DIY Industrial Pipe Desk

Although a little late to the party on this trend, here is my take on an industrial pipe desk design. I went for a more classy look as opposed to the normal rustic style associated with this type of furniture.
This desk is very simple and encourages a minimalist work surface, which I prefer.
The top is made out of Ambrosia Maple and the legs are made out of Schedule 40 Pipe.
From afar, this piece does not scream industrial pipe furniture due to the attention to the finishes, but up close it maintains a softer industrial feel.

i am a wood worker also ...so i am not that crazy about pipe legs of any kind ...but i got already two requests to build a desk for my son and floating shelves for my wife..my approach to it will be buying the pipes from home depot and having them re-thread the pipes according to the size needed....i know they have some of the fittings ...i use to buy black pipes for my clamps and occasionally to do gas work...i like you desk so it is time to subscribe...

That is exactly what I did. Most lengths used were just standard off the shelf, but they did have to rethread some. I would suggest checking out www.supplyhouse.com for your pipe. They are about half the price of Home Depot if I recall correctly.

Thank you! I was born in 1950. When I entered US High School I signed up for shop. I was told: Nope, you're a girl and shop is for boys. But the fact is I am a 'girl' and even at my age (72) want to make beautiful handmade furnishings. Well, I'm resigned into miniatures. I've got big tools but afraid to use them.
