It looks really cute, I love the river and landscape so far! Thank you for being so honest, everyone struggles with similar feelings from time to time. Don't forget to have fun with the building! That's the most important part, much more important than the output or progress. :)
I loved this video. 👍 There will certainly be those times when you feel stuck with a MOC. It's a good idea then to take a break, do something else and continue when you feel motivated again. I certainly had lot of those times when I built my first town. Now, four years later, when I'm building the third version of my medieval town, the work is faster and more enjoyable than it has ever been. Meanwhile my skills have improved and my parts collection has (at least) tripled. The key thing is to have fun. If you're not having fun then there's really no point to it.
Yay! I'm so glad you posted about your self doubt and struggles. It inspires me to try Mocs for the first time and also resonates with life in general. Also love the lego bracelets!
Thank you for sharing your struggles. Yes we see all these amazing MOCs on TH-cam and instagram but what we don’t see what the process is. I’m learning so much just from you narrating your vision. Again, Thank you!
I so appreciated this!!! I've had these same thoughts and struggles with MOCing and other creative activities, and it's so nice to be reminded that I'm not alone. And it really is looking good!
You got so much done in one wknd. And it looks incredible! You’ve given me some great ideas for my medieval village. The challenges are definitely relatable. I appreciate you sharing your process.
Hiya. I know how you feel. I never think my MOC's are any good. But when I take them to a show and loads of people want to know how to build something like that or how good it is, I feel much better in my ability. I've taken months to finish off a build that should of only taken a few weeks. Also lost interest in a build and left it half finished, I'll get back to it some day. Keep up the good work.
First of all, let me just say wow ... a your Medieval Corner is looking to be a fantastic creation. As for the aggravation and frustration, roadblocks happen to everyone. Best advice that I can give is to stop what you’re doing and do something else. Inspiration will come when it does, probably when you least expect it. There’s no deadline to meet, no grade to pass. Give yourself time to figure it out. But, if you ever find yourself questioning your abilities, just go rewatch some of your early city videos and see what you’ve created. You’ll get there - we’ll be here.
I really love how your medieval moc is going! As an artist/illustrator for the past twenty or so years, I am all too familiar how self criticism and comparison with other more experienced creatives can be such a hurdle to over come. It sounds like you got some great advice from the members and are overcoming the doubt continuing. My mentor in drawing told me a long time ago, you get good at art (or any creative skill) with 90% sweat n' tears and the remaining talent (which is personal taste and interest imo). Look forward to see more progress:)
This was such a great video! I look at all the MOCs in your city and am so impressed. Now seeing your terrain building and mountain building skills develop truly shows your mastery of lego. Don’t doubt yourself! I’m blown away by your talent.
Really appreciate the honesty w/ MOCing and trying something new. Glad you weren't too discouraged to keep trying after a little break. Good luck w/ the rest of the build as it's coming along nicely!! As you say, it's all LEGO, so you can change it to however you feel if you don't like it. :) Sure hope this video encourages others to keep trying! I won't try, but hopefully for others. 😁
It's coming out very nice! Move at your own pace, the most important thing is enjoying yourself. Even putting a project away without a return date is better than doing something that you are not enjoying. I have struggled with that several times in my life, I have gotten very addicted to projects in the past (non LEGO related), and when I finally decide to drop them, I realize that I wasn't having fun for months but I kept going just "to not give up". And that's a stupid thing to do for things where you are investing your free time.
You can be so so proud of your medieval moc!! As you say it’s hard when expectations are high because we see all these amazing mocs by talented people. But doing it yourself is the way. I hope to be able to do it sometime as well, currently just pulling sets together which I love to do. Keep up your great work and the way finish your videos 😂. So glad I became a member of your channel !
I really appreciate this video something similar happened to me this week I always have high standards in my head and then I'm never happy with anything I build-thank you for talking about this Johanna, this video really means a lot and I'm sure will help me and many other builders! 💗 When it happens to me I usually just give up on the project and take a break from mocing but now you've convinced me to not give up and to remember not to doubt my ideas 🥰
When I hit that wall I ended up not working on it for ages, but I found when I just continued doing some little stuff it really helped. There are so many amazingly talented people out there that it’s easy to doubt your own stuff. But your creations are just as valid.
Really really fantastic video! I love how the MOC is turning out! Super fantastic! Also, thanks for talking about MOC blockage, it is for sure a thing we all go through and don’t talk about often!
Its already marvellous, exited to see more progress in the future! Don’t rush it and don’t stress out about not getting any progress we‘ve all been there.
you have made amazing progress new skills always take a good little while to get things going. long as your enjoying the journey that's all that matters
Omg!!!! First off, you are incredibly talented- like, ridiculously so. Secondly, THANK YOU for giving me the push I really needed- when you were talking about having a block as far as building or drawing or writing I nearly started to cry bc I have always journaled & written songs & poems & stories my entire life & somewhere throughout this crazy Covid chaos (alliteration! Lol) I stopped entirely- and it has really actually been a serious issue bc I have realized that was a major way of relieving stress etc, so it’s all just built up this whole time- I’m pretty sure (although I’ve had plenty of people including drs and family members telling me to just start regardless lol) you just got me to finally break down & start writing again. Clearly since I’ve now posted it on the internet, I’ve got to keep my word 🤣 lol but seriously- I really think you got thru to my head to finally just stop overthinking and just do it. Thanks! I’m sure everyone will be like “so we’ve been telling you for a year this is what you needed to do, but you’re giving credit to someone on TH-cam that you don’t know? Excellent!” Lol but regardless- I’ve been there before, I’m there now- I get it, the struggle is literally really real. I think your medieval moc is turning out AMAZINGLY WELL, I would honestly never even know how to start that.. so, keep up the incredible work, if you find yourself doubting yourself at all- just tell that little voice to shut up- you are far more capable than a zillion people, and you are only limited to what you limit yourself to- so, truthfully, the possibilities are endless- and this is something that is supposed to be FUN, so if you aren’t having fun doing it, take a break- come back to it later. You’re doing amazing! Thank you again, honestly- something really connected when I was watching this & I was like “why am I feeling emotions? This is what I do to NOT feel emotions lol”.. well, I guess I’ve got some writing to do! 🙃
Could you add perspective/ depth of field to resolve the building size difference? Ie. Buildings get smaller in the distance, larger in the foreground? It might even just give a surreal feel which might be nice with the fantasy element ;) xo - Michelle
Oh that interesting actually. I was going the opposite with having the blacksmith at the back. I’m not sure what I’ll will do yet. But that is certainly with bearing in mind.
I haven't brought the medieval black smith yet but will do.( lego is really expensive to get here in nz :/ ) In deciding to, I came across allot of rebrickable options for it. You could build a whole town with multiple of the sets. Windmill, stables, church and bakery I think I came across... the rebuilds looked a bit smaller in scale in some of them
So nice to see the struggle is real. Glad you shared that but of mocing. I did see post somewhere where someone made 3 buildings from the blacksmith shop via splitting the floors. I'll see if I can find it
Hi Johanna, trust you are enjoying your Spanish jaunt! I've just discovered a new Lego TH-cam channel, MOC IT UP, and thought you might be interested in some of the sets shown, such as "Medieval Tavern MOC-72838 Review: The perfect companion for LEGO Ideas Medieval Blacksmith 21325" and "Lowenstein Castle? MOC-?????". I thought the tavern was absolutely exquisite, although it wasn't "real" Lego (and my brother still preferred Lego's Medieval Blacksmith). Wishing you all the best.
I keep finding myself in the same boat with the blacksmith shop as space is a big issue for me I started it like 3-4 times over the last year and then I just start other builds Great video and it will all come together eventually 😁👍🏻
I’ve been looking at it a bit more since filming this and I am convinced that either I moc the shop smaller so I can create a little village with the limited space OR I leave it as it is and there wont be any more buildings. It’s one of my favourite sets ever, but it’s also very large and that’s kinda making this hard.
That would be amazing. Though I don’t think I have room. Though maybe I can have some knights attacking the castle. I’ll have to think on that. Great idea though!
It looks really cute, I love the river and landscape so far!

Also love the dragon I wish I knew where mine flew off to as I had a few of the way back
The medieval area is coming along nicely and will look awesome I’m sure once finished.

The medieval moc looks fantastic! 🥰👑
Really enjoyed your chat about comparing ourselves to other talents. Even if it's Lego or anything else in life, we all gotta start somewhere!

Hello) great medieval corner)
I love this moc so much! It’s got so much potential and it looks amazing so far! You have done really well 😊
you have made amazing progress new skills always take a good little while to get things going. long as your enjoying the journey that's all that matters
I’m a secondary school art teacher, I have spent my entire adult life pushing kids through this exact thing.
Yes ! Part II

Travesty! I definitely don't accidentally say that very frequently.
