I grew up listening to Stogie T.This guy's delivery and immense knowledge on historical facts makes his lyricism catalogue superb. He deserves his flowers
"we got Ghettos too n they Orange Juice, Concentrated" Dope shih... we have a place in Johannesburg called Orange Farm.. a Township with a Lot of Poor people living there... its well written
He (Stogie T = Tumi Molekane) was the main vocalist for Tumi & The Volume (they were kinda the South African The Roots, their album Pick A Dream is really good)
Look into their eyes they’re shocked asf 😂 AFRICA got it too we ain’t playing . Y’all still got a lot of work to do into discovering our amazing MC ✌🏽🔥🔥🔥😌
Here's a hidden gem: Like when Tony got the flooded Rolie and we called it Hope. Yes, there's reference to the Soapie The Bold and The Beautiful, but also there's reference to Tony Yengeni, a struggle stalward who worked alongside Stogie's mother in the anti-apartheid movement, Mkhonto Wesize. Dude got charged for curruption as soon as black man stepped into office. Also Marie Stopes, the infamous clinic. He's portraying the contrast you get in a place that is supposed to give health, but it really got famous for abortions. He's basically highlighting the injustices and whole oxymoron that is South Africa.
The Trevor Noah bar was epic, "It's half apparent you getting mixed messages." Trevor Noah, is mixed. Black mom, Swiss (white) dad. Half a-parent. Whattttt ?
That 'Audubon assassin' line though.....Malcolm X was assassinated at the Audubon Ballroom in Harlem. "In the pocket" I think in that day was slang for someone having pristine aim when shooting to kill. In a packed ballroom that assassin had to have really good aim....bruh..
I came for the Nasty C reaction and stayed for the Stogie T one! New Sub May we suggest a 3rd track? Dj Switch feat Stogie T, Nasty C, Youngsta CPT and several others - You can choose between Way it go or Now or Never (Remix) 🔥 You'll get a taste of Nasty C when he was still on the come up and you'll get a flavor of other SA Rappers too
nice reaction, much love from South Africa, may you react please react to Areece name of the song is "in his image" he is amongst the greatest here in SA as well, same age group as Nasty C
I think you need to expand your African history scope to beyond your USA borders, we as African Aficans, share similar stories. we can easily switch between Malcolm X and Steve Biko and still end with the same storyline. You may have watered down this lesson. This is an encyclopaedic mix of Black history mostly travelling between USA and RSA. I believe you may have missed some of the most important parts where he is referring to liberation heroes kids living it up whilst ignoring the sacrifice of their parents... Elon is South African hence the rocketship metaphor... This is might be worthy a Pulitzer Price for music in my humble opinion
I should Find a way or a day where I could Battle Stogie T.. We have Chilled at Battle rap Events.. He would be an Amazing Challenge since I too am one of the best in SA 😀
Ya’ll missed a couple of bars there from Stogie. It’s love though. You can never go wrong listening to Us. I seen this way too many times. Ya’ll gone be addicted to us 😂 A Reece gotta be next #Subscribed
