We go fly fishing and have our first ever autumn overnight at my off grid cabin where we cook home made sourdough pizza. There are signs of fall all over the property as we continue to renovate the inside. On the first day of fall it rains and we head north to hunt for more colorful fall foliage.

These videos inspired me to make walking sticks to surprise hubs for our upcoming cabin & trail weekend getaways.
I picked a few very basic yt videos to get me started (nothing involving power tools) Just my $$tree specials: hacksaw, sandpaper, a tiny tin of polyurethane, paint brush, Paracord (pink for me/teal for hubs) & arrowheads & dreamcatcher from hobby lobby.
Cost more in labor & love than materials😂
Nothing compares to creating something w your own hands.

The drone footage amazes me because the forest appears untouched in your area - no clear cuts! Old growth forests, gotta love it.

I'm amazed by the work this guy puts into these videos. Note when nearing the cabin first you see the blue pickup driving down the dirt road, then a closeup of a morning glory flower, then a shot of the truck driving by the morning glory vine and the tree it is wrapped around, then a drone shot of the truck pulling in. That's four setups for a brief moment. It pays off by looking great, much better than say, a single dashcam shot.

A couple years ago we did a road trip from Boston to Quebec, driving up through Vermont, New Hampshire & Montreal...Absolutely Beautiful part of this Country I had never experienced. I was googling "practical tips for cabin getaway" & this has been so refreshing! It inspired me to make our own hiking sticks just to add ambiance to the practicality. I just put on the paracord handles last night. I'm surprising hubs the day before we leave next week☺️
I've had friends who've looked at me like I'm nuts because I plan on bringing my cast iron wok w gumbo to simmer while we trek to waterfalls. I'm also bringing other homemade goodies for our morning sunrises. We both have always said we don't want to buy what we can make at home & we cook quite a bit so almost nothing is a surprise to us.
I just love the idea of no one above or beneath us and the whole cabin to ourselves and we're just a short ride to check out the antiquey-type shops & local unique places.
Most other things I've seen basically have you feeling like if I don't have this/that exact whatchmadoodle, it's not worth doing.
I had a ball sanding, burning the design & sealing the walking sticks and taking tips from Ally about simple yet hearty breakfast ideas to keep us going. And Kyle's bagels will be a welcome variation to our midday snack😊
I went all the way back to the oldest vids to watch the progression and just so I could give each one a 👍.
Great content, positive REAL vibe, great ideas for things that can be used in multiple ways to reduce overpacking and waste.

Beautiful! One of my favorite parts is just hearing "Old Blue" purring on the backroad stretch looking for color in the rain.
We are at Massanutten Mountain and just took the ski lift to the top! Autumn leaves are Reds and Yellows with cool breezes today..our son came to spend the day with us. Next week our youngest Granddaughter will be married near here. Thanks for your Autumn inspirations!

Y'all are so blessed to live in such a beautiful land. The fall colors are beyond AMAZING. God is great. I was able to visit my home town this past weekend in Northern New Mexico and the aspen were in full fall color. I am so blessed as well. Miss seasons, North Texas just has two; mostly summer and cold ass winter.
