  • 00:27 Incipit Tragoediae
    03:10 I.
    05:08 II.
    07:09 III.
    08:47 IV.
    11:06 V.
    12:58 VI.
    14:18 VII.
    15:57 VIII.
    17:43 IX.
    19:28 "Geo"
    Structure syntheses.
    1. Each of the 11 pieces of the composition (except the last) starts with a melody which is the supporting column and will give the key for every note to follow; these notes will develop on other melodies (from 3 to 5 or more per movement), creating a polyphony which in most of the cases will try to assume the features of an imitation. On these frameworks polyphonies develop the various inventions.
    2. As the tempo runs at 190bpm, inside the bar the notes follow each other very quickly and in all the composition they create the effect for which dyads and chords and even clusters are perceived everywhere. There are dyads-chords-clusters but as the tempo runs so fast in most of the cases a note will just seem to coincide with another, creating the perception of them: verily, the chord we listen are 2 separate notes. Thus, if there's no difference between a step and the following one, the function of the rhythmic structure collapses; yet everything is sustained by the twisted and choked rhythm that still has that cohesion for which the structure sustains itself.
    3. If the time of 4/4 of the steps broke, it would've been difficult to set the delay. The delay of the tones is implemented on every note (as it can be listened in the "Incipit" from the beginning), thus the rhythm is so pulled and torn that it's suffocated, and this suffocation gives that effect of tension, pinning, general sorrow, in fact the lively parts are defined by a regular and constant rhythm. The accompaniments are delayed too, sometimes respecting the same delaying time of the notes above, sometimes independently.
    4. For the note A to follow the B at this speed with an accompaniment which delays itself or even (for A) to form with it (B) a dyad in which the A lasts 1/3 of the other (creating the perception of A introducing B in a delicate but intense way) produces a very interesting and somehow sophisticated tone.
    5. The word "cluster" is a synonym for swarm or hive. In the movement II, the last piece (06:25) is presented initially out of tune, with a swarm - cluster - of notes fighting each other, producing kind of a war between them; meanwhile the base comes on tune, giving sense to the melody by harmonizing it, and keeps developing - the war of the notes persists until the end, creating the dichotomy of the gentle-tidy accompaniment and the rowdy-chaotic notes.
    6. All the work done through this disposition of layers creates various effects, objective for which the work has been created: effects like the notes being pinched (II, 05:22), blocked (III, 07:30), then hopping and skipping (VI, 13:34), or swinging (VIII, 17:00).

Lately, I've listened to enough deci that I can hear this music in my mind at random times throughout my day. There is some magic here. Joyous melodies and rhythms.

@@decibellic I didn't find it immediately accessible, the way it resonates, echos in my mind... that's what gets me. Plus the picture at the top of your channel I find interesting. Your pairing with architecture and sculpture congruent.
