We need a monthly 4xFred and dirthead shed collaboration when you guys go wheeling or work on something!!! Even bimonthly would work.

I’m sure there’s a legal side but let’s hope they get together from time to time. Both guys have so much knowledge and skill. It’s fun to watch them on their own but I miss dirt every day already

A clear 9 oz solo cup drilled through the bottom and put over your drill bit catches all the hot cuttings and keeps it off your arms and your shirt. Really useful when you're drilling out those broken off Jeep body mount bolts...Keep cranking out the content!

Now that looks good 👍. Alot going on there, Brother working on these rides without help does not look fun. But you are doing a great job man well done keep the videos coming 👍.

The one thing I do not understand about these after market products is why they are supplied with SAE bolts. Every bolt on my Jeep is metric and when I did my skid plates and rockers I put the supplied bolts in my bolts bin and went to the hardware store and bought metric so all the hardware is the same. A product can be made in the United States and have metric threads, the rest of the Jeep is.

@@bajamedic I agree I do have a full set of tools in my rig I even have a fuller set of tools in my shop but that's not the point I was trying to make. Is somebody brings me a gizmo made 100% out of aluminum and wants a bracket made for it he isn't going to want it back made out of steel.

Simple your skid plate is made in USA, and due to NAFTA and other dumass democrat policies for the automotive industry your jeep is only assembled in USA

I just put the MetalCloak skidplate system under my diesel Gladiator because their skidplating did such a great job protecting everything for years underneath my JKUR. Steel skidplates are the only way to go; sure, aluminum saves weight but rocks chew it up much worse than with steel, and it bends a lot more easily.

  • @Babarudra

I"m glad it wound up going together right. At that one point where it seemed like you'd installed stuff out of order, I was waiting for tools to start flyin! lol

Rivnut do not hold up. Best way to mount skid plates is take a bolt ,weld a lenth of 1/4” round to it and bend itto allowyou to snake into the frame above the hole you drilled. Rivnuts will eventually spin and get damage if a rock strike the bolt head. Some people put gorilla glue on them before crushing inserting them.

Metalcloak products are absolutely one of the best! The R&D team and engineering team must be some of the best also. I have their aluminum control arms on my XJ. Total BEEF!! And as always, awesome vids Fred! Safe wheelin’!

Its idiotic that they ship the kit with a non metric bolt when literally everything else on the car is.

you might want to check for clearance between the rear end yoke and fuel tank skid on passenger side with the rear flexed out, many have had to trim the skid to clear.

I have a CJ2A and the bolts for the bumper on the driver side are APITA to get too behind the steering box. Would it be wise to use a rivenut on that side for the bolts ? Or would they just not hold up ?
