I showed this to my four-year-old daughter, who just received a pink violin as a gift from her grandfather. She was totally blown away and when the video ended, she said to me, "I want to be a rockstar with my violin, too."
Yeah I had that info too. The Asilum album is great but hope she records something new soon. I discovered her music and life story less than a year ago but I've finally found my favorite artist.
Why are people commenting on this if they dont like it just leave it shes got her own style and is who she is and i think it is great if you people dont just leave it and stop commenting
Wow, she is REALLY talented. I wish I could play the violin as confidently as her! She's playing that instrument like a fuckin' guitar! I hope people now start loving the violin more than the normal instruments. I would like to see her do some crazy Classical stuff too!
I've played violin for 13 years (I'm 19) and I have to say, she's pretty damn good. And even if you do argue that she's an "alright" violinist, her performance is fantastic and 80% of playing an instrument is giving a great performance while playing
Bach - Chaconne As the story goes, Bach wrote it in memory of his first wife, after he returned from a trip to discover that she had died. Bach described it as "On one stave, for a small instrument, the man writes a whole world of the deepest thoughts and most powerful feelings."
yes, part of the Chaconne in d minor is there (last mvt of the partita in d minor for solo violin) but the beginning is the allemande (1st mvt) ...she's a great improvisor and Bach would have loved this as he too was a great improvisor. And yes you are right on about the Chaconne being written in mourning from the death of his wife and in her memory
@Maya Schmidt have a treat and listen to the chaconne (last part of the patita in d minor by Bach) by Hillary hahn or Lana trotovsek...... - also a kick ass transcription played by Mariam Batsashvil for piano by Bach/Busoni: Chaconne in D minor BWV 1004 - i - Live concert HD mariam is so in the zone that at the end she seems possed and needs to wake up
i love love this.. if you listen carefully you can identify her influences coming from vivaldi, beethoven even corelli. she's amazing.. she's the violin goddess ♥
God, awesome job on the filming and editing. It makes the experience all that much more enjoyable. I wish there were more videos made like this for EA. Thanks for sharing!
Yes. Yes it's very obvious to anyone that knows about a decent amount about the violin that she's shifting without the video. The first time I heard this song on the CD I knew she was shifting. Technique is what MAKES performance and sound. Thanks, you clearly showed off how much you know about music. Love, A Music Major
Emilie Autumn is amazing. when watching here play it almost looks like she herself is playing but her mind and spirit are in the bow and in the violin and she is the music. truely amazing. Thanks =)
This is amazing no matter what people say she is awesome those of you that dont like it obviously are too much in the real world and cant handle change because this is down differently than most and thats why its great
She can be any or all. Artists are almost always outliers from the norm. It’s a difficult life. I attended two Emilie Autumn shows many years ago. She only picked up her violin for a few notes on one of those two shows. Still, I could tell by the audience reaction - by those who knew more about her than I at the time - to even that brief move that Emilie Autumn had chops which she was, fir the moment, keeping up wraps. Those were two stellar shows, by the way. Her story is inspiration and her courage life-saving… “One foot/Then the other foot . . . “ Keep going! Keep moving! Keep fighting (just like a girl) no matter who you are, where you are, or what who're going through!!
@rictorven We got sound directly from the PA, so it included the tapping, we also mixed that with the sound from in the venue itself, to get to this result.
I just started playing the violin myself and I respect her 10 times more fot his than I already did now. This is so incredibly hard to do and she just totally rocks it.
You might have known this, but EA actually did the strings for the Metalocalypse episode "Fat Kid at the Dethharmonic" the opening scene of that ep was Dethklok unloading a bunch of feral cats on an island they called "The Isle of Wayward Kitties" which is a direct nod to EA's book "The Asylum for Wayward Victorian Girls"
Just discovered Emilie though, of all things, a Pinterest pic. I love the whole package…. Talented musicianship and songwriting, performance art, burlesque… Impressive.
@sijas Actually... that's Face The Wall (It's one of Emilie's songs.) from 1:17 'till the end. But it does sound a bit like La Folia... She loves La Folia, by the way. :P
The video does, but the music and the likeness of EA is not. A fanmade video on TH-cam is gray zone, but since we had permission to record the gig professionally (a captation), is something else, as we also received PA sound etc.
@myroribrallan95 It's a costume, and like all costumes, It's designed to reflect the character and atmosphere and the show or whatever. She created the look from scratch to fit with the stage show that she designed.
OMG before face the wall she played a part Bach's allamande from his partita for violin solo in d minor... My fucking favourite movement from my fucking favourite partita I wish I had been there!!!!!!!!!!!!
Emilie, we could have a hit on our hands here, IF the "solo" were limited to 1.5 mins and then the band kicked in with a luscious well-rhythm-ed composition, picking up on the solo's harmony, for mass consumption.
I showed this to my four-year-old daughter, who just received a pink violin as a gift from her grandfather. She was totally blown away and when the video ended, she said to me, "I want to be a rockstar with my violin, too."
I hope she's still playing after all these years. ♥️
Lol
But she didn't
2023🎉 still have this blasting out my speaker
This is one of the many reasons why I wanted to play violin. Truly amazing.
Jamila Smith one of the reasons why I did :)
Does anyone know what she is currently doing? About playing the violin, I find it quite difficult.
Zannai Face Dancer she has moved to NY and is currently working on a musical based on her book (or something similar) from what I’ve got
Yeah I had that info too. The Asilum album is great but hope she records something new soon. I discovered her music and life story less than a year ago but I've finally found my favorite artist.
I was her for Halloween. I had the violin and all.!!
OMG. She is soooo amazing. Just watching her violin performance is hipnotic. I hope to see Emilie Autumn live.
It's difficult to fool around with Bach. I like Emile's energy and colorfulness. Glad that she reached wilder audience.
Incredible footage, incredible playing... Emilie Autumn has more talent in her hands than I have in my entire body.
Why are people commenting on this if they dont like it just leave it shes got her own style and is who she is and i think it is great if you people dont just leave it and stop commenting
I've listened to her sing before but I never realized just how amazing of a violinist Emilie Autumn is until I watched this...
Wow, she is REALLY talented. I wish I could play the violin as confidently as her! She's playing that instrument like a fuckin' guitar! I hope people now start loving the violin more than the normal instruments. I would like to see her do some crazy Classical stuff too!
I remember in school, you either started playing the violin or the recorder, so she'll undoubtedly turn this instrument into a hip thing
I get chills anytime I hear her play 🤘🏼🔥

It's... nearly indescribable. She's so good it's like the music circumvents your ears all together and goes straight for the brain.
Two words: brilliant and beautiful. Which are probably understatements. Ms Autumn just gained a new fan (points to self). Great job :)
These videos are amazing. It's really nice to see her in such good quality...I've seen her live and this is the second best thing to it!
It's not a song. It's a story.
God, awesome job on the filming and editing. It makes the experience all that much more enjoyable. I wish there were more videos made like this for EA. Thanks for sharing!

That was so beautiful, Emilie! You can express such passion through your music! It's a great experience to see you do that!
She is gorgeous with such great talent!
Haven't played violin in 6 years. This pushed me to pick one up again and learn once more :3
I love that intense look she gets in her face when she plays! Oh, she is a Goddess!
It's amazing the talent she has and the emotion she can portray through her playing. She's not insane. She's not wierd. She's an ARTIST.
She can be any or all.
Artists are almost always outliers from the norm. It’s a difficult life.

oops!
I see a bunch of typos and grammar difficulties in what I wrote…
My mother was an English teacher. )Sorry Mom!)
She's incredible. Thank you for sharing. This was an excellent performance, work of art.
she makes that one violin sound like three different instruments............and its beautiful
I can only imagine how mind blowing this would be live.
She's blessed with great talent. Great performance.

One word. AMAZING!
im in so much awe right now
This is awesome. It's almost like she's playing out her emotions through the violin. Extraordinary :3
So absolutely speechless. Amazing.
That's so AMAZING!!!
This is why I love her
@rictorven We got sound directly from the PA, so it included the tapping, we also mixed that with the sound from in the venue itself, to get to this result.
fantastic
Amazing
She is amazing in what she does
I just started playing the violin myself and I respect her 10 times more fot his than I already did now. This is so incredibly hard to do and she just totally rocks it.
Stunning

boomstick900 Dude! I knew dethklok did a remix of one of her songs but I didn't know they did that too!
I'm still waiting for that violin to burst into flames... O_O
Pedazo de solo!
Precioso
She does things only I thought Yngwie could do to a guitar. She's talented. Brought tears to my eyes.
Goosebumps.
this is amazing...
At first I cried because the music is so beautiful then I cried because Emilie is so beautiful.

I is such the melty puddle. Bravo!!
How can be possible unlike this??
OMG!!!!

Amazing!!
I Love Her.
Fantastic. ❤🎉
No puede ser que provoque tantas emociones... Simplemente la mejor!

@BlackOrchid66 Some of these where used on the Opheliac Deluxe indeed. I still don't know which video's are on there. :P
Oh really? I thought it was just my dumbass and/or laptop that couldn't get them to play.
Uau! Quebrou tudo! 👏😍

FANTASTIC....
it's like hearing a ton of guitars grinding but it's Emilie and her violin
ppl say she cant play but she is really talented and this proves it>;3
@sijas Actually... that's Face The Wall (It's one of Emilie's songs.) from 1:17 'till the end. But it does sound a bit like La Folia...
She loves La Folia, by the way. :P

I was 12 when i came across her sge inspired me to learn the violin
And??? Howd it go??😯😯😯😯

@Semirhage666 I got clearance to post these on TH-cam, not to offer 'em for download. I'm sorry. :)
@xViolinxManiacx78x

I love how she storms off stage at the end like, "Yeah, bitches, that's how it's done."
I love the tea set with the skull
@myroribrallan95 It's a costume, and like all costumes, It's designed to reflect the character and atmosphere and the show or whatever. She created the look from scratch to fit with the stage show that she designed.
wow
oh my gosh. the intensity...I can't even..
OMG before face the wall she played a part Bach's allamande from his partita for violin solo in d minor... My fucking favourite movement from my fucking favourite partita I wish I had been there!!!!!!!!!!!!
Can anyone make a list of all the songs in this video?
I'm curious about her music now.

face the wall!!!! amazing
she always plays this intro.....i don't know if it is from her own or is a cover or a classical piece
@ayutenshi2 it's the bow strumming the string
Hermoso!!
Absolute genius. ❤❤❤
Wow. That's preeeetty epic :D
God bless J. S. Bach and Emilie Autumn
We played this song in orchestra and it was awesome I play viola so it wasn't as high pitched it was at a low octave but it still sounded cool
she is art
mad skillz right there :^O
somebody just became my idol!
Emilie, we could have a hit on our hands here, IF the "solo" were limited to 1.5 mins and then the band kicked in with a luscious well-rhythm-ed composition, picking up on the solo's harmony, for mass consumption.
The heartbeat near 2:45. Gets me every time.
