- My first trip to the ring. A bit of traffic and a few mistakes cost me some time.
Car spec:
1.8 VVT Stock 146HP
BC Coilovers 8/6kg
Rodders front pads, EBC yellow rear
195/50/15 AD08R
1050KG dry weight
Wow I’m impressed, knowing how “slow” the mx5 is and knowing it’s only a minute down on much faster cars is extremely impressive to me.
The miata is "slow". In america at least where turns basically don't exist. But on a track or a twisty road (touge) they are really fast and it's even more impressive when taking into considerstion that they have only 110-140 ish hp. (NA NB model)
"slow" is relative... im planning to buy one next year and i live in germany next to the "harz" (a highland area with the highest mountain being 1200m high) so that would basically be twisty road heaven and the perfect playground for the smol mx5
Its as fast as a Mercedes SL55 AMG from 2007

That was fun to watch! I just bought an NB Miata a couple of weeks ago and it's the best car I've ever driven. There's something to be said for cars that are purely about the joy of driving.
Wow! What an excellent drive! Thank you for taking us along with you! I’ll probably never get to experience my nb on Nurburgring but this is close enough. I LOVE the windscreen whistle above 200km/h, mine does the same!

Awesome driving.. I get all proud of my lap times around the small autocross track at lime rock and then I watch stuff like this and think "I am nothing"
That's a great time for a car with stock power. An old performance car magazine I had quoted 9 min dead in a mk1 Suzuki swift sport (slightly slower) driven by a pro driver who worked at the ring so you did good!!
Very fast, same car but only manage to do 9min BTG!

Nice driving mate you really got some out of it...Such capable cars right out of the box....The only thing i did to my 1.6 was a full service and cambelt and out in a 70mm duct inlet onto the stock airbox instead if that stupid wee snorkel...breathes much better
Fantastic display of momentum driving. Very quick lap despite low maximum speed. Makes me think my NC would be capable of this or a little faster if i had your skills.

Cameron that was a great lap and a really enjoyable watch, thank you for sharing. May I ask which model of NBFL yours is? I noticed somewhere between 1 min and 1 min 30 that the gear stick was moving around a bit under cornering and wondered if you have under chassis bracing installed like you get on the sport version?
Thank you Andy. Mine is the svt model so has all factory bracing. One of the rubber boots in my shifter had split prior to this lap so might have been due to that

Thanks mate, yh the typical 6 speed 2-3 shift. Although now I'm pretty certain my diff bushes are shot which could be why it was such an issue there
Shifted to 5 instead of 3. Noticed the low RPMs, shifted to 3rd proper

@@santalfredos17 I still need to make more edits to mine but got it fairly close using this lap. Tyres are soo tough, I've ended up using other mod tyres and changing a few bits

Thanks man, I honestly have no idea since it's been nearly 2 years and lots of trackdays + ~15k road miles since it was last done. I had it set to -2.5 front -2 rear with some toe out on the front and some toe in on the rear. Can't quote numbers on those unfortunately.

Awesome driving! Was this a tourist day? My nb has a very similar setup to yours, rodders pads, 8/6 bcs, seats roll bar etc. Currently only have ps3s though planning to upgrade to mrfs.

@@cameronjones4141 haha nice. Well you look dam quick even on the ado8s. Yeah I know how it goes. I got a few days in last year. Alternator tensionor fell off at blyton. lol. Then the nex time out there lost a ground. made my temp gauge go haywire, thought id blown the engine lol. Pretty much all this year mine has been in bits, doing a suspension refresh, polybushes, new wheel bearings ball joints etc. Cant wait to get it back together and on track again!

6 speed, 4.1 torsen. Maybe it only has 142hp, never had it tested
