Learn the basics behind how magnetic particle inspection, MPI also abbreviated as MT, is done. To learn more about becoming an NDT inspector head over to oceancorp.com.
So, in Canada here, we x-ray the welds on every joint that has a weld. All the stuff we fab-up in the shop and feild. We pressure test everything too for an average of 24hrs, or whatever spec we have. Wenever we get going on a hot-pass on stuff under 10 inches, we'll nuke that welders pass for a few (3-6), until we let the other two welders do the same, (yeah, even the cap). Its can get going when you're all crewed-up with non-union guys, and subs. I did that before becoming a pipefitter. I never really worked outside of the Oil & Gas Industry. That was definitely by choice. Seemingly unlimited budgets enable you to do/experience things that you couldn't have otherwise. Know what i mean?
Yeah, rope access is used to inspect things like wind turbines, flare stacks, just like you said anything that is tall that needs to be inspected. The only other option is to build scaffolding usually, drones can be substituted for some inspections but typically the two methods are used in tandem. We don't train in rope access, we just train in the inspection methods as well as a primer to drone inspection.
for an average joe will i be able to learn magnetic Particle Testing in 4 days before a test on the 5th day i will be starting my course on the 12th of February
Missing some stuff during my class hours, made it up with your short informative video. Thanks a lot.
Glad it was helpful!
fantastic teacher !
