Adult Swim is something that no kid was ever supposed to watch but did watch anyway because it was there. Now as an adult, I want to watch all the shows that my kid mind didn't like now that, I'm a adult.
i'm so glad i'm not the only person who was scared of "all kids out of the pool"... also it's cool to know one of my new favorite youtubers is less than, like, 10 years older than me. we could have gone to high school together i think
Actually same tho. Everyone else I watch feels like talking to older cousins who are nostalgic for 90s shit and barely know Danny phantom. I graduated '17, my middle brother is BHultras age. I don't think I've yet to see a video where something is mentioned that I don't at least *kinda* remember, if not deeply obsessed over as a kid. Even the creepy pasta stuff. We're the weird age where we got to experience the wild west internet as we came into full consciousness, and then slowly watched social media sanitize and algorithm-ify everything (not saying good or bad or "in my day", that's just what happened) Very glad I found this channel
I still stand by the fact that infomercials was the best thing AS ever did. So many wonderful filmmakers got their start there and I can just imagine being a grandma and turning on the tv at 3 am to see them.
I loved the Brak Show, him and then the bug thing two great characters. My mom was fed up with my singing of brak songs she just supported me in the end. I have enduring parents. 'Driving Down Highway 40 In My Big Ol Pick Up Truck' my my favorite damn it.
I'm the same age, it's amazing to see how something that was part of my life and shows I remember seeing (and enjoying) that didnt affect me as much have such a huge impact on someone else that lived at the same time it was happening, it's crazy
Sealab 2021 is one of my favorites, it's so weird. I also wonder what it would be like if Home Movies didn't end earlier than intended. I'm so excited for the Aqua Teen movie sequel and The Venture Bros movie!
I have a very vague memory from when I was like 7 or 8 in 2nd grade, and I was on the couch with my mom when Toonami came on, and I saw Shin Chan for the very first time. I don't know how long they aired Shin Chan, but that memory stuck with me for years until I finally tracked down all the Funimation episodes my senior year of high school. I wish Funimation did more gag dubs
I’m soooooooo glad you mentioned Alan Resnick and Unedited Footage of a Bear! Alan is such a big part of my younger years and I still think of his work as such a big inspiration to me today. I assume you’ve seen This House Has People In It already, but if not, you absolutely have to, it’s right up your alley. I’m forever looking forward to Alan’s next project
I love how you describe your first experiences with adult swim. I think I was like 12 when I first saw Robot Chicken, and it absolutely HORRIFIED me at first. It was pretty much the first shock humor I saw. Some skits were not so raunchy. I immediately changed the channel but eventually I was fascinated by the raunchiness. Needless to say, shock humor has been mind-numbing ever since. I was maxed out young.
I remember being a kid and my only exposure to adult swim was on hotel tv's. Those few times I saw adult swim really stuck with me and I mostly remember King Of The Hill and Futurama
I was a tween when Adult Swim first came out, and I still cherish the vcr recordings I have of those first few nights anime wise. I watched the hell out of everything else, but I made a point of recording the anime since yeah how rare it was getting anime uncensored
Dude the cow chop mention threw me for a loop, we're the same age (i wasnt allowed to watch adult swim but caught a few futurama episodes when i was a kid)
I grew up watching toonami. I remember they had a whole story with Tom. He started out as a little white bodied robot with a gut. Then, after stuff happened his body was destroyed, and he got the cool new body. They had a whole event where you went online and voted on rebuilding his ship. lol it was so dumb looking back. Gundam wing, Trigun, and DBZ were all on after I got out of school. I would go to my grandparents house after school and do my homework while it played. Simpler times. I miss the 90s
I remember also watching Adult Swim but need to clarify. I was a weird kid, with parents who thought it was funny that I was watching adult shows, and I've been naturally nocturnal for a long time. So I was actually almost exclusively an Adult Swim kid, so much so that on weekends my parents would turn it on FOR me and just let me stay up all night watching this crazy shit. The funniest thing looking back is that horror is my favorite genre so when the creepy transitions came up I'd get excited because they freaked me out, and it's a weird comfort. Once I get internet (on phone data rn) I plan on having marathons of these shows, but I hope I can find those creepy transitions again. I think this is the only time when my parents not caring enough to watch what I was doing ended up working out in my favor, and it definitely shaped my preferences drastically because now I'm a total vulgar dork who likes anime and likes jokes about messed up stuff. Very influential, which might be a bad thing. But also haha Robot Chicken and Cowboy Bebop go brrrr
Hey, I'm a 26 year old, and I didn't really grow up with adult swim although I do remember me on a couch, enjoying my samurai jack and the eds, until something live action shows up and that just meant time for bed. For me it was playing pokemon red/silver/ruby/fire-red on my GB(C/A). The GBC was a pain though without lights. Oh and this was the point that meda me leave a comment, it feels so weird having a 4 year younger guy, practically living my dream. You get to go online and just talk around a theme with just mentioning memories a lot. I do that whenever I have the floor
absolutely loved the vid man! the effort and passion you put into them really shows and i hope it pays off:) would love to see something on robot chicken or futurama from you someday!👽
Adult swim freaked me out deeply cause I was a brainwashed religious child, and I look back with so much regret!! I love adult swim and animation as a whole, and literally the highlight of like 2021 was when the official adult swim tiktok commented on one of my bumpers LOL
It's only by two years, but knowing that I'm older than you kinda fucks me up bc I just assume everyone that knows a bunch of cool shit is a wise, fuckin elder I guess lmao
I remember a time before adult swim. I was in middle school when it started. My earliest memories of cartoon network were reruns of dexters lab and early episodes of powerpuff girls and that era of cartoons and I remember a show called cartoon planet that was sorta proto/kid friendly version of spaceghost and had spaceghost as the host along with brak, moltar, and the gang. I remember early toonami with the little spaceship flaying around. I do remember the all kids out of the pool bump and watching so much home movies cause that was the first show they would show every night, but I had to like go to bed so i couldn't stay up to watch more that for the longest time. I also remember toonami having something called the midnight run, which was also sorta like adult swim but was anime based. I do remember youtube poops being a thing before tim and eric but it was around the same time, and I wasn't a huge fan of the whole time and eric style of comedy. I wasn't a huge fan of xaviar, but me and a friend of mine would just endlessly quote bits from robot chicken and family guy when we were freshmen in highschool. I remember staying up for finals week in college and watching too many cooks for the first time.
Yeah my family also had a maid, and stuff. I also never had a romanticized relation with a person my parents paid to clean my quarters and or wipe my change. Ley us make Space lettuce and snap back to reality, 2008 ADS was dieing, nothing on deck could save it and contracts where bring moved to spread the turkey for harvest. When a man, a Bird man, showed up and did not enough, the block caught the Big C and we are left with The Brack Show. This was Timeless Times with Immortal Joe. Keep on doing things.
And so one thousand million years into the future I forgot my PEN, that bed needs changed and never again will I partake in so many drugs so halp me glob.

I know im late to the party, but I never grew up with adult swim (Im very unsure as to why, in retrospect) but I know of Aqua Teen Hunger Force because of a golf game that was released and I just, I am 8 minutes into this video and I need to say that it was my only exposure to Adult Swim growing up and it was such a surreal experience.
Okay I am at the end of the video, and I now firmly believe that you, or in fact BoyzHubUltra as a whole should in fact get put onto Adult swim if not for some kind of show, at least be put on something like the eric andre show
I was a 17 year old stoner when Adult Swim started & it was glorious. Dave Willis & Matt Maiellaro where amazing creators who found the funniest people with the most hilarious voices (themselves included). H. Jon Benjamin, Harry Goz, David Cross, Kristen Schaal... most of the people who got my money as an adult were just folks who I fell in love with on Adult Swim. Sad that it's become a shadow of itself. R.I.P. 3 Busy Debras 😢
I was only 8 years old when Adult Swim first came out. Those old bumpers, and commerical music was such Nostolgia! Makes me feel young again! I think my first AS show that I saw was Aqua Teen Hunger Force! Also you're kinda lucky you don't remember the dark times of the September of 2001! 🥀🪦
My goodness, I feel old and left out. I am a similar age and never watched Adult Swim since I was an obedient kid. Still haven’t watched it. Wow. I really am quite the loser.
Do u remember this bump? th-cam.com/video/avweG7afqqs/w-d-xo.html it scared tf out of me when I woke up to it when I was like 6. Took me forever to find it
No, but I don’t think I would be able to read it anyway. My tv was small and kind of far away. It’s actually what added to a lot of creepier bumps ambiguity
Do you wanna watch the video that plagiarized you TO THE MAX? A TH-camr named Kinda Hazy really did s job ripping this to death. Its got so many identical elements to it, right down to "thoughts" and talking points. I watched his video and then this one and I was shocked at the 'similarities'. For great justice, I could not let it go ignored.
Adult Swim is something that no kid was ever supposed to watch but did watch anyway because it was there. Now as an adult, I want to watch all the shows that my kid mind didn't like now that, I'm a adult.

It’s really nice to have a good content creator my age talking about the things I watched and played
This^
SERIOUSLY, DUDE HAS RE FUELED MY WANT TO RESTART MY CHANNEL WITH MY BROS
True but man its weird that were starting to get older
One of the most comfy videos I ever listened to, shame that this doesn’t have more views
i'm so glad i'm not the only person who was scared of "all kids out of the pool"... also it's cool to know one of my new favorite youtubers is less than, like, 10 years older than me. we could have gone to high school together i think
Graduated 2019
@@BHultra so like 2 years apart! most of my video dudes are like 35
@@yonkers_millyrock I don't know why, but I love the term "video dudes"

Very glad I found this channel
Also Joe Pera Talks with You is one of the best shows Adult Swim greenlit. It’s just pure wholesome comedy without a hint of irony. I love it so much.
Seen a few epidodes. Can confirm grand wholesome humor
It's so funny, I would do the same thing as you but was like, "This doesn't interest me. Time for another late night of George Lopez."
I still stand by the fact that infomercials was the best thing AS ever did. So many wonderful filmmakers got their start there and I can just imagine being a grandma and turning on the tv at 3 am to see them.
This is genuinely such an incredible video. I feel like not enough time is spent on obscure nostalgia.
I loved the Brak Show, him and then the bug thing two great characters. My mom was fed up with my singing of brak songs she just supported me in the end. I have enduring parents. 'Driving Down Highway 40 In My Big Ol Pick Up Truck' my my favorite damn it.

Oof rip venture bros. Aqua teen hunger force is still goin strong.

It’s so nice to hear someone so passionate about what inspired them, btw would unironically love a bakugan breakdown ❤
This brings back soooo many memories... "all kids out of the pool"
The Lost Media section was my favorite part I loved it 💖💖💖

It's a Jack Stauber song I know that one for sure, just sadly not sure which one 🥲
Dude the cow chop mention threw me for a loop, we're the same age (i wasnt allowed to watch adult swim but caught a few futurama episodes when i was a kid)
i distinctly remember the star wars night and being super excited for it
It’s so cool that you’re born in the same year as Adult Swim! That channel rocks! 2001 is a good retro time capsule.
I grew up watching toonami. I remember they had a whole story with Tom. He started out as a little white bodied robot with a gut. I fuckin love The Brak Show
You make me nostalgic for things I was barely alive for
Adult Swim grew with me so much that its now almost 2023 and they are broke and in crisis... with me every step of the way
omg that car commercial u found absolutely made me astral project back to 2007,,,,,,
Brak Show was my childhood obsession. I STILL sing three hams randomly haha

Before being able to watch Aeon Flux on Sci-Fi, it came on liquid television in the early 90s on MT:V

that’s what me an my siblings called it “the bender show”
Always weird to learn a content creator I admire and relate to is the same age as my baby sister 😂
