Always glad to see someone willing to go through and show off this side of Shadowheart. I personally could never go through with her Shar path, which I know is literally half of the work that her voice actor put in. Still, Selunite Sweetheart is still best girl
Even though didn’t romance her yet, she was at least always my bestie in the end. So i still can say, our shadow has the sweetest heart when she finds herself with Selune 🌙
The voice actress for Shadowheart (Jennifer English) did a brilliant job here. You can hear how pained/ regretful she is not to be with the Player character as well as other things despite not being able to entirely admit it. Makes my vote for Selunite Shadowheart even easier.
This is such a heartbreaking story for Shadowheart. And there’s an ocean of sadness to unpack in this epilogue. One thing I have been thinking about lately is the theory that Shadowheart’s source of divine magic has always come from Selûne. I think this entire conversation gives even more evidence to support that. For context, the theory is rooted in the idea that Shar is using Shadowheart as a puppet, wiping her memory and brainwashing her to obey. We see evidence to support this more clearly in the alternative path, because Shadowheart doesn’t lose her powers after rejecting Shar. Of course, there’s an argument to be made that Aylin advocates for Shadowheart to Selûne when she rejects Shar in the Shadowfell. But since we know Shadowheart was a Selûnite before being kidnapped by Sharran disciples. I think it’s reasonable to suggest that Selûne wouldn’t have abandoned her. Especially since Selûne is a very motherly and empathetic goddess. In any case, the reason I think this theory is relevant given the epilogue is because clearly Shadowheart’s subconscious rejects Shar. Her memory has been wiped once again, and will probably continue to be distorted, but she still wants to protect Tav. Going as far as to say that she’ll use her powers to keep Shar away (7:07) and that they’re “far too cunning” to be influenced (9:44). The latter, on its own, could be interpreted differently, but combined with the former, it seems like she wants to shield Tav from Shar. Since Shadowheart was clearly groomed through and through from the beginning. From being encouraged to torture her parents, the memory loss, the mark to bring her pain anytime she deviates, killing Nightsong, staging a coup against Viconia, being pushed to kill her own parents, etc. It screams Shar crafting an environment for someone who’s not Sharran and trying to force them into darkness. Ultimately, creating such a lonely and sorrowful environment that the thought of the pain being irrelevant on a divine scale is the only comfort (6:29). This has “I’m going to manipulate this body to punish Selûne and her followers” written all over it. There’s even more evidence to support this in Shar’s dialogue about Shadowheart’s parents being the most loyal Selûnites. She probably went out of her way to target their daughter just to make some kind of sick and twisted point about corrupting the light. This becomes more clear with Shadowheart’s reflections on Viconia (10:44) combined with her current experience as Mother Superior (10:09). The gig clearly sucks (for lack of more elegant phasing) and despite the gaslighting, I think Shadowheart knows that. In a lot of ways I think she’s using her current duties to distract herself until she can find refuge in Tav again. Or even just finding refuge in genuine friendships and connections in general. Almost as if she’s telling herself that Tav will always come back to her and “save” her, however briefly, from her duties (2:47 & 3:29). The way she frames it in the conversation comes across like Tav is the one who will miss her-and although on some level that’s true-I think it’s Shadowheart that needs Tav to keep coming back. Going as far as to say she’s in charge and they can come by anytime (9:00), she’ll keep wine aside for their visit (9:17), and insists there’s still things to love about her (5:30). It all comes across like words of desperation, to not lose anymore than she’s already lost. Tl;dr I really think Shadowheart was intentionally targeted by Shar to hurt Selûne. But in a bittersweet way, Selûne is always by her side, lending divine magic, and giving her moments to find the light again. For that reason, I think her father was right and that she will realize one day… But not this day.
Damn that’s so beautifully tragic, I kind of like that, it’s a second (more fucked up) chance of redemption. Which is a whole lot different from any of the other bad endings lol

Despite that being down right awful and tragic unto itself. I think it makes it even less likely that she’d be able to break free from Shar. Kind of showcases why Shar has had such a profound influence over people. Gaslighting them into circumstances that abound with loss and grief, so that remembering is to forever struggle to forgive themselves.
I did DJ path with her right after finishing the game the first time with the Selunite ending.. I was curious to know everything about my sweet angel. I WAS SO WRONG................ I Knew that this was her "evil" path, but dude is not even evil.. Is just so sad, when you know her personality in selunite path then you see how she is in DJ path.. I don't know.. She is the sweetest heart on the planet forced to do evil things just for duty and because she thinks she owe her life to Shar. Shar keeps taking her memories and you can't really do nothing about it. She is extremely sad in voice acting too, it just makes everything so hard to watch :c And the epilogue was the toughest thing, she just says things and you can clearly hear from her voice that she is NOT happy, she gave everything to Shar and will become just another Viconia

Especially if you helped save her parents, because she is radiating joy and so excited about your life together in that epilogue. Jennifer did a great job capturing Shadowheart as a character and how the darkness would impact her. I agree that it’s simply hard to watch her story go this way.
I thought Dark Justiciar Shadowheart would be evil, but it's the opposite and it makes me even sadder. Shadowheart has the same personality in both routes, but in this one she's repressed by Shar.

I didn't finish watching the video yet, but it looks like they've broken up but still miss and yearn for each other so much and from time to time they seek to spend a night together to fully love each other only to be separated again until the next time 😭
Things like this always make me think that no matter which way you take Shadowhearts story, she is not truly an evil aligned character. Even as a DJ, you can tell that she’s not all the way sold on Shar, she just is prodded that way. You can always sense that something is wrong, I think that the writers and her voice actor did a great job conveying that
It's pretty incredible how many lines Shadowheart's VA managed to record where she basically gaslights herself into believing Shar was the right decision. This is absolutely awful to look at, yet alone experience. Then again, I'd never romance Dark Justiciar Shadowheart, the whole thing is just screwed ten fold.

The only thing good about this version of Sheart is her black hair. I really didn't like what the rehabilitating Sheart did to her hair, though I never told her that.
I mean, I have a question: what if you kill the nightsong in act 2, BUT then refuse to kill her parents in act 3? Can she still be redeemed? Does the disturbing romance scene in act 3 play the same? Does she still "break up" with you?
She can still be redeemed, yes. The act 3 romance scene won't play out at all, but she won't break up with you so the epilogue will play out and it's the same as romanced Selûne Shadowheart's with her parents saved.
It's not a mod, it's a dress she'll automatically wear in the epilogue when she's on the Dark Justiciar path. But if you're on pc, you can get this as a mod for the base game as well.
I always say this is a much better ending than leaving Shar yet freeing her parents. Either give her full liberation, or let her be a whole-hearted thrall, half-assing it either way is just plain dumb.

You know what I've come to think from watching this? Maybe I'm reading too much into things, but even though Shadowheart claims to be happy with being a Dark Justicier and a faithful servant to Shar, and how she'd gladly do everything in Shar's favor again... the way she talks about her responsibilities says otherwise, and there's a heavy weight in her voice thar just makes her sound so miserable.

She can still be redeemed, yes. The act 3 romance scene won't play out at all, but she won't break up with you so the epilogue will play out and it's the same as romanced Selûne Shadowheart's with her parents saved.
