Thank you very much! And thats awesome! A lot of combos in these videos require 2 or more people for concentration so being able to pull one off is impressive in itself hahah
it has to be scorching ray (best option if upcasted to 4th+ level) or eldritch blast. magic missile doesn't work because MM isn't an attack. spirit shroud only works on attacks. magic missile works with hexblade's curse and empowered evocation.
@@agusnoceda6772 Rob already answered but yea! Anything that you make an attack roll with will work! So Scorching ray is all I mentioned here but it works well with other multistrike abilities as well!
Nice. Spell combos again! Good name "timeout." I'll use that to name from now on when i use that combo. Did you get that spell combo from me? haha. my own version of ensnaring spectres that can be done solo is: bonus action: tentacle of the deep action: spirit guardians action surge: lance of lethargy with a movement speed of 40, spirit guardians halves it to 20. tentacle of the deep + lance of lethargy reduces that to 0. so you can essentially keep that enemy in place on the outer rim of spirit guardians (hence they can't reach and attack you either) as long as you keep hitting with tentacle of the deep and lance of lethargy. the above was actually the main tactic of one of my optimized builds which was a fighter 2, divine sorc 5, fathomlock 3. I had a familiar granting help, favored of the gods and had the seeking spell metamagic to ensure i was hitting tentacle of the deep + lance of lethargy.
Yea! you always give me so many things to think about hahah. And thats actually nuts. Anything that just flat out reduces movement speed total rather than using a percentage is incredibly cheesable! And the fact you threw on the familiar just for good measure is hysterical.
@@ThisCrits thanks. glad you used it! and as you know even when i make optimized stuff, i like injecting flavor in it. the theme of the character was an answer to this question: What is Ursula (from the little mermaid) could be redeemed? so the spirit guardians was flavored as spiritual tentacles from ursula's ancestors who are trying to get her back on the right path. as we know ursula is a witch but i wanted spirit guardians so it was either divine sorc or cleric so sorcerer felt the more in-theme route. lastly, the chainlock familiar was a quasit who i named "flotsam" to basically replicate ursula's eel familiar (asked the dm to allow me to change one of the shapechange options of the quasit to an eel). the character starts out as evil on a quest for vengeance against "Ariel" but eventually becomes "less evil" through her adventures with the party.
@@TheRobversion1 I gotta say, I am thoroughly impressed with how much thought you put into every single combo, spell choice, character information, etc and I cant say how much I appreciate you sharing it with all of us! It honestly something I look forward to seeing everytime I open up TH-cam! Well done!
@@ThisCrits aww. thanks man! i appreciate the compliment. maybe one day you can showcase one of my builds on your channel if you ever decide to do build vids.
outside of wish, you'll need another caster do it as the spells i think are needed are both concentration. if you are open to illusions for 1 component, then it's doable by level 11 bards: magical secrets: summon beast (beast of the water=shark) programmed illusion (set up the trigger that the illusion of a tornado comes out once your summon beast gets to melee range) from the bard spell list with programmed illusion, you can set the script as to how it looks like for 5 minutes, no concentraton and you can cast it at the start of your adventuring day so it doesn't cost your action economy. the illusion of course is treated as real by your enemies and your summon beast (it's a tornado with small debris flying all around which would mean obscurement for everyone inside and against people targeting them from the outside except you) until they have reason to investigate your illusion and succeeds on an investigation check vs. your spell save dc.
The only way I can I can find that would allow this to work RAW would require 2 casters for concentration. One to cast Whirlwind, and one to cast Conjure Animals to summon 4 Reef sharks. But they would technically need to make saves and it would be really clunky to pull off. Honestly, You may want to talk to your DM about making a custom homebrew spell for something like that if they are open to it hahah
Good combos and good video. I use the last one with a friend one time and it worked perfectly.

I really like these ideas. Also, good names for them.:)
Thanks a bunch! I'm glad you liked the names I am really not the creative hahaha
5:39 i like that combo but wouldn’t be more efective with magic missile? (Since it can’t be dodge)
