Páramo Velez Evolution Hybrid Smock Review

- I've been out in Scotland trying out the latest version of this popular jacket from Páramo. It's called the Velez Evolution Hybrid Smock and it is one well-made jacket designed for cold, wet and downright miserable conditions. As you'll see in the video, that's just what we got during our time testing it around Glenmore Lodge Outdoor Training Centre.

I've had a love / hate relationship with paramo since their humble beginnings. Too hot for Spring into summer, and I've found no matter what I do the light weight variants leak under sustained rain, (ciclo being one) so after the full circle of buy / sell I've moved back to pile and pertex- for winter teclite for sumner with a ventile shell, double layer for winter single with double on the shoulders for spring / summer. Works for me, it's puncture proof and Spark resistant.
I owned this jacket for a few months and wanted to love it, but I just couldn’t live with the neck zip configuration - I found it a complete mess and just couldn’t get comfortable. I sold it and bought the normal Velez Adventure Smock, which I find is a little roomier in the body and has a sensible neck zip. Definitely keeping this one!

Thanks will have a look was looking at the keela pinnicale jacket but I find the dwr on keela pretty poor
Terrible review it's rubbish you get absolutely soaked in it from the rain what's wrong with just telling the truth especially when it can cost people alot of money
Hi William. In heavy, prolonged rainfall, yes, moisture penetrates. But when it's raining on-and-off I'd definitely rather be in Paramo than a membrane jacket. You might find this test I did - and my conclusion at the end of the video - of interest. th-cam.com/video/vIY1tMtULBA/w-d-xo.html. Will
@@OutdoorsMagicTV out of interest what would you believe to be the best waterproof jacket at the moment had the Adidas terrex myshelter active gor tex 3l and it's still going strong after 3years but was thinking of sumthing New
@@williamlowry5704 That's a decent jacket. In terms of 3L membrane shells, I've been really impressed by the Haglofs Spitz Pro - not cheap though. The Mountain Makalu is worth a look at too - that's bombproof.
