Adjusting the Suzuki TL1000s Clutch to stop it dragging

  • My TL has been bit of a pain recently. I've been unable to select neutral when at a standstill once hot plus when I have the clutch pulled in it is dragging. So today I adjusted the push rod mechanism to see if that solved the problem.
I also used my favorite lubricant and adjust the ropy chain!!

We have the same taste in bikes. I searched for years for my dream bike. A red 2000 TLs was the ticket for me. Reminds me I should lube that chain.

The chain adjustment is always a pain, when tighten up the 36mm main nut the chain goes tight!

Agreed, my chain is U/S now, will replace this year. I'll probably take it off the road for a while and tidy it back up. Thanks for watching

@@waffey2008 I flipped the axel around so that the main bolt is on the right had side, means you can tighten it up without the chain tightening up. works a treat. I went for welding the slipper clutch too. as soon as you get wear its US.

Great video and narration, shame it didn't sort it first time 🥺 but got netter when you rode it a bit more 🤣
I expect a good oil change will make all the difference too 👍

Thanks for the video dude. I'm doing a cable conversion on my TL1000R and had no idea how the setup from the TLS was. Lifesaver!

Great vid👍 Hopefully cured the clutch. My MT is more difficult to find neutral when really hot. I would definitely have the bike name in the video title.

Oil change next should help apparently but seems to be ok now. Noted with the title...doh!

Where did you find the manual? I only have my owners manual, and I'm looking for a more comprehensive one.

I've got exactly the same problem, bought new clutch cable and wormdrive assembly, fresh motul oil and still same problem! Been told my my experienced mechanic it's the clutch plates sticking so take cover off and soak them in oil over night and make sure there's no metal burrs in clutch basket or warped plates and it's all put in correctly as per manual, is yours OK now since this video??

Hi, yes it works. It does have heavier clutch springs from the previous owner hence why the clutch is so heavy.
