Looking forward so much to Sept! Let me know what you've got lined up! Love it if you'd hit that thumbs-up button so we can get some more eyes on our amazing community! Happy Weekend!
Lots of excitement for me in your September TBR! I'm looking forward to Ordinary Grace, and I'm glad to hear it's a likely quick read. I guess we better schedule the discussion! I'll be keen to hear more about your SPFBOX experience when it's time. I'll make a very safe prediction that you'll end up enjoying The Long Price Quartet -- it reminds me of the pacing and character work you find in Realm of the Elderlings. Hooray for Memories of Ice! You might want to tether your mind, Brian, because it's going to be blown away!
Cant wait to see how you like Repairman Jack. Depending on how much you like it I will let you know where to go next with Wilson depending on how completist you want to be.
What a busy month for you! I’m just starting Dark Matter by Blake Crouch. I’m hoping to finish that before September. After that, I’m starting Oathbringer. That may take the whole month. That’s a hefty book.
Looking forward to seeing what you thought of Deadhouse Gates, and what you think of Memories of Ice when the time comes! Also love to hear the Minton-esque sound effects. Gives me a bit of a tingle.
Krueger's best writing is quite good (I'll recommend "Boundary Waters"). His worst writing is very bad indeed (after "Manitou Canyon", I'm done with his Cork O'Connor series). I haven't read that specific book, so I hope it works for you guys.
I am excited to start He Who Fights with Monsters Lit RPG... And also doing a reread for The whole Stormlight Archives in preparation for the new one... And continuing with Honor Harrington and Foreigner series... I am so blessed to have such great books coming up 😊
Yeees, A Shadow in Summer is so good, though I do have to say that that series as a whole is better than the sum of its parts. Also, curious to see how the next Quilluminati will pan out, sounds like a great book! Happy reading, Brian 🥰
Great TBR. I read Ordinary Grace and it was an amazing book. I love Dandelion Wine by Bradbury and I put this right up there with it. Krueger can definitely write. It reads like a classic. I think you guys will really enjoy it. For me, my Spetember TBR will be finishing The Belgariad - i'm on book 2 right now, so 3 to go after that. I just want to finish the series rather than break it up. After that, I'm not sure what I will read next, but I'm thinking I want to start The Dresden Files series...I own the first 5 books in that series and they should make for some good reads going into October (spooky season). Happy reading!
Love to see Malazan on the tbr! I started Memories of Ice this morning, it starts very strong! I’ve got a lot of historical fiction coming up in September with Gael Somg Saga, The Wolf Den trilogy and Essex Dogs
Solid TBR, can't wait to hear about what you think of Malazan. I know Dr. Philip Chase and Matt (Matt's Fantasy Book Reviews) love it and consider it some of the best fantasy around, but I also know many others who've DNF'd around halfway through the series. Still holding off on reading it until I'm out of other options tbh so I've got many years to go
My audiobook tbr: Glorious Exploits, Blood Dimmed Tide, the Silmarillion & Gateway! Physical: Until the Last, Devolution & Darius, book 1 of the Empire of Salt
After a very ambitious (but very rewarding) Summer TBR, this Autumn I am gonna be a bit more mood reading and have no «big chonkers». I know I am definitely gonna read «Leviathan Wakes» (The Expanse #9, Space Opera, only book I didn’t get to from my Summer TBR) & «Lustrum» (US: «Conspirata», Cicero Trilogy #2, Historical Fiction about the eponymous Roman Statesman) by Robert Harris (book #1 «Imperium» is contending for my book of the year so far, together with GGK’s «A Brightness Long Ago»). I am most likely also get to Michael Moorcock’s «(The Tale of)The Eternal Champion» Trilogy (Epic Fantasy/S&S). Might also get to some Rosemary Sutcliff (YA Historical Fiction), David Gemmell (Epic Fantasy), «Dreaming the Eagle» by Manda Scott (Boudicca #1, Historical Fiction) and «Fortress of Fury» by Matthew Harffy (Bernicia Chronicles #7, Historical Fiction). Yup, breaks is always a good thing, as well as it is good to have (or build) a reserve when you are «on top», as a backup when needed or when (as you say) things go haywire. Even if not for yourself, then it can enable you to be of assistance to others, without burden yourself too much. Cheers!
Lots of great stuff it sounds like, can't wait to hear how you like Memories of Ice! My main read for the month will also be a malazan book, finishing up the novels of the malazan empire series with Assail. I also want to try Benedict Jacka for the first time, and start Hunger of the Gods as I continue getting ready to Bloodsworn Saga's ending in October
Yeah, that series has been recommended so often, I thought I may as well put it in the poll - and sure enough, it wins. I hope you are enjoying The Expanse! Love that crew!
This is sweeeeet. I gotta do the long price quartet myself. I’m looking forward to hearing the thoughts on memories of ice. It’s a hard hitter. I’m stoked to see the deadhouse gates thoughts when you do that too😂 7-8 books is crazy-also listening to you talk about procrastination as I’m doing it😂
You'll definitely get my opinion on it before then! I'm really hoping to rock it out in Sept. Should be able to unless Malazan takes longer than expected.
Sounds like a great book list! For me, I'm planning to finish listening to the Tombs of Atuan by Ursula K Le Guin audiobook. And I also plan to finish Jade City by Fonda Lee. Beyond those, I'm thinking of continuing the Faithful and the Fallen or Riyria Revelations series!
I am such a huge fan of the Green Bone Saga. I'm one of the rarer people who like Jade War the best of the trilogy. Yes, on both Faithful and the Fallen AND Riyria! You have a stellar lineup!
@@BrianBell7 thanks! I'm really excited to get into Jade City. I've read the first few chapters and am very intrigued! And I'm definitely sold on the Faithful and the Fallen and Riyria! I know that the first Riyria book isn't always well regarded, but I ended up loving it.
That is indeed a stellar lineup. I like to think about today's OFTR as more of strategic retreat than procrastination 😂 BTW I caught the AMA on the replay, thanks for answering the question, that Beckham experience was funny! Worked out well for you at least.
I love LPQ, especially from Book 2 onwards. Memories of Ice is fantastic, its not one of my favourites of the series but its a great time. I haven't finished these yet so definitely most will be carrying over into September. Nice, Rogue! Keep me posted what you end up thinking of Mystic River. It's on my TBR Mountain and I know Josh at Red Fury is a huge fan. Black Prism was a miss for me, but I know tons of people who love that series.
Some great books on your tbr, Brian! Would be very surprised if you don't like Long Price Quartet. Memories of Ice is so far my favourite Malazan book and I'm very curious to see what you make of it. The Torn Veil -- I was wondering on what tbr I would see that. Well, I would say that's a community service of a different kind you're providing there. Happy reading!
What did i tell you, Brian? I told you LPQ would win.😝 Hope you will enjoy it though. I've no idea what is next on list in september. It's spooky season so maybe a lighthearted beach read. 🤪
I should be finishing A Game of Thrones this weekend, or Monday if not. Then I'll be starting Mistborn Era 2. I want to try and get through it before Stormlight 5 comes out.
@@BrianBell7 definitely loving A Game of Thrones and a little sad to break up ASOIAF. But I think Era 2 might be a fun change of pace to break it up with.
Great question, Scott. I haven't read anything outside of the main series yet. I was sent a spinoff book last month but haven't read it yet. Are you doing it on audio or sight-reading?
Fourth Wing is on my near-term TBR due to several friends bullying me into reading it despite my distaste for "romantasy." I hope I'm wrong, but I fear a DNF coming.

Pumpkin spice it up!!!
Those Broken Binding editions are gorgeous!
I'm currently listening to The Blooks Stones and loving it!
Dandelion Wine is up next after that.
Super glad you are also loving The Blood Stones! Such a great book! I need to get Dandelion Wine on TBR Mountain!
Glad you’re going strong with Malazan!
I’ve got lots of self-pub on the list for September and Abercrombie as well
Thanks, Usman! Can't go wrong with Abercrombie IMO!!
