Have y’all heard of the yxz crawl box? It’s a low range box that essentially converts it into a 10 speed. 5 gears in low and 5 in high range. In first gear low it has 300% reduction. It’s a must have for rock crawling.
Honestly If I wanted to Go for Rock crawling I bought an Other SSV . In my opinion Yamaha should quite the ordinary SSV Business and start building a real Buggy.
Great vid and good review of the realities of the YXZ. There are certainly much better all arounders in the UTV world but there isn't anything that approaches the WRC style experience and intensity of the aging YXZ platform. Hoping Yamaha comes out with an updated design without losing what made the original special.
Great video!!! I bought a 2024 with the 6 speed and absolutely LOVE IT!!!!! Being able to drop a gear or two coming out of a corner is freakin' AWESOME!
Awesome review! I've been convincing my dad to get one as his retirement toy as he doesn't ride dirt bikes anymore. Best motor, transmission & driving experience in my mind. It's a drivers car, not a one upper "Mine's faster" bike. Found a 2020 special edition SS recently that he went for a ride in. Said the power was "kick ass".
I have to disagree on the seats. I just bought a brand new YXZ 2022 coming off 2 seasons with a sweet 2020 KRX and at 6ft6 265lb i fit snug and comfy in the YXZ during my first 15 hours of use. I guess i got a small butt lol. FYI the KRX would fit Shaquille Oneil no problem!
@@UTVSource which Shift would you recommend for fast driving and Corners. Hand Shift is cool and more challanging, the foot Clutch might give you better Control, especially for Drifts ??? On the Others Hand, if you make some Tuning on the engine so it revs much more faster, it could be more effizient to use the Shift paddels, also you have both hands an the stearing . What is your opinion ?
I have real struggle to choose the right one. 1) YXZ 2) some can-am Turbo 3) rzr rs1 I dont know much about durabiliy of all of them. I Just want to Race those Thing fast on flat Sand, gravel and so on, trying Drifts, and Most important ist fast cornering !!! Perheps some jumps. YXZ is pretty expensive and delivers Low Power for the price, RS1 is the slowest one but very good for tight Tracks and jumps for best price. Maverick has Most Power for Just little bit Higher price as Yamaha. It also might be the best racer and has hopefully less tendency to Flip with the 72". But its the heaviest one and Not as good for tight Tracks, maybe those high Power is Not needed. And finally can am and rzr are belt Eater?? So Yamaha is much cooler. Maybe the belt should Not be as big Problem... What do you think Guys?
How tall are you? Do the seats lower you down a little? if so, what seat bases? I'm looking at that cage kit and I am 6' tall just wondering if I will have enough head clearance with a helmet.
I have a 2020 YXZ1000R SS XTR with only 57 miles I just purchased from a friend. I would like to have some of the things installed you have done to your Yamaha. So you work on customers machines?
Yeah it dated but Yamaha and Honda only SXS have a shifting transmission. Pretty much SXS have clutch belts isn't that what snowmobiles use a clutch belt ?
We don't necessarily disagree, but do believe it provides a driving experience unlike anything else out there. 2019 and newer models received some much needed updates that were definitely appreciated (including the intro of the SS model) but didn't go the distance when it came to competing with the other OE's. Luckily fun never goes obsolete, and we think the YXZ delivers on that. That being said, you're not wrong that Yamaha is overdue on some major improvements and upgrades to this platform! Thanks for watching!

We've seen these before, but haven't looked into them much. We'll have to check it out!

Thank you, and we totally agree!
But to feel the WRC you Had to lower the ride! Are there finally Setups and parts Out there to achive that?

Right one! We'd love to get behind a newer YXZ. It's been a minute since we've owned and built one. Tag us in your riding videos if you post some up.

I wish my YXZ had those accessories and wrap! ❤
I want to upgrade mine now 😮
Would you recommend the foot Clutch because it might give more control over the Power ? Does it Help with drifting maybe?

Go to 4:00 mark
I so want that car!!
They did all that work but no turbo kit I thought they would when they make it slower with bigger tires with more weight add to it
How did the new gearing handle the taller heavier tires? Have this same machine and am curious about what I'll lose moving to 30 inch tires
Gearing is still spot-on!

Yeah but you have a shifting transmission and dont have to deal with clutch belts., and you can get a turbo kit for it .
@@funtyes1970 thats a Point !

In most cases we do not, but every now and again we get request for some over the top builds that we can't say no to
@@UTVSource I don't think I would qualify for over the top. Thank you for your response.
Did you guys do an Assault steering wheel with the quick disconnect?
Assault wheel, Yes! Quick Disconnect, not on this one. This setup was the best combo to retain the OE-feel for reach to the paddle shifters.
Is drifting with a foot Clutch easier to do?
Yes in my opinion. The driver controls if the drivetrain slips or the tires.
Man turn off the music during the riding
It's a shame Yamaha doesn't keep up such a great company but the yxz , grizzly, and viking are just to dated .
Yeah it dated but Yamaha and Honda only SXS have a shifting transmission. Pretty much SXS have clutch belts isn't that what snowmobiles use a clutch belt ?
Not as bad as Honda though. lol
That machine has been obsolete since 2016
