Back in the day Bostoph wasn't no chump. When I saw them on the last tour he was really sloppy though. Maybe he was just having a bad night.

My favorite Slayer album! Stain, Desire, Wicked, Screaming from the Sky, Point - fantastic songs on an undeservedly underrated album.
I never gave this album a fair shake. After listening to this I'm gonna put my headphones on and listen from beginning to end with 0 interruption. It's been 20+years since it came out.. better late than never I guess.

I listen to it pretty regularly. Some phenomenal drumming on it.
One of my favorite slayer albums
Don't ever think of your personal musical tastes as controversial - it's great to be comfortable in what you like, whether it's Slayer's Diabolus In Musica, Metallica's St Anger, Megadeth's Risk, or any music from any other genre.
Jeff pretty much wrote the whole thing, and Kerry hates it because the music strays too far from what Slayer's supposed to be, ie. it's too creative.
Bostaph shines when it comes to drum arrangement. Great intro for an album.

I don't get the Diabolus hate to be honest. What is it people object to,the vocal patterns? There's no turntable or keyboard or synths. It's Slayer and Jeff wrote most of it.
Usually, the comment that I see most, is that Slayer incorporated elements of Nu Metal into their sound...how dare they grow and expand as a band? Right?
I dont get the Divine Intervention hate, thats what got me into Slayer when I was a 15 year old lad. Its one of their best to me and extremly heavy. The song Circle of Beliefs is so fucking heavy you cant help but mosh to it!
Also, Its bullshit "purists" who think their opinion is more valid than yours because maybe they learned of the band before you

You can't expect a band to put out the same album over and over again, my approach is to appreciate the music for what it is, instead of what I (or other people) want or expect it to be.

But, either way, it sounds good, mix and production wise (Joe Barresi did it, but doesn't sound like him at all). Still, good album, if you take in consideration heavy music scene right now, with every band trying to sound exactly the same, with every band trying to be the next Korn of this generation.
