The title doesn't lie. This is very bad quality. Though considering how dark this ride was and how cameras didn't have back lights at the time, it's excusable. But at least this video does show legitimate proof that the ride really did indeed exist! Thanks for the upload.
This is probably the only footage of the actual ride on TH-cam so quality doesn't not matter in this case... After all this ride was from the freaking 60's, and camera film was very good back then but bad now due to being worn down... I find this a historical treat from the first Disneyland and the "new" Tomorrowland!!!!!!
This comes from the Extinct Attractions Club DVD release on this ride. The real problem with it is that it doesn't let us hear the natural audio of the recording, which I would much rather here than to dub in the archival audio.
There's 2 Live Audio Recordings one from RedzRobinz: th-cam.com/video/pDpiYASWLNo/w-d-xo.html and one from magic joe: th-cam.com/video/-ArpLUJbhbY/w-d-xo.html
@@thedizzer3831 I have actually synched that live audio to this video but I've been a bit hesitant to upload it. It required cutting out chunks of this video to get it to match but at least it gave a little bit of a rough idea for me of what the ride was like live. I can see why people didn't even try to do camcorder recordings of this when in theory it was possible to do it as early as the 80s because it was just too dark inside (this is also why no early camcorders tried to do the old Fantasyland dark rides before they were shut down).
This and the PeopleMover were two of my favorite rides in my early teens growing up in CA. Nice and long, comfortably dark, relaxing... this was Disneyland in its truly golden, halcyon era. Thank you SO much for posting complete footage of this wonderful ride!
YEAH!!!!! Back in the day right here!! I remember riding this when I was about 7 or 8 years old. That guys voice always creeped me out. This is classic old school sh... right here. Glad there is footage to watch considering the ride is long gone now. Still got it in memory though. Great times for sure. Peace.
What do you mean bad quality? The fact that there’s an actual home video w in tact audio of this ride and the entrance to tomorrowland is amazing, even if it’s not High definition by modern standards
Thank you for your contribution of this upload. I was way to young to experience this ride. Plus I still am searching to try and experience this ride thru youtube or another way. I pardon the bad quality but most of all, thank you.
Poor quality is fine, it's better to see the actual ride instead of the other stupid VR uploads. I want the real thing, so thank you for giving me this piece of my childhood.
Adventure Thru Inner Space opened in 1967 - and lasted until 1985. Up until 1982, most every attraction at Disneyland (and eventually Disney World) required a ticket. "A" tickets were the cheapest, "E" tickets the most expensive. "Adventure Thru Inner Space" (as well as "Great Moments with Mr Lincoln") were FREE attractions - they didn't require a ticket. Which made it very popular, at least for the first decade or so. That, and the fact that there was rarely if ever a line! Those ride vehicles, also used on the Haunted Mansion, were great.
ha! thanks :) I remembered this ride the most from my 1st visit in 1984 as a 4 year old. The scariest part of the ride was waiting to get on and there were monitors showing shrunken riders! I remember feeling like i was getting smaller in my seat, as I went through the ride.
As a kid in the early70's me and my friend were lucky enough to both get the latest Portable Cassette Player Recorders with wired "Microphones" in faux leatherette over the shoulder carrying cases because his dad worked for a electronics company and a goal we were determined to carry out in our little young minds at that time was to "Sneak" in our recorders and record the audio from The Haunted Mansion firstly and then if successful without our recorders being confiscated, The Pirates of The Caribbean. We we're successful in both those "Mission's" but unfortunately we had to get serious with our ride riding and put the recorders away in those lockers they use to have until we we're nearly ready to leave the park and for many years in spite of "Soundtrack Album's" for many years we enjoyed the hell of our recorded visit to Disneyland. And that's the way I want to remember Disneyland forever. 😐
Thank you for posting this. The videographer may not have overdubbed the audio. These atommobile's (as well as other ride cars) were very close together. I recall hearing audio clearly from adjacent cars. His microphone may have picked that up. Fun anecdote: There was a gallery above Pirates of the Caribbean in the late 80's where Disney sold off their remaining original attraction posters for $300 each (the real ones). There were two ATIS posters left - I got one of them! That was 1988.
Look at the attraction posters on the wall at 8:55 to 9:12. I'm pretty sure that the third poster from the left is that super rare TRON PeopleMover attraction poster. If this was 1985, it would be about the right time. So cool. It's tough to get a good look at it, the quality isn't great. I wish the person filming had scanned the artwork on the walls a little longer...
Alex Burk Is this haunted room actually stretching, or is it your imagination, hmm? This Chamber has no windows and no doors **evil chuckle** which offers you this chilling challenge to find a way out! **evil laugh** Of course, there's always my way. **lightning and thunder** Sorry had to finish it lol
Yes, I must admit that as a kid, me and my friends would always pound on the snowflakes as we went by! Thanks for posting -- even though the middle is difficult to see, the beginning and end are good! Really takes me back...
It actually was done by an imagineer, his name is Greg, and since it was shot in 1985, you have to understand that the video camera's back then were not that great, and I was very happy to have included anything in our video, and remember its not just the ride through, its the interviews I did with Bob Gurr, etc... that really are the video.
If the camera was able to use the available light, I'm sure it would be much more watchable. I remember going on this ride when I was a kid, and later when my friends and I "smoked out" on it, haha. This was possible because it was a "dark ride" before all the video devises were installed. This also made it possible for other questionable activities that led castmembers to nickname it "Adventure Through Intercourse".
bummer! I was waiting for the part where the guy stares at you through a microscope and all you see is a huge eye ! I remember that part from when I was a kid , but with all due respect there was nothing just the start and the end , thanks though
Bad quality or not, I'm glad this is here. A piece of history.
Yes!! This is incredible!
You’re right. Somewhat bad quality is better than no quality.
I don't care how bad the video is I'm so glad that you were able to capture that for the rest of us to hear it I love the audio

"Adventure Thru Inner Space ride thru (Very Bad Quality)" The most honest person on youtube. Thank you
they need to remake this who's with me?
The best ride Disneyland ever had. Thank you for posting.

Would you believe me to say that it’s voiced by the same guy who did the ghost host in the haunted mansion
At Disneyland in Anaheim, CA, Adventure Thru Inner Space was from Saturday, August 5, 1967 and lasted through Monday, September 2, 1985.
Holly cr@p: no giant strollers, no backpacks, no massive moving clusters of people taking up the entire walkway. It truly was a Fantasyland.
Is that a Star Wars poster near the exit? A sign of things to come.

Thanks for putting this up. The audio is wonderful, and the queue - not to mention the blinking nucleus - come out great!
Poor quality is fine, it's better to see the actual ride instead of the other stupid VR uploads. I want the real thing, so thank you for giving me this piece of my childhood.

One of my favorites as a kid of 11 years old. Loved it! I didn't know what Monsanto was and didn't care. All I knew was that it was an awesome ride.
ha! thanks :) I remembered this ride the most from my 1st visit in 1984 as a 4 year old. The scariest part of the ride was waiting to get on and there were monitors showing shrunken riders! I remember feeling like i was getting smaller in my seat, as I went through the ride.
SweetPea ThePod I remember the shrunken riders too. Very cool. I dont recall it that much but it was great!
Now that you mention it, I do recall the giant eyeball. It was as if an eye was looking at us in a microscope as I recall.
LUCKY! 😊
Awesome! thanks for the upload! memories will be forever~~
The ride that started the Disney tradition of tearing out unique and creative attractions in favor of ip based ones.
#notmydisney
I really don't care how bad the quality is. This is still a very cool ride. Apparently I was not alive when this ride was here :c
Hosted by the Ghost Host, Paul Frees. That feels weird for some reason.
He also narrates Great moments with Mr Lincoln
Thank you. I was curious what his name was.
WOW, This is GREAT, Please, absolutely no apologies needed. Thank you for the video.

Back when Disneyland actually was great.
Press F to pay respect
TL in it's prime, thank you for uploading this.
at least this is one of the only videos that show the ride of the real adventures through inner space
Man I loved that ride.
I wish this ride was still around after I was born but it would've been pretty outdated in the late 90s
Your cadaverous pallor portrays an aura of foreboding. Almost as though you sense a disquieting metamorphosis..
Wait wrong ride. Thurl for the win!
Alex Burk Is this haunted room actually stretching, or is it your imagination, hmm? This Chamber has no windows and no doors **evil chuckle** which offers you this chilling challenge to find a way out! **evil laugh** Of course, there's always my way. **lightning and thunder**
Sorry had to finish it lol
“The front panel will close automatically please remain seated at all times”
“MAG-NI-FI-C-AT-ION”
“THIS is Monsanto”
Paul Frees for the win.
OMG! I was able to get in to the ride when I was very small! 😱😭

Makes sense, I searched around and turns out after they left (1977-1985) the space for the post show become a shop.
Can appreciate this video in fact this camera was from 1980s.
I think this video quality is pretty good. At least it's better than a picture of the ride.
A working people mover as well!
MAGNIFICATION!!
2:31 hello peoplemover
oh this ride looks fun but i guess i have to stick sitting in the dark with this in the background
This was after Monsanto ended it's sponsorship. The display area is full of attraction posters.
Awesome job.
If the camera was able to use the available light, I'm sure it would be much more watchable.

these are the days when A.T.I.S was In neglect
ATIS 2.0, Im up for that.
how come its not like that with other rides today?
Is it me? Or was that 1st voice the same guy from that TWILIGHT ZONE episode, "THE MAN IN THE BOTTLE"?!? (The Genie)
What did the announcement say when the ride stoped
bummer! I was waiting for the part where the guy stares at you through a microscope and all you see is a huge eye ! I remember that part from when I was a kid , but with all due respect there was nothing just the start and the end , thanks though
I saw the eye at 7:37! That was always my favorite part of the ride. :)
Same here. That part has stuck with me ever since. This just took me back. Also, I too saw the eye here in this video towards the end.
What are you talking about? It's there. I saw it. At the end.
The first two posters are definitely space mountain and tron
What happen to the references about Monsanto ?
@jombi77 The strange part is that the ending line was keep This is Monsanto
Arent there tributes in Star Tours ?
What was put in place of "This is Monsanto" when Monsanto left?
Kane
Nothing. It was taken off.
I miss this attraction! I miss its unique scent. I miss the pulsating nucleus. I miss the giant eyeball. I miss the oil lamp. :::sigh:::
I think the gift shop at the end of star tours is the same
@jombi77 Acutally if you get Genosis as the ending the Mighty Microscope appears inside the under construction Death Star
Like before the black cauldron.
What year was this filmed?
well, the parts before the ride anyways.
it is Bad Quality but i like the vid though :)
1:10 to 1:39 Ghost host
reminds me of Horizon and spaceship earth..
was walt alive at this time? :o BECAUSE IF HE WAS....AWSOME ! :DDDD
Sadly, Walt paased away before this attraction opened. But he was involved with its development.
I've seen worse quality
With image quality that horrible it's not worth posting.
How rude! I'm loving it. So are many others
