She's Butterfly. My eyes fill with tears, I've never heard anything so pure. Puccini would have been delighted.
I agree. The slow down of the vibrato is so dramatic... Astonishing.
I do wish she had skipped the top d flat, but sublime in every other way.
In other recordings it sounds somewhat screechy but here it has a lovely piercing yet rounded clear sound with a great echo ringing on after she stops. Couldn’t imagine it without that sustained top note.
It is Callas, you must have the d flat !
