The problem of can't delete files from USB occurs when the file that you’re trying to delete is in a locked state, i.e., it’s being used by another user or an application. Whenever a file is in use, the system automatically puts it in a locked state, which means you won’t be able to delete or move it at all.
However, if the file is not in a locked state, there’s a huge probability that the file is only available in read-only mode or you don’t have write permissions on the USB drive. In both cases, however, you can easily change a few settings and delete the desired files without any hassle. I have a 60 GB mobile telephone memory card but now it is full. So, I copied its content to my computer. After copying the content, I tried to format the memory card, but it didn't work. So, I manually deleted all the files. After that I checked, it was empty with 60 GB space. However, I copied a few things from my computer to the card and then ejected it from the computer.When I put it in my mobile, the card is full with all its old content and nothings of new things I had copied. I repeated this deleting process several times, but the same result. I run the Diskpart command also, but didn't help.

Had a file that I could not delete. I followed your steps but had to adjust a bit, Changed attributes. Closed out of administrator command prompt and went into command prompt. Manually typed in the drive letter, I:\(beginning of file name, followed by * (for wild card).(file extension) Worked first time. It helps that I have been using computers since 1992 and still remembered dos commands. But if not for your video the damn file would still be on my system, so Thank You!
Had problem deleting just one map on a usb stick. Windows 10. Could delete other maps, so stick is not read only. No permissions applicable, file system is fat32. In the command prompt dir on the map says "map empty", but rmdir says map "not empty"??. Reboot of laptop does not help. So, at last I tried check filesystem (from properties on drive letter). Got message "not necessary", but did it anyway. Afterwards the situation is even worse: the map is still there, but 8 other maps which were not empty and I wanted to keep, turned into files without extension. Their original contents probably lost. Thank you Microsoft.

First enter into the run window by pressing windows key + R then type "dispart" and enter then type list disk and find your device then select the disk by typing " select disk "letter"" then type "attributes disk clear read-only" this should clear the write protection.

Type cmd in search 🔍 -> left click run as administrator -> type your drive location e.g e: -> type del filename.txt
