Hi Thomas. Thank you for the videos you show, they are awesome. When you attach the union to the fuel pump it has an extra nipple and then links to the last injector. What is that part called so I can get hold of one please?
I'm dealing with a eurovan 2.4 that has seems to lose prime. Only thing I haven't checked yet is the thermotee on the fuel filter. I work on TDIs regularly and my specialty are swaps but this 2.4 is a sluggish pain in the rear to work on lol.
Start with the simple stuff... fuel filter, thermal valve, check inside the tank that the pickup screen is not restricted, check cam / crank alignment at TDC and correct pump timing with a dial indicator. Loss of power in some cases (that people don't recognize) could be a clutch that's slipping.
@@EXOVCDS yes I have enough experience to know what clutch slip is like its not sluggish as in running poorly just not what I'm used to considering I put tuned tdis in everything lol. mainly concerned about the loss of prime. Looks like it takes an AHU style fuel filter so luckily have those in stock. Thanks for the reply

there was lots off white smoke that's one off reason we had to repair it was also leaking fuel from throttle spindle it still smoke but not a lot and more gray smoke now we will have to check timing again thanks for the help much appreciated

At 0:57 of the following video... you can see a "bushing" at the top of the screen / 12 o'clock position. That's the bushing which the accelerator shaft goes through. @@EXOVCDS OH MY GOD I JUST SAW THIS , WOOHOO . thank you so much for this responce , I owe you one . We finaly took off the springs and added a washer on the outside and it stoped leaking but for how long , my local garage buddy , he probably didnt put the springs on exactly as they were , the excelarator is light as a feather , has very little pull back , got to be carefull driving . Rebuilding is still next best thing ! thank you for your videos , my channel is full of music , if you like music :o)
Dude , thank you so much for all the great videos !!! I wish I would have met you when I was out west :o) My eurovan made it from Quebec to the Bc islands, down to Cali and back again , no problems . I do have an injection pump leak now , but that was because of the winter we just had here. I have to take mine apart , and I am looking for a seal maybe for the shaft , are you familiar with theses shaft seals ?

You can find DIY Articles / Videos online. 2 months ago I replied to you with a couple of links to pump videos... showing disassembly / part location. You can probably find a BOSCH service booklet online as well. They usually contain part numbers.
Thankx again so much really , means a lot to me , my van traveled a familly of 7 for 7 years , now at home we are down to two kids , others all grown up , the van is still our favorit transport ! Hi I can't quite see which one is the feed and which one is the return, one my T4 1900 the top one is blue and the bottom one is white, an I right to think the top blue is the feed? Thanks.
@@EXOVCDS cheers for the reply! Having a right nightmare trying to get the pump primed. It’s had the pump swapped out and all the lines to the injectors are dry as a bone. AAB engine, any other tips?
@@Wildearthcampers fill the pump at both banjo bolts and make sure that the filter is full. Crack the injector nuts loose and crank the engine until fuel seeps past the nuts. Tighten nuts and then try to start.

i run my 2.4d on wvo and i run out of fuel all the time, when i switch back to diesel maintank i have no problems starting. this pump should be self primeing
@@EXOVCDS i really dont know but a small leak in the fuel system can make it harder and perhaps not able to self prime. or perhaps a fuelline/hose is located wrong as in higher than the pumpe and creating a air lock. the pumpe will run fine even with tons of leaks and air getting in, but think even small leaks will make the priming harder. - just my expirience of fooling quite a lot around with running these engines out of fuel and on differend visconsity fuels
@mnp3713 when I don't see fuel in the pump, I had fuel to the pump. It's quicker and puts less stress on the starter. I think over the last 20 years, I only had to prime 5 pumps.
The relay can be bench tested... what makes you think there is a problem with the pump? If the engine is running hot, check the fusible links for the fans, the thermostat and the radiator fan fin shroud (if the fins don't open, then the engine will run warmer than it should).
The engine is not running hot,it actually takes a long time to get to normal temperature Fans work everything works fine. I was wondering because i remember the auxliliary water pump would come on for a few min then off after a trip

***** hello, Thomas, the engine is a 2.4 diesel, replace water pump, timing belt, valves tappets, I did everything. PMS is the injection pump is on the mark with support pump pulley, Diesel has quite the pump is full and nothing that said you can help me a big hug

***** cheers we got the pump filled ok but it struggles to fire when it dose its not for very long as if its starved off fuel any ideas thanks
shaw4020 If there is a lot of smoke out the exhaust, then the timing is wrong / out or the glow plugs are not working.
there was lots off white smoke that's one off reason we had to repair it was also leaking fuel from throttle spindle it still smoke but not a lot and more gray smoke now we will have to check timing again thanks for the help much appreciated

I don't know the size of the fittings, sorry. Remove one of the banjo bolts (17mm) and measure the bolt diameter or the fitting itself.

How come I had to prime it? Customer ran out of fuel. He put fuel in tank and engine did not start. I primed the pump and the engine started. Why?
