I did do this in the 3.1 version of the game so item levels were worse and some bosses had more health. Q: How many hours of playtime do you have? A: At the time of the flawless around 300 hours, over the span of ~2 years. Q: Does Custom Mode & Assist Mode work? A: Yes, I used Custom Mode to limit the item pool for example (resetting 24/7 because of a non-ideal build is boring). Assist Mode should also work, but I heard it's quite buggy (as of version 3.2). Q: What did you enable in Custom Mode? A: Only the Cursed Sword, Ramparts, Face Flask & Corrupted Power. The Ramparts shield can be found on the colourless altar at the start of the run and since 3.2 on any legendary altar. Q: Wouldn't a legendary Cursed Sword be better? A: It depends, you can't use any other item except for the CS if it's legendary. You could use your skills and then equip the CS but that would still prevent parries (which were a major crutch lol). Q: Why didn't the "Radiant Triumph" outfit drop? A: I played in the 3.1 beta and there was a bug that automatically unlocked all the Boss Rush outfits. I couldn't even invest the 2000 cells for that outfit and I actually wanted to do that... Q: It's been 2 months, why no vids bruv?! (no one actually asked this lmao) A: I'm kinds new to video editing and am making guides for the game besides actually playing other games, so it just takes a long time to actually do something good (I wanted to make a well edited in-depth Scarecrow guide, but oh well...)
@@Bladieblah Finally checked, my stats are: - 749 runs/games - 32 wins - 156 deaths (these stats look so weird cause I farmed blueprints & cells at one point, which forced me to restart often)
@@Tom-rd8dd There are no flawless achievements as of now, you could even activate more Custom Mode mode settings and even use Assist Mode if you want to cheese it even more. In this successful attempt I only limited the item pool, which already helped quite a lot.
I’m impressed with how effective this build seems to be. I got back into the game recently and have been attempting these ridiculous flawless challenges. (Almost 500 hrs of playtime on 5BC; it’s no easier for me, either.) I initially tried the passive damage approach of Alchemic Carbine, Hokuto’s Bow, Double Crossb-o-Matic, and Tesla Coil, where the goal is basically to not have to attack at all and just focus all of my attention on dodging. About 6 hours or so later, I never made it pass the second boss flawlessly in the Tier 2 challenge. Now I’ve started using this Cursed sword build, and within the first hour I made it to HotK on Trial 2. (Tried to parry a melee, but he threw bombs; died trying to jump over one to the platform on the left.) Hopefully that’s a sign that this won’t take too long. It would be one thing if the task was simply to beat the boss rushes on 5BC - that already is a challenge that few can even attempt, nevermind beat. But the fact that it requires taking no damage for the outfit rewards just doesn’t make this a fun mode, for me. Mama Tick is a guaranteed loss, for me. If I sit in the corner and roll/parry, they spawn two spikes, one right after the other. If I hang it in the middle and dodge, they spawn the next spike right at the spot that I roll to. Every. Single. Time.
Oh yeah, I see this mode as post game content (the 5bc stuff at least), it's so hard that you can invest another 10-20 hours in getting all the statue parts. It would've been more fun if the bosses were more balanced/fixed (which they are now after 3.2, but the average player will still struggle). Some HP nerfs (mainly TK) and behaviour fixes (mainly Conju) should help. Oh and for Mama Tick you can vibe with the speed of the scythes, 25 in total will spawn and they won't spawn on the same spot. If you're in the right corner then only two scythes will pose a threat to you, if you use the Rampart (I hope that still works, not sure what happened to altars after 3.2) then you can ignore the double stab by parrying the first!
So, progress update on this: I’ve put about 10 hours of serious effort into attempting the Tiers 2 and 3 boss rushes (the 3 x modified and 5 x normal), and I have _yet_ to beat either one. I even managed to get to the final boss of the Tier 3 boss rush *without* the Rampart, and I still have not seen a single flawless victory, and I have since stopped playing due to how frustrating it becomes to die over and over so many times in such a short period. This is a new level of difficulty for Dead Cells. I am pretty sure this is harder to beat than a full 5BC run, even on Normal mode without a curated build. My average run length in these boss rushes is probably 1-3 minutes, so I’ve already died at least a couple hundred times. And it’s only a few bosses; it’s not like this is a Pantheon of Hallownest situation, where you’re fighting 40+ bosses for around an hour.
I felt that joy of not getting time keeper. I lost half of my no-hits to that bastard, took forever. Also I'm dumb and didn't realize you could do custom, would take 10 min just to get a cursed sword lol
yoooo awesome! now I wanna try that build I was playing around on the boss rush, and I remember one run that was saved because I had a colorless rampart against the scarecrow It was a really nice melt (edit: pretty sure I lost to either the Queen or THoTK lol) but not enough damage for a quick no hit (and not enough skill tbh, even normal scarecrow can be a bit scary at times, specially the flying scythes hitboxes) Anyhow, good job! That must've taken quite the time to get! Something else that I noticed is that aparently the No Mercy mutation can bee useful (specially at the start of the run, where you do not have much synnergy), and it seems it really is something, as seen on the video Amazing gameplay!!
Thanks a bunch! I have to agree with the Rampart (it's just a really good shield for this) & Scythe hitboxes, cause those killed me in so many weird ways... And I took No Mercy because you can sometimes skip a phase change or try to get that last hit in to finish the boss!

In a way, the training room helps you fight individual enemies and learn their attacks In some way, the boss rush allows the player to learn the synnergy type of thinking, what works and what doesn't, what's enough to melt a certain boss and what isn't Well, except when it's the "bloodshot", modified verision For example, conjunctivitius, which for me seems very very very very veeeery hard to get a no hit since that bullethell phase is just the worst to dodge, there are even surprise tentacles!! On a side note, if one manages to parry the tentacles with rampart, it should be easier to no hit that attack, although I wan's successful even with that in mind (perhaps a lack of skill)
@@playerpogg Conjunctivius is very hard to no-hit because it's not your usual Conju fight! Definitely bring a shield with you because that makes the two forced Bullet Hell attacks (unless you can interrupt it via stun) way easier to manage. Eventually you will learn the bullet trajectory (note: there are 20 bursts of 5 projectiles!) Just stand in the bottom left corner, parry the Tentacles that come towards you, parry Conju because she will dash towards you every second attack and then have an easier time during rhe Tentacle phase! (The randomly spawned Tentacles carry over to the Tentacle phase, so get rid of them)

You should use jumping, rolling & ducking to dodge those attacks. Her normal attacks always have 3-hit combos (Slash, Stab, Lower-Stab), so if she uses a Stab at the start of a 3-hit sequence, she won't use it for the next two attacks, and that pattern repeats itself for the whole combo! Anyway, those attacks will always create the same Reality Slashes *(in short RS)*. The Stab will always create a horizontal RS, the Lower Stab always a RS with a downwards angle and the Slash always a RS with an upwards angle! You can duck both the Stab and its RS! The others should be avoided by jump away and rolling.
Oh haha, I should'vd probably mentioned that I am surrounded by some very skilled players 😅 Let me remove that bit, this is actually very hard to pull off!
It's a gamemode that was added not too long ago. It's called Boss Rush and has 4 different doors. The 4th one (seem in this vid) has 5 bosses that have been modified, and I did this on the highest game difficulty (5 boss cells) without taking single hit. That's basically the hardest "official" challenge you have in-game, for which you get something (in this case a statue part and an outfit, but that one was bugged for me)
For some people who are hella bad, heres a cheese way to flawless the boss rush and easily get all outfits and statue items: First, hop on custom mode settings and enable ONLY these: King scepter Rampart Ice armor Barricade (diverse deck) You will not need the rampart but better enable it anyways In the additional settings enable the options to make the game as easier as it can be (especially the "All items are legendary" as its recommended to have a legendary scepter) Also the 50k starting gold for you to reroll the items (x2 damage will be pretty good) As the seed put 905852. This will make you fight the concierge(s) first, then the mama tick and you dont face the conjunctivius with its bullet hell attack. Then you will fight the giant who takes less than 20s to flawless and the scarecrow. At the end you will fight HotK (The servants are pretty easy too but lets have this dude) Also assist mode can help you (20% hp and damage) Now for the strategy: First, get the deck and the scepter. Then get ice armor on the colorless altar room. Change the deck to electrodynamics and use the ice armor twice (wear and break it). For the mutations you can choose Open wounds, No Mercy, Melee At the first boss wear the ice armor again. You will have 4 spheres. I recommend targeting one concierge while dodging attacks of both, with the scepter its not going to be hard (I recommend going to the left one first) I found a bug if you go to the room between 2 bosses (with the mutations dude) while having ice armor on and using it again you will get double ice armor (the second one wont freeze enemies) After the first fight you will get a second scepter that can help you some times tho i dont usually use it. You can use both as its not going to have a slow attack cd and also the legendary affix will be more helpful. Optionally, you can get a rampart instead but in later fights it will be pretty much useless Fighting mama tick is easy too, just do the strategy of normal mama tick, when the whole boss comes out you can run towards the boss and spam both scepters. Then, you can take the scepter if it has more damage (optional). With the 50k+ gold you can do a lot of rerolls to get x2/4 damage. The giant can be quickly beaten if you be fast enough to not let him do the double ground slam which can put you at risk. For the scarecrow, just dodge him by attacking with the scepter (Attack, get behind him, attack, get behind him again, attack and it continues until hes dead Then you will face the HotK who is pretty easy too (Use your scepters!) By the way, the reason i mentioned Electrodynamics is because they do fast electricity damage which can really help you (Its actually op, you will see it) After beating it all, just enjoy your free cells and items! Hope this helped Note: if you want to do stages 1&2 use the seed 878818, it has mama tick, giant, servants

@@Sofalex1234 The first altar has a colourless item, use that to get the Rampart shield. Oh and legendaries can have off-colour items since 3.2 as well
I just quit flawlessing it. I accepted that is almost impossible to do it without dlc bosses. Even with decent gameplay, dying to time keeper after struggling to kill conju is just not a good felling at all :(
Oh damn, yeah that's definitely one of the worst feeling I got during this. First I believed flawlessing Conju was borderline impossible but I eventually learned how to do it (when I got the flawless I had a ~40% chance to flawless Conju) but I never flawlessed modified Timekeeper, I got her to ~35% HP in my best attempt but then failed like always haha I really don't recommend to do this unless you have nothing else to do in this game, let's hope that the devs add a way to practice these modified bosses one day...

You can do that since 31.4, it was quite a recent change and it really helps with getting the build you want without having to reset 30 times for a cursed sword!
Because the legendary Cursed Sword has the "True Evil" affix, which gives it another +300% damage boost but you can't use any other item besides the CS (and I wanted to use the Rampart) Edit: Thinking back, you can cheese that modifer by having it in the Backpack, activating FF & CP, then switching to the legendary CS and dealing a ton of damage! Only drawback is that you're locked out of using Rampart
What the other person said, and because Wish is actually banned in Boss Rush (same with Giant Killer and the spoiler skill) Edit: and now some more items are banned too
Does luck even apply after trying so often? 😅 I was lucky to not get TK though, that's the only fight I can't do, I can semi-consistently flawless Conjunctivius, Queen is easy (for me, cause knowledge) and Servants are hell haha

@@speedycookie Conjunctivius is instant death for me I'm trying to flawless the second door on 5BC with your strat and I beat the first two but the final one was Servants so I died before even killing one The optimal route for me is Conceirge Giant HOTK

Now...with wrecking ball, if you please. Anyway, interesting build. I assumed you would have ice armor enabled so you could get the legendary after the first tier. Was melting bosses with the Vengeance bonus that instrumental to winning?
I'll leave the Wrecking Ball flawless to you, you're actually just better than me 💀 And I picked FF with Vengeance because the legendary altars don't give you items from other colours, only the first altar at the start will give you that gear. So I chose Rampart instead of Ice Armor (it's just way better in this scenario) and added more melting power with FF & Vengeance (Corrupted Power doesn't stack so that was the only choice). And yes, melting made a lot of things easier, you can see how I can force Scarecrow to change phases so quickly that only the the Slash attack is used. You can also kill Giant in one eye-phase with that damage
@@speedycookie Surprised that legendary pool doesn't include other colors. Feel like that should be changed... I'm unlikely to do 45F with WB until I find a way to remove Conjunctivius from the pool lol, bullethell is just not consistently dodgeable
Maybe give it another shot? You can at least enjoy the new content without having to progress in difficulty, and then maybe you will have the same skill as when you left off? 👀
All the 3.1 outfits were already unlocked for me because I played the 31.2 beta, would have loved to invest 2k cells for that one outfit though, there's nothing left to unlock 😅
One question I beat it normal in 4 days but hard is hard What to do? I have gone the right hand of the king 2 times and died well I suck idk how to play on pc or controller when I meant pc I meant a laptop
I’ve been using a cursed sword strat in my attempts, but using ice armor and foresight for defense instead. Rampart is clearly the superior choice, it would seem.
In hindsight OW would've been better on Giant, but not for HotK. I rerolled my shield so it caused Bleeding when parrying and that allowed me to replace OW!
@@not_th Giant is locked behind the *free* DLC "Rise of the Giant". You can only fight the Giant by going through the Caverns, which is unlocked from the Graveyard by using the Cavern Key that is found in the big broken door in the Prisoners' Quarters (aka. first biome).

As the seed put 905852. This will make you fight the concierge(s) first, then the mama tick and you dont face the conjunctivius with its bullet hell attack. Then you will fight the giant who takes less than 20s to flawless and the scarecrow. At the end you will fight HotK (The servants are pretty easy too but lets have this dude)
Also assist mode can help you (20% hp and damage)
Now for the strategy:
First, get the deck and the scepter. Then get ice armor on the colorless altar room. Change the deck to electrodynamics and use the ice armor twice (wear and break it). For the mutations you can choose Open wounds, No Mercy, Melee
At the first boss wear the ice armor again. You will have 4 spheres. I recommend targeting one concierge while dodging attacks of both, with the scepter its not going to be hard (I recommend going to the left one first)
I found a bug if you go to the room between 2 bosses (with the mutations dude) while having ice armor on and using it again you will get double ice armor (the second one wont freeze enemies)
After the first fight you will get a second scepter that can help you some times tho i dont usually use it. You can use both as its not going to have a slow attack cd and also the legendary affix will be more helpful. Optionally, you can get a rampart instead but in later fights it will be pretty much useless
Fighting mama tick is easy too, just do the strategy of normal mama tick, when the whole boss comes out you can run towards the boss and spam both scepters. Then, you can take the scepter if it has more damage (optional). With the 50k+ gold you can do a lot of rerolls to get x2/4 damage.
The giant can be quickly beaten if you be fast enough to not let him do the double ground slam which can put you at risk.
For the scarecrow, just dodge him by attacking with the scepter (Attack, get behind him, attack, get behind him again, attack and it continues until hes dead
Then you will face the HotK who is pretty easy too (Use your scepters!)
By the way, the reason i mentioned Electrodynamics is because they do fast electricity damage which can really help you (Its actually op, you will see it)
After beating it all, just enjoy your free cells and items!

Oh and legendaries can have off-colour items since 3.2 as well

I just quit flawlessing it. I accepted that is almost impossible to do it without dlc bosses. Even with decent gameplay, dying to time keeper after struggling to kill conju is just not a good felling at all :(
Oh damn, yeah that's definitely one of the worst feeling I got during this. First I believed flawlessing Conju was borderline impossible but I eventually learned how to do it (when I got the flawless I had a ~40% chance to flawless Conju) but I never flawlessed modified Timekeeper, I got her to ~35% HP in my best attempt but then failed like always haha
I really don't recommend to do this unless you have nothing else to do in this game, let's hope that the devs add a way to practice these modified bosses one day...

You can do that since 31.4, it was quite a recent change and it really helps with getting the build you want without having to reset 30 times for a cursed sword!

Because the legendary Cursed Sword has the "True Evil" affix, which gives it another +300% damage boost but you can't use any other item besides the CS (and I wanted to use the Rampart)
Edit: Thinking back, you can cheese that modifer by having it in the Backpack, activating FF & CP, then switching to the legendary CS and dealing a ton of damage! Only drawback is that you're locked out of using Rampart

- 0-2 BC
- 3-4 BC
- 5 BC

Anyway, interesting build. I assumed you would have ice armor enabled so you could get the legendary after the first tier. Was melting bosses with the Vengeance bonus that instrumental to winning?

And I picked FF with Vengeance because the legendary altars don't give you items from other colours, only the first altar at the start will give you that gear.
So I chose Rampart instead of Ice Armor (it's just way better in this scenario) and added more melting power with FF & Vengeance (Corrupted Power doesn't stack so that was the only choice).
And yes, melting made a lot of things easier, you can see how I can force Scarecrow to change phases so quickly that only the the Slash attack is used. You can also kill Giant in one eye-phase with that damage

You can do it bro. Try running soldiers, dead inside and recovery with the oven axe. That turns early boss cell difficulties into a joke.
I mean, custom mode is always there, try disabling some items you don't like, but keep enough soyou don't lose achievements

This is really late, but why did you take no mercy over open wounds when you had +60% to bleed? Wouldn't it end the fight quicker than no mercy?
In hindsight OW would've been better on Giant, but not for HotK. I rerolled my shield so it caused Bleeding when parrying and that allowed me to replace OW!

You need to encounter 5 bosses in total, two tier 1 (e.g. Concierge & Conjunctivius), two tier 2 (e.g. Time Keeper & Giant) and one tier 3 (e.g. HotK)

@@not_th Giant is locked behind the *free* DLC "Rise of the Giant". You can only fight the Giant by going through the Caverns, which is unlocked from the Graveyard by using the Cavern Key that is found in the big broken door in the Prisoners' Quarters (aka. first biome).
