Wild Horses, Sympathy for the Devil, Angie, You Can’t Always Get What You Want, Satisfaction, Brown Sugar, Paint It Black, Jumpin Jack Flash, Ruby Tuesday, Gimme Shelter, Midnight Rambler, Street Fighting Man, Honky Tonk Woman, Start Me Up…….
My love affair with The Rolling Stones has continued unabated for almost 60 years now. So glad you’ve started listening to them. There’s so much to experience with them. They are touring again in 2023. I’ve seen them many times and most recently, I lived close to where Keith Richards lives in Connecticut. (I moved to California in 2021.) Rock on, Verdy. 🌻

Great music! The Rolling Stones had a double greatest hits album, "Hot Rocks" by 1971, and covered 1964-1971. I love this older sound best, but they have a huge catalog of music that I love. Enjoyed this.

  • @davidspalten1304

One of the cool aspects of the Stones was that the rhythm section of Bill Wyman on bass and Charlie Watts (RIP) on drums had real chemistry and you can hear them tighten up the rhythm as this song is in its later stages. Wyman was once later quoted as saying he usually was early to the beat and Watts was slightly late, giving the band's harder rock songs a slightly rough edge.
Really interested to hear the upcoming album reaction!

Brings back memories of my childhood! When we were about 16, a bunch of us decided to set up a group. I auditioned for the lead singer, but was not chosen 😪. They performed in a local church hall and did "Get off of my Cloud" by the Stones. That was in 1971. They did not become famous, but one earlier pupil at our school did. His name was Jeff Beck!

"Can't you hear me knockin," "Street Fighting man," "Sympathy for the devil," "Ruby Tuesday," "Angie," "It's only rock and roll," ""Honky tonk women," "Gimmie shelter," "Brown Sugar," "Miss you," I mean it's a REALLY long list of irresistibly great listening experiences, lol! Hope you choose to check out at least a few of them! Great reaction as always!

Personal opinion, this is an ok song. Streetheart added so much to it like the instrumental portion. The bass line was superb. The Stones performed it, Streetheart attacked it. I do like the Streetheart cover a lot more.

Verdy the Rolling Stones are a band that you could literally spend the next two years reacting to their 30 studio albums and 12 live albums. But as an introduction to the band especially to their early work like Under My Thumb you should just for your own entertainment take a listen to Hot Rocks it's a compilation of their best work from 1964-71. I will be looking forward to see what album is on your list Sticky Fingers, Some Girls

Looking at some of the comments, I see a couple of Rolling Stones song lists. All of them are greats songs, but they missed one of my all time favorites... "It's Only Rock'n Roll" "If I could stick my hand in my heart, spill it all over the stage. Would it satisfy ya? Would it slide on by ya? Would ya think the boy is strange?" (Thank goodness no one can actually hear me singing 🥴)

The 2nd time I saw the Rolling Stones, they started the concert with this song. It's not a xylophone, it's a marimba, a wood block with thin metal keys played with one's thumbs Mick Jagger - vocals
Keith Richards - acoustic guitar, lead guitar, fuzz bass
    Brian Jones - marimba
    Bill Wyman - bass
Charlie Watts - drums.....................Kind regards Scott Rowland

You’re thinking of a Kalimba which is an African thumb piano. A marimba is like a xylophone only much larger and has wooden plates instead of metal like the xylophone. But you’re right about it being a marimba.

    1) That is a marimba and not a xylophone in that song. The way to remember the difference is a xylophone has a metallic sound when struck and the marimba has a wooded tone. 2) An actual band member played the marimba, not some hired studio musician. His name is Brian Jones.

Yeah, I’ve always hated this song. The annoyingly chipper melody, the ridiculously chauvinistic lyrics. I hate that this song has cemented itself in the zeitgeist so much because I think it just sucks, especially since you have a song like Mother’s Little Helper on the same album. Very backwards in thinking imo.
