  • -History
Heil dir im Siegerkranz, was the official anthem of the German empire from 1871 to 1918, replacing the Preußenlied, wich was the original anthem of Prussia. This record however, has combined both songs.
    Heil dir im Siegerkranz
As mentioned above, this song used to be the offical anthem of the German empire. The melody of the song is very well known across the world. Countries like Austria and Britain even made their own renditions of the song. Allthough this song was made for German unification, some of it's lyrics and the melody itself, date all the way back to the 1700s.
    Preußenlied
The Preußenlied was the former anthem of the kingdom of Prussia. After German unification in 1871, the Prussians tried to push for the Preußenlied becoming the offical anthem of the newly formed German empire. This ofcourse failed due to it's strong connection to the Kingdom of Prussia, and the opposition of Southern German kingdoms. This song replaced the song called Borussia as the national anthem of Prussia, and was succeeded by "Heil dir im Siegerkranz"

Hi there, unfortunately I made a little oopsie with this one. I had no idea there was a Germanised version of the Preußenlied, so I used the wrong lyrics as reference. I also did not know that the Heil dir im Siegerkranz version was already uploaded on the internet before I did. Regardless, the record itself is pretty rare.
My sincere apologies for the mistakes.

This has such an epic video cover. Bismarck on the right, the epic royal standard of Monarchist Germany on the left, the German Empire's flag fazed in the back, Prussian soldiers march in the back... It truly looks beautiful to a man of German descent who appreciates Monarchy.
As for the song, it is a relic from a more civilized age...

I'm glad you like it! I tried my best with the thumbnail because I want to move away from the basic "country map with a background" template I've been going for all the time. More thumbnails like this will come in the future 👌

Btw it’s “Ich bin ein Deutscher” not “Preuße” cuz it’s the German version not the Prussian version. For the colors of the flag the Prussian version is “weiß und schwarz” (white and black) but for the German version it’s supposed to be “schwarz-weiß-rot” (black-white-red)

I had no idea it had a "Germanised" version. It sounds so familiar to the original for non German speakers

I would love to but unfortunately I cannot. I tried a lot stuff in order to improve the quality, but the record itself is just so poor. Sadly they recorded it with a lot of echo back in the day. If I somehow figure out how to improve the quality of the audio I will definitely do!
