Mexico tore up the $4.4 billion high speed rail contract with China, why?

  • In 2014, when China's high-speed rail technology was about to take its first step to the world, however, Mexico unilaterally tore up the 30.5 billion high-speed rail contract signed with China, causing a huge loss to a Chinese company. However, before it, the relationship between China and Mexico has been very good. So, what is going on here? Why did Mexico suddenly revoked the contract? OK, that and more is exactly what we are going to talk about today. Let’s get started!

Then getting final construction plans done, moving all the equipment, track, railcars to Mexico from China, plus constructing the line and everything installed in the 3-year timeframe would have been very ambitious (if not impossible). I wouldn't say the USA had any influence on it as the USA doesn't have a HSR company, but the European companies should have complained for a longer bid process so they could submit something realistic to compete with the Chinese.
