The only socual media I use at all is and always has been youtube for me. Even then sometimes I feel like my mind is itching to watch more content when I know I should be doing other things. Sometimes I take a couples days off of it, but I end up not really feeling any better or worse, the positives come with equal and opposite downsides for me, my mind runs in circles thinking about useless crap, I pace alot, I get more tired easily. It does make it slightly easier to focus in whats important, but what I've come to realize is that I'm happiest if I can just have a healthy relationship with my entertainment, limiting it within reason, rather than completely removing it.
This video is great! Keep at it dude! I've been looking into this idea for a bit. I used to have 4 monitors at my PC and have reduced it to 2. I've made my phone more unappealing to me by deleting most social media apps, making the wallpapers a solid color, and turning off all notifications that do not involve talking to a person directly. This has been a positive change so far and I think others should do the same.
I feel like recognizing your insecurities and taking steps to improve yourself is more beneficial than to stop using social media entirely, but I do agree that we need to live more in the real world, and spend time on what really matters. Like taking care of your dog :)
The apart is back in January, I got a new phone and never reinstalled Instagram (The only social media app I use outside youtuber) and I don't miss it one bit.
