never seen that boom furling arrangement. fascinating! great for single-handed, I'm guessing?

Hi Colm, it looks better than it actually works to be honest! Ive since converted to slab reefing and I just use the roller boom to stow the sail. The main issue is reefing while downwind, it's not possible with the roller boom as it needs to be centred to rotate. In a blow it's actually difficult to reef even going head to wind. Secondly the sail shape with the roller boom isn't great, getting good leach tension is difficult and attaching a kicker becomes hard. Overall I'm glad the boat has it, as it is handy for stowing and means I can get away without lazy jacks but slab reefing is just the way to go for good sail shape and flexibility of reefing

I so miss sailing with my father. I feel like I may never experience sailing again. But I hope I'm wrong....

Can you tell me how you have attached that solar panel, what size it is and the wattage it is rated as? You look to have found a solution to my solar panel problem.
    Thanks
    Sandy

Hi Sandy, it's attached by 2 NOA solar panel rail attachments to the pushpit. It's 100w, just over a meter long and half meter wide. I run it through the charge controller for my wind generator. The mount rails connect to the frame of the panel, and on each there's a grip which fits a 25mm rail (and thicker without the insert). These can be tightened and loosened to deploy and stow.
It's worked well so far, probably could have gotten a 120w one but all in all I'm happy.

@@SoloSailingSapphira Thanks for the information. I'll use that as my starting point.
Loved your Biscay crossing. I did my first one Faro to Falmouth early August 2022 and will be following your adventures in the future.
