    • @OmegaTrooper
      @OmegaTrooper 4 ปีที่แล้ว +40

      wouldn't have been Cincinnati as the city was named for the 'American Cincinnatus' - George Washington. Maybe it could've been called Cornwallington or something, so he could be the Duke of Cornwallington.

      I doubt he would have been made a Duke, more likely a lesser title such as Count/Viscount. Field Marshal MOntgomery of WW2 fame was made Viscount Montgomery of Al Amein. (Sp) Then again Cornwallis could just as easily have left Tavington out to dry which seems likely.

      Everything about Mel Gibson movies comes from an alternate universe. For example, Tavington was really Banastre Tarleton and he survived the war, living until 1833. He subsequently served in Portugal and Ireland, then became a Whig MP. There's a street named after him in Liverpool.

    Its fascinating American history. These British Officers truly believed the war was going to make them wealthy land owners in America. So much in fact, they wrote their wives telling them to expect to move to America. The chilling fact is that they were almost correct.
    Almost at every turn, the Americans looked defeated. George Washington's army was almost wiped out (4 times).

      only reason they held was because of guerilla tactics. they may have had losses on open battlefields but they made up for it by nicking supplies and killing officers. Not to mention asset denial where anything they couldn't take whenever ground was lost was often destroyed

    If they can just return under my rule, I can give them one seat each in the house of Commons per colony and one lord for each colony in the house of lords.
    Only Ohio will have two seats each in both the Houses.
    Then, they can be taxed with representation.

    A rare example from a villain when Tavington decides to settle in the new world instead of returning to his homeland in taking reponsibility of his war crimes and keep Cornwallis' record clean.
    Many times when at least one hero decides to stay in the new world or realm because at home, he's nobody, an outcast, a loser, but there, he's loved and respected by the locals.

      Tavington was a Machiavellian who understood the TRUE NATURE of the world and didn't fall for the ruling class's NARRATIVES about being "civilized" and "honorable". He was there to advance the interests of the British Empire. Everything else is just narrative to pacify the masses who obviously CAN'T stomach this fact yet BENEFIT from it.
