    Norm, I’m so happy you are back to work and looking good. I hope your health is better and better each day.. I’m in bed these days on the road to recovery from Stage 4. My kids bought me a iPad. With TH-cam I can watch your shows from your store. The Martin OOO-45 today was special. Your conversation with Joe was wonderful. A few years back my wife and I walked into your store. You were sitting on the couch. I asked if you had a OOO-42. You reached back and grabbed one next to you. I paid and headed down the road. Thanks for the friendship and music you put into our lives. David

    that is the most incredible guitar of its era that i have ever seen and my favorite Martin of all time...great find and thanks for keeping that prior owner in her home!

  • @om45deluxe
    @om45deluxe 2 ปีที่แล้ว +11

    What a find! How rare is this guitar? According to Martin, only 125 14-fret 000-45 guitars were produced from 1934 - 1942, and only 12 in 1941. This guitar is a stunning, untouched example. There are still Holy Grails out there to be found! Thanks for sharing Joe and Norman! And thanks to GC for making this possible and saving a woman's home. Great story, it made my day.

    So guys, what a sound! That’s all I can say. When I was a stupid kid I had a Martin and I really didn’t know what I had. I sold it so that I could get on with my life and finance something else. When I hear the sound of this Martin is it triggers a feeling in your chest and kind of makes you take a deep breath. Really a wonderful work of art that you have there.

    I admire the bravery and skill of the luthier that could or would attempt a neck reset on a pre-war Martin. Even an 80s reissue would give me the meat sweats to attempt an NR. That's a hefty repair bill for that, guarantee you, and it takes a good bit of experience and skill to do it properly.

  • @guitarhiker4449

    it technically is a pre war Martin as far as the usa is concerned because Joe mentioned its from January 1941 and I believe the attack on pearl harbour happened dec 7th 1941 witch led the United States to join Britain and the allies so it was built 11 months before ww2.

    A local guitarist, Jimmy Robinson, generally tours the US and Europe but also plays at a local coffee house whose owner let him play there when he was starting out. Whenever I catch him there, I watch the customers entering and walking the length of the room the the back to order stuff. The stage is directly to the left of the entrance and most people order their stuff and leave. A few customers take about four steps and almost break their necks doing a double take. That's how you tell the guitar players from everyone else. Check him out on TH-cam and you'll see why. Thanks, Norm and Joe.

    I’ve never seen a guitar that old look so new. That is unreal. I don’t think 1941 Martins are considered “pre-war”, however, the term “pre-war” is somewhat arbitrary. It’s certainly pre-war for America. But Martin got materials from Germany for their guitars, so I think Martin considers pre war guitars dated before 1940. Joe needs to keep that guitar. Super rare.
