    Next time you change those brakes and rotors make sure to loosen the hard brake line from the spindle. Your bending a solid brake like that isn't meant to flex. Its either an 8 or 10 mm bolt. Its also a good idea to take off the master cylinder reservoir cap to relieve the pressure. Then use the old pads attached to the C-clamp or caliper spreading tool to open up the calipers before putting on the new rotor, not to damage the rotor. Its also a good idea to use a small amount of anti-seize on the inside of the new rotor near around the bolts, so it doesn't rust-weld to the hub. After both sides are done, slowly pump the brakes about 8-12 times with the cap off to bring the pads closest to the rotor surface. Reinstall the master cylinder reservoir cap, start the GX470 and the system will built pressure and firm up the brake pedal in a couple minutes. I've had mine for about 200k miles and done a few brake/ brake and rotor replacements. Always the same way and done in under an hour.

      Do you use copper anti-sieze, anything else we need to grease or lube?

    • @GXBOB
      @GXBOB  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@csgofordummies1239 This video was done ages ago when i still had my GX470. I only used brake squeal for the pads on this one. I have since used moly lube for the brake pins as seen on a couple of my videos on the GX460. Without lubing the brake pins, it'll eventually get rusted and stuck causing steering wheel vibrations.

      @@csgofordummies1239 you can also use slyglide for the bolts inside the boots where they bolt into the caliper. That stuff is silica based and a little better. I found that stuff at Autozone. You can also use the brake grease if its included with your new brake pads.

      YOu should watch the 2014-2019 brake change instead. It has a much more improved camera angle.

    Remove the brake reservoir cap before pushing the pistons. Bleed tge brakes with new pads installed. Losen the bleeder valve and let gravity work for you.

      Look at my other video on 2014-2019 Lexus GX460 brakes remove and replace. I have the rear brakes done in that video which is practically the same as the 2007.

    BTW, do you do oil change on these on your own? I have 2016

    • @GXBOB
      @GXBOB  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      I am completely embarrassed. One of the main oil changes done on a regular interval and I didn't think about making a video on it.

    One more question - Did you have to use Thread-locking Compound such as Loctite on caliper guide pin bolts and caliper bracket bolts?

    • @GXBOB
      @GXBOB  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, i used silicone based grease aka brake grease. I have a newer video for the 2014 and up brake job also.

    Mr. GX, where can I find one of those C Clamps, I'm having a hard time locating one like that?

    • @GXBOB
      @GXBOB  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You might want to try tools such as these are that made specifically to spread caliper pistons. What i used was C clamps laying around my garage. Here is a link:

    Did you have a mushy pedal?
    Soft at times and sometimes normal? Thanks for the video

    • @GXBOB
      @GXBOB  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was mushy at first for a few pumps then it became normal . I had to use a turkey baster to remove the overflow of brake fluid after i pushed my calipers back in to make room for the new brakes.
