Thanks! I’m jealous about you living in Long Island, what a subliminal area to own a house. Saw a couple of “For sale” signs in that region, hummmm, lol.
No way, next time come by for a chat! Merrickville? Your little village keeps us coming back as it is so charming in many ways and we had the privilege to taste Canada’s top rated sorbets!
It is pretty good sorbet! You guys were not on deck and I certainly wouldn’t disturb you unannounced. I’ll keep following you as you continue on your holiday and perhaps we can meet on your return trip. I could have sworn that I saw “Anchor girl” on the bow of your boat in your last video…. Safe travels and enjoy the Rideau.
Nice one guys! We did a portion of Rideau the first week of June. Last year as well. Both times we were lucky enough to have colonel By island to ourselves. Hopefully you can stop as well. Keep us posted!
I hear you, June is a great time to travel for many reasons :) Colonel By island sounds intriguing, we’re browsing about it now… might make the point to visit it… what did you like about it?
@@TheRetiredBoaterwe were lucky, as I mentioned, since all three times we stayed there we were almost completely alone. So it was like having a private island! There are bathrooms that were really clean, there is a path that you can walk the entire perimeter of the island. On the far side there is a sign about a local mini-tornado that cleared a path…. Last time we were there, first week of June this year, I flew my drone inside the house, it is pretty cool but the roof joists are starting to fail, so won’t be too many more years before it falls in. Also take your dingy around the island too, it’s very pretty on far side. Each time we stayed on the smaller single dock that’s in front of the house and you can catch small mouth and pike by casting towards shore to your right…. Enjoy.
What a great first leg of the vacation. I so want to do the Erie Canal next summer and go thru the locks. The Rideau and Trent Severn would also be a great adventure but that is a lot of distance to cover. Curious what editor you use to do your videos. I use CapCut, which is free, but it is sort of limited what it can do. I had both of my alternators rebuilt last week and now they are up to where they should be. I will getting new canvas sometime this summer and then I think I am ready to rock and roll. Safe travels to you and your Admiral.
Indeed a lot of fun adventures and new ones already, ha. Yes, once you retire (next year I think?), I imagine time will be on your hand? My son helped me initially with his editing software but now, while away on the water, I use CapCut as well. Nice to have the alternators rebuilt, I wonder what where the symptoms? New canvas soon, which colour? You’ll be the cool kid on the block: mine have a few years left in them. My Admiral really admires your Admiral comment, ha!!
@@TheRetiredBoater I noticed the starboard engine voltage meter when I started the boat and was in idle would be 12.2 volts. If I moved the throttle forward it would increase to 13.7 volts and return to 12.2 volts when I retarded the throttle. The port would only do it once in a while. The port had a diode that was going out and the starboard was already gone. I am going with a dark blue canvas.
Thanks for the intel, will keep that in mind if, or should I say, when, the time comes to make a diagnostic. Glad it solved your issues. I’m already imagining your dark blue canvas…
Great video! You would have gone past my house south of Long Island locks. Looking forward to seeing the rest of your vacation. Enjoy!

Sounds like you two are having a great time! Keep them coming, @theretiredboater!
You bet! We’re feeling the magic of vacationing and soaking in every moment. We wish it to all!

Saw you guys docked in Merrickville. How did you enjoy visiting my little village? Enjoy the rest of your vacation on the Rideau!

Don’t be surprised if the island appears on a video as that’s about where I’ll be for a week or so starting next week :)) I appreciate the info!
