2 things Truer Spirits are capable of adapting to their circumstances and experiences. Like Cole did too...Seemingly Cole is the first Spirit/Demon since the Veil went up to break the curse of being just a spirit/demon becoming something more becoming both at the same time and neither too alongside becoming mortal/human if that option was chosen.
      Also Solas isn't the Maker. The Maker if anything in the Elvhen Myths is the Sun the Father of Elgar'nan the Spirit of Vengeance that turned against his son and his son turned against him while being a negative "virtue". You know like the Chantry says how the Maker literally cast aside his firstborn (Spirits) and the First Sin the Original Sin WASN'T the Magisters seeking power in the Golden City it was Mortals worshiping Spirits as Gods. What are the Evanuris in these theories? A: Spirits being worshipped as Gods. Also the Chantry's symbolism is literally a Sun...It's been right there in front of our eyes since Origins the codex about the origins of the Evanuris and the symbolism. Bioware even cements into our psyche with Ameridan in the Jaws of Hakkon dlc the idea that *BOTH* the Maker and Elvhen Gods are Real and they're not contradictory ideas.
      The Chantry has been proven misguided but it should be noted that doesn't mean they've been disproven as a source of info...In fact there's more evidence that the Chant of Light is telling us the truth rather than lies. In short they're wrong about some things yes but they're not completely wrong. It's not wise to negate it all as a lie or misinformation. It's wise to correlate it with other sources...Then we learn they've been wrong about the origins of the Blight/Taint and Veil, But they've been right about the issues between the Maker and Spirits and what has broken the universe. The worship of Spirits acting as False Deities and corrupting all of existence (Veil, Blights/Taint/Red Lyrium, Destruction/Sundering/Tranquilizing of the Titans those that keep the physical realm in existence etc).

    • @surrealcalysta
      @surrealcalysta 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@flamesofchaos13 When I say that I believe Solas is the Maker doesn't mean I believe there IS an actual Maker or that it's him, it means that the references in the chantry of the Maker seem to reference his actions as the Maker's actions. It sounds as though your theory is that humans were "created" by the Maker (a sentient being?/Sun) and not that the right environment was conducive to humans living where they couldn't before the veil's creation (ie migration). I suppose it's possible that your theories of the Maker/Chantry are accurate. If it's one thing you can count on in DA is "Nothing is True, Everything is Permitted" as far as I am concerned everything is on the table to challenge and question. That being said I still do believe Flemeth/Mythal is Andraste so the Chantry is still mostly incorrect. I agree that if there is a Maker much of your theory stands up and maybe that bit in the Chantry could be accurate.
      Now the part I find very interesting in what you said, it makes sense about the spirits being true vs sundered. Which takes me to a theory I've had swimming in the back of my mind, the origin of humans and qunari. With the veil's creation some spirits were stuck on the physical plane and maybe something similar to what Cole did, happened and all the life we have excepted as "real" is just "true" spirits in physical form. Which is what Solas believes everyone is, but we're wanting to disprove him and prove that we are "real" and maybe we aren't. However, THANK YOU for your input. LOVE DA debate/discussion!😃👍

    • @flamesofchaos13
      @flamesofchaos13 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@surrealcalysta Well actually no I don't believe the Maker even exists or at least not the Andrastians vision of Maker. I do think that Humans just came from well nature and yeah migrated. I was just saying if anything is a reference to the Maker in Elvhen Myth and Lore it's the Sun. If I'm wrong and he does exist than I think the Sun of the Elvhen Myth is another name for the Human's Maker.
      As for Solas actions inspiring the Chant of Light and idea of the Maker sure I can see that. They most certainly stole/converted Avvar faith ideas into their own the symbol of the Eye and Sword in Andrastianism is actually originally the Avvar Sky-Goddess symbol. So they're not above taking inspiration from other faiths and cultures.
      I also think there's a connection to Andraste and Mythal...Not Flemeth if anything Flemeth is an daughter in Andraste's line given she's just a mortal host...The Soul of Mythal is the "Goddess" part the part that resurrects and body hops.
      But what you're saying there if I understand you correctly is that Solas is more wrong not less. Because if Humans and Qunari are True Spirits made physical they're both Truer and Realer than the Elves and Demons we've seen that are pale or twisted imitations. Though I think the Elves are True Spirits given physical bodies that's what makes them Elves...So I think Humans and Kossith/Qunari/Tal-Vashoth/Vashoth aren't.
      I could see Humans being the Impure or Twisted Imitations instead but unlike Demons have a broader range of ideals and emotions than a single value...so Impure Demons/Misguided Spirits? For Qunari they have a natural aggression but created a system to keep themselves in check, They were also created by something else and they once worshiped Spirits before the founding of their Qun...If they're originally Spirits they sound like they're the Corrupted kind I.E. Demons that found a way to become Uncorrupted or where uncorrupted by something for an unknown reason. The single-minded mentality of aggression or maintaining order indicates they're the Black and White kind of Spirits akin to Wrath and Justice, In other words that they came into existence after the Veil/because of the Veil...That they were a "mistake".

      @@flamesofchaos13 Yeah I agree about the origin of the Maker just being the Sun from Elven Lore. I agree with you about the Andrastians reinterpreting other faiths and symbolism. Which I might add is a very realistic concept. As far as Flemeth, she's not the original Flemeth, hopping through daughters. Also, Andraste was Alamarri, Flemeth was mostly associated with the Alamarri, the story of being betrayed by her husband they share, the story of leading an uprising they share, the story of being killed they share. so the question for me is who came first Flemeth or Andraste because they sound like the same person or have eerily similar stories and came from the same place. LOL wouldn't put it past the writers. 😃 If not, like you said definitely related in a blood sense. Maybe Mythal was in Andraste then her host was destroyed and she hung out in the Alamarri jail where Flemeth was housed when she cried out for help? idk lol just too similar for me.
      That one theory (about mortals being spirits with bodies) is the thing I have in the back of my mind and not my primary theory. I also mostly think humans aren't spirits, but Solas seems to think so, I feel he is wrong but I know better than to count out Solas as not knowing what he's talking about. I believe the qunari race (not religion) their "bodies" are a mix between elves and dragons (perhaps like the forgotten ones), either intentionally or through experimentation and maybe we should look at bodies and spirits/souls as being separate entities.
      If you've noticed I have a million theories many of which can't coexist together. I'm not giving "the answer or my answer" I'm posing a question and things to consider. I'm not sitting in a place where I believe I'm right or ANYONE is right, cuz I don't think ANY of our opinions are 100% accurate. I think for me as a Solavellan who believes they only way to "defeat" Solas is to convince him his calculations are inaccurate and he chooses to not pursue his course of action, meaning prove we are "real" and not be destroyed or as an elf, have the veil torn down and hope for the best.
      I'll tell you what I'm for, a world where the elves are equal and have there own nation with respected borders like the humans have, I'm for a world where elves can coexist peacefully and be respected by other races. If that world can't exist then I say let it burn. 😈

    I can see from your theories, an analogy to Harry Potter's villain Voldemort, in that Mythal, being a spirit of protection and justice with some revenge, that she put parts of her spirit in several things including the amulet, Morrigan's son, her daughters and Solas, (Fen'harel) so that she can survive and continue her mission of protection, her idea of justice or revenge, or she's reached her limit and passed this on to Solas to continue this, during the next Dragon Age. I like the content. I'm only concerned if BioWare in its current state will be able to honor rich lore of it's years old universe in all it's details.
    I have my doubts.

    I just love how in the games some characters you thought were good ended up evil, some evil ended up good and some, exist between. Finally my personal favorite, and why I love Loghain's character, someone who believes they are good and in the end are left unsure yourself as to if the ends justified the means.

    Another point to #3 is that, when a Dalish Warden is asking Morrigan about shapeshifting, they can mention that some Dalish keepers have practiced similar magic. We don't hear anything about any humans besides Morrigan and Flemeth changing their shape, not even among the Avvar or Chasind who we might expect to. It's purely an elven thing, passed to Morrigan due to her mother being Mythal, and passed on down the generations of elven mages.

    • @SeventhheavenDK
      @SeventhheavenDK 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Vivianne mentions that the circle has documented information on Shapeshifting and that they even have developed techniques to prevent then from transforming or to revert back to normal. She never mentions something about being an elven exclusive magic.
      Also on Origins you fight Shapeshifter mages in for Drakkon. So it is not something lost or practiced by elves only.

    > Mythal was known to be able to shift into a dragon form
    > Flemeth carried within her "whatever was left of Mythal" and she could shift into a dragon too
    > In DA:I Solas "absorbed" Flemeth
    Could this mean we will get Solas as a dragon? And fight him or something.

    I love your videos and have followed you for years that being said I hope the developers and writers actually had a long term plan for the story line and are not making it up as they go along! I would love to see all of us be pleasantly surprised by what the truth is!! I hope none of us are right.

    I think Mythal possessed Solas at the end of DA:I because when mythal controlles whoever drank from well her eyes look a certain way so when she turned to stone solas eyes looked the same and before she turn to stone she said "im sorry too" which could mean she took his body.

    Great video as always! But with all the speculation about Solas being a spirit and what not....what did Lavellan ment to him? Cuz he calls her "my love" and all that. I've always wondered what he wanted to say before he kissed Lavellan a second time "It would be easier in the long run, but losing you would...." What?

    • @MartynkaB97

      I think it was to showcase just how strong his feelings for the Inquisitor were at that moment. They weren't in an official relationship yet, and he already knew how painful it would be to lose her love, despite it being easier in the long run. In fact, one of the writers says that the moment he breaks up with her is a moment where he almost told her the truth. He was already so in love with her at that moment that he almost gave up everything for her. He realised the power she had over him and decided to break it off before it got further. It was probably also why he vanished for so long after the end of the game and only showed up when he had to, or why he stays away from her in her dreams in Trespasser. He knows that she is the only person that could possibly change his mind and get him to stop, so he is doing everything he can to keep his distance, but at the same time he can't force himself to leave, hence why he still watches over her dreams. I hope that there is a happy resolution for them. It physically hurts to know that two people are so in love with each other and yet are unable to be together. I especially love his line in Trespasser where he says that he would cherish the chance to be wrong. He doesn't want to do this but he feels he has to. He would be happy if the Inquisitor found another way and he could save his people and be with her as well. I imagine that just as with Cole when you help him pick to become more human or not, Solas may have become more human as well over the course of the game. If you tell Cole to be a spirit, he still wants to help, but he is more of a third party, caring simply because that is who he is. If he becomes more human, he forms bonds and relationships. Perhaps that is foreshadowing for what will happen to Solas depending on your choices. He will become a spirit and cease caring, or become more human and give in to his emotions and bonds that he developed with other people especially the Inquisitor.

      @@MartynkaB97 Omg thank you! My thoughts were something like that and now you cleared the picture! The line were he says "I would never lay with you under false pretenses.." or something like that, got me confused. Was he referring to him not saying he was the dread wolf or ...?

    • @MartynkaB97
      @MartynkaB97 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ivirana0 To me it was more about not sleeping with her while she did not know who he really was. I hated that about Blackwall's romance. He lied about his identity, slept with the Inquisitor and then left. I don’t think I would have been able to forgive something like that. In my point of view that was something that Solas wanted to avoid. It's a wonderful example of how romance can exist without sex being at the forefront. It kind of balances with what you have if you romance Bull. Both are beautiful but for different reasons. Like I said before, Solas was already deeply in love with her at that point. He would not want to betray her further that he already was. He would be lying with her under false pretenses as Solas the apostate, a fabrication to attach himself to the Inquisition and not as who he really was. He didn’t want her to be with a lie and would not do so until she knew the truth.

    Also I have a thought. The elven Vallaslin were tattoos that marked elven servants to particular gods. The video mentions that The Evanuris used lyrium to 'create bodies'. Possibly the Evenuris use LYRIUM to tattoo thier own faces with a unique Vallaslin which gave them their magic (or enhanced their magic to god level). And how would Red Lyrium Vallaslin affect them if they tested it--it certainly could be the manner in which the Blight corrupted the Evanuris making the such a world ending threat that Fen-Harel had to sunder them by creating the veil.

    Maybe the evanuris using the calling to become tainted and, therefore, awakened, is for the purpose of getting themselves killed. Once Tainted, they would lose knowledge of this plan, but when concocting it knew that others would rise to defeat them, returning that aspect of their souls to the fade to reunite with the other part(s).

    It was fun to listen to these theories and they make a lot of sense! Thanks for compiling lots of information. I've never thought of Solas being a separate being from the Dread Wolf but I agree with your hypotheses now. So excited about the 4th game! 🍉 Btw, I've been always reading how people hated Solas after the trespasser but I always felt like he was just trying to save someone or some people and had to make important decisions. Now that he woke up to another dystopia, he saw that his effort was kind of meaningless, and it was time to restore what he sacrificed as much as he can (another important decision to make, maybe he's having a hero complex because he was the champion of a god?). Probably in DA:D, we'll make him believe this world also makes sense to most of people so that he gives up being an apocalyptic psycho 😆

    I don't think Solas was speaking literally when he said the Veil took "even themselves." The creation of the Veil destroyed everything the elves had. The only thing that's left of their glory is fragments of their language, fragments of history, a lot of which is unreliable legends, and ruins scattered across Thedas. The entire eleven culture became dust in the wind, left to accumulate as stories and legends. I think that's what he meant when he said the Veil took everything, even themselves. The Veil took their empire, their culture, their very identity. I could be wrong, but that's just how I see it.

    • @kallianpublico7517
      @kallianpublico7517 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think the creation of the Veil separated the Evanuris into two parts. One part living in the Fade and one part living in the real world. It also separated or sundered their magical technology. Without magic their creations no longer functioned as they wished and decayed with disuse. It's as if all of a sudden electricity didn't work. It wasn't destroyed, but the underlying pairing of opposites, out of which it was created, was suddenly unable to pair.
