I love how you emphasize that these shoes cost a lot and are special for you. Sometimes its hard to watch costumers knowing how much the accessories cost and they are nonchalant about it.
This brought back so many memories of opening my very first AD shoes this summer. The giddy excitement is spot on. Love your shoes, the colour is amazing. Can't wait to see them with the buckles on.
These are really nice. Back in the day you could take your shoes to the Cobbler/shoe repair where they would stretch leather shoes as well as place the heal taps perfectly for your stance. I hope you had a chance to do that or found shoe forms online to stretch them a bit for your feet. Leaving them on them also stops them from shrinking back after you don't wear them for awhile. They might be easier to find than a Cobbler/shoe repair shop in these days of disposable shoes.
Thank you, yes I wore them all day at my wedding without any problems. We have a nice shoe repair shop around the corner from where I work. We've taken some of our reenacting boots there for repair, and they've come back looking like new! I really appreciate their craftsmanship.
Your reaction is so relatable lol. I do the same little giddy squirm every time I get a pair as well. Also your comment about "The pretty Shoes" had me dying. I could only afford a pair of historical work boots when American Dutchess started producing shoes. I remember drooling over the pretty designs and detailing. Two years later I got a pair of Bronte Slippers and was awed by how lovely they were. I just ordered their Londoner and can't wait till they arrive. I'm happy to see others share my love and appreciation of their shoes!
I love it! Pretty in purple. 💜 Congratulations!! My husband just bought me my first pair for my (March) Birthday. I chose the green Flora boots! Because of the same reason, that EXACT shade of green in my absolute favorite color! 💚😄 Congratulations again!!
They’re very pretty! For a Beautiful girl! Congratulation on your Wedding! I’ve a bad habit buying my girls expensive shoe 👠 too!love the girls at American Duchess! They have the greatest shoes!!
I love your letter opener. I know how expensive those are. I also feel sad knowing I can’t afford half of what most costumers do. I appreciate this video so much.
I think a lot of costumers feel that way when they see other costumers make something amazing. I have mended or remade and thrifted my way through historical costuming and fake it till you make it has been my motto for years. I have learned a ton about sewing, knitting, and DIY by not being able to afford a historical piece I wanted so I made myself or found a way to replicate it cheaper. It has given me a deeper passion for something I love so I try not to feel that way about seeing super expensive pieces anymore.
Those shoes are to die for!!! And purple also happens to be my favorite color and amethyst is my birthstone. Can't wait to see those shoes on your wedding day!
I wish we could have seen them with the buckles! They are beautiful; I usually dislike this type of shoe because I envision them as clunky, but those have changed my mind!
Purple is also my favorite color also. The shoes are beautiful and look so pretty on you and now I can't wait to see what you will be wearing on your wedding day.
14:55 Double-check before trying, but maybe you can blow dry them a bit (on warm) while they’re on you so that the leather loosens and molds itself as it cools to your foot. I know you can stretch them too with wooden blocks specifically made for it (check your local antique stores,) but you’d have to find your size.
Thank you for the suggestions. I have seen those wooden blocks at thrift/antique stores before. I had not thought about a hair dryer. That's a good idea. 😊
I almost died over your letter opener dagger! I have the same shoes in red. They're very comfortable to wear all day. The purple release was perfectly timed for you!
Hahaha thank you! Its my fiancé's letter opener. Yay that's super great to hear! And I know right!?! Every time American Duchess put out a survey asking about colors for shoes I would answer it and vote all for lavender hoping to get at least 1 shoe in the color! haha
I'm so excited for you!!! I can't wait till I get to order my first pair of AD shoes sometime!!! I really look forward to seeing your entire wedding look, I know it will be lovely!!
I think you can get a shoe stretcher from a shoe repair store that specializes in leather shoe. Check in with them as to their advice on what to do to break your shoes in.
Lovely. Thank you for such an honest look into the process - especially the returns. One question - how were the stockings as far as upper calves? I’m interested in getting a pair but, after years of Scottish dance and hiking, often find that fitting my rather muscular calves is very difficult.
The site says they stretch all the way to 21-inches. That is measuring around the widest part of your calf. If you fall under that and wear a size 6 or larger you should be golden.
You can also use shoe stretchers. I have wide feet too. I love American Dutchass shoes. Those are beautiful, I almost got that style when I was ordering

I definitely feel that too, and I really appreciate your comment.

Thank you! And congratulations on your new shoes too!
You gotta love a girl in stays, opending a box with a large knife to music from a movie where pirates are fighting.

I found the stockings to be very stretchy and very good quality. I also have dancer calves and had no problems with the fit.
The site says they stretch all the way to 21-inches. That is measuring around the widest part of your calf. If you fall under that and wear a size 6 or larger you should be golden.
I love both pairs of your shoes. The ones you are wearing are really nice and look comfortable. The purple shoes are gorgeous 💜
Awe thank you so much!!
