    In the winter, I use large rubber lined bath rugs on the floor for warmth. Really helps. Can wash quite easily, soft to the feet and, did I say warmer floor!. For an outside mat, I use an old bath mat (when I have worn out a floor mat from washing). Then, fold them in half when I pick them up from the ground, shake them out, and put them on the floor on the passenger side under our feet. Makes for soft, warm feet.

      That’s a great tip Daisy Mae. We much prefer having a warm mat on the floor for a bit of comfort 👍☺️

    Muddy boots . Here's a Tip for you. Buy 2 x Shower Caps. Left and Right Boot. Store you boots in them or just put them over your boots when popping in and out van. Also you can get Dog bowl rubber mats in the shape of a bone. About 2ft wide with lip. They roll up and have lip to keep drips. Ideal door mat for wet shoes. Cheers from old George and Jane 👫👍🇬🇧

    Fabulous. When I get my van back from conversion in a few weeks I will definitely be implementing a lot of your tips. Magnets! Simple but brilliant. Floor covering also as I am a keen walker so there will be lots of muddy boots! Thank you so much. I couldn’t afford an awning to be fitted at this point but I am going to check out your video to see if I can make one myself. Thank you so much Carol and Ken. Good morning yes hahahaha i made it watched all 3 i found it very interesting as i do intend to do a camper van maybe next year i have saved all your videos lots of very good info, I just have to wait as i am working on 5 classic Honda motorcycles need to finish them to pay for the van :) I am thinking of the Ford transit connect with the mid high roof 7ft any thought from you with the Ford . Thanks for the video keep them coming :) Stay save take care .

    • @LifeistooshortCK
      @LifeistooshortCK  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Those bikes should be worth a few bob when they are finished 👍 I have never been in a Ford Connect but I think Fords are good reliable vehicles and lots of people are using them for campers. Not sure how the internal space compares with an NV200. My thoughts on a higher roof is without doubt you will be more comfortable and its always up. They often offer more storage space as well. Downside is getting under parking barriers. We have sailed under loads of those with our pop top and that is probably the main reason we will keep our van for quite some time to come. Once your van is over 2m tall then you will be excluded from many parking spots. Loads of people do fine with much taller vans so its not the be all and end all. Having said that if you are happy to bust the 2m limit then that opens up a much wider choice so you could go taller without any further penalty.

    How do you attach the small tarp to the van?

    • @LifeistooshortCK
      @LifeistooshortCK  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      We have an awning rail each side of the van. I didn’t fit it but I am pretty sure they just glue them on and plenty of people fit them themselves. We bought the plastic sleeve that has a hard edge that slides into the rail and that was just sewn onto the edge of the tarp. There is a video showing how it was made 👍

    Would shiny alluminiun tape be good for covering magnets ?

    • @LifeistooshortCK
      @LifeistooshortCK  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Any tape would be fine as all you need is some colour. I used masking tape which is very easy to mould around the magnets. Its other purpose is to stop the magnet shifting on the metal backing plate that come with them. Use the backing plates as they make it easier to grip the magnets when you want to get them off.

    Thanks Carol & Ken for taking the time to make these videos. Really useful & I picked up some great tips. Certainly think I’ll be ordering some of the magnets you recommended.
    Can I ask if you carry a fire extinguisher? I’m very risk adverse, so like having one close to hand that hopefully I’ll never need. I use a Fire Safety Stick which is smaller, lighter & way more efficient than the cheap powder extinguishers. If you’ve not got an extinguisher then I’d recommend one of these.
