Thanks for the shout out! That came out really nice! I especially like your ideas for the sound holes and volume knob! I think lining the box with wood is a good approach to stiffening the box and toning down the tinny sound. I think it sounds great!
Great build, Micheal. I have a Beatle's collector's tin, that I want to make into a short-scale guitar, and after watching this build, I believe I can get it done. Thanks.
Hi Mike. Brummie Brian here from Birmingham middle England. Since making my first CBG at the age of 77 I have been looking for TH-cam videos to help me play and sound a little better and got hooked on yours and your way of building and explaining the know how of this art. I have been wanting to make a biscuit/cookie tin guitar from a tin that I am fond of and this video as usual with your work has given me the urge and tips to start. So thanks mate for all your explanatory videos that I am watching and learning from. Regards from Big G/ Brummie Bri UK.
Hi Brain, (Big G) Congrats on your first CBG build. I'm happy you found my videos helpful. I hope they inspire you to build and play more. Good luck with the cookie tin build, it will be a lot of fun. M~
@@SouthernFireGuitars WOW! Didn’t expect a reply from you Mike, thanks a lot👍. You must have thousands of emails from across the world, so to get mine answered, took me by surprise so thanks again mate, and keep your lessons coming. Cheers🍻 regards Big G. UK
Wow! Looks great. Sounds great. I'm guessing this is the first of many tin based instruments to come out of the Bianconi stable. You are the man Michael.
That's a nice tin whiskey CBG. A magnetic shot glass volume control would be a nice touch where you can take a shot of smooth whiskey between songs! I really love your attention to detail and craftsmanship. Thanks for posting your build... moocho appreciated! Oh, Michael I won a cute Pineapple Style ukulele that Shane Speal built. Posting positive comments sometimes lands you a new instrument to play. Christmas 🎄 came early. I also installed a new spanish style tuning pegs & piezoelectric pickup in a Kay Acoustic Guitar I recently was gifted. The piezo make a huge difference.
Hey Tommy from Jonesboro TN I'm new to your videos you got me thinking so I got to looking around and I have 2 of those jack Daniels tins so I am going to build a couple of them maybe twins or maybe not I'll let you know god bless my new video friend
Brilliant Michael. Very timely as I’ve just begun planning to build a canjo for my son. Found a brilliant round biscuit tin which might give some interesting problems to work around but I’m definitely going to be lining it is some way. Will let you know how I get on.
As usual awesome build. Thanks for turning that into a tutorial. I have been sitting on a Harley tin I was hoping to make a guitar out of but wasn't sure just how. Fortunately for us, your viewers, you teach every bit as well as you play.
Michael, I like the engineering you put into the tin, to come up with a nice looking and sounding guitar! Btw, that was a nice touch with the volume knob, too. It all came together well. And the CBG community is such a good group to help and share ideas/experience 🙂 Thanks for your contributions! I like the intro you’ve recently added to your videos 👍 And may I add….I put one of your T-shirts on my Christmas wish list. If it doesn’t end up under the tree, I plan on buying it myself 😉
I saw your other Video on the 2022 Give A Way and checked out how you build it. I'm still working on my first CBG Fret board. Can't wait till I can start playing. The tin box did not sound Like a tin box , Now I know why. Good Job!!😊
I love it! It makes me wonder about all those metal lunchboxes! Imagine a Hong Kong Phooey lunchbox guitar! Aw, Diggy! Also, I really liked that mellow vibe riff you played. Good stuff!
Thanks for sharing your build. You are always so helpful and fun to watch. I don't understand how your sub count is not so much higher. You deserve so many more.
Great video.. What would make it awesome is a few more details about the actual build. I just picked up a few rectangular Xmas candy tins which I want to make CGG's with, but I'm not sure of all the steps. I think I want to make one as a fretless CBG and maybone as a fretted one. Maybe I'll keep on searching for how to's and tips! Thanks for the video again.
Nice build. I'm here looking for tips on how to build a CBG from a bottle-shaped Crowne Royal Tin I just got. The wood bottom is obviously key and wouldn't be hard to do for mine. The sides would have a whole lot of curve to them though (thino of the shape of a CR bottle). I wonder if I could bend some wood that was reasonably thin and make that work.
Wow, the tone is incredible. Warm and rich, cause the rich ain't never cold🤔. Seriously though Mike that's one of the best sounding CBGs I've heard. Amazing!
Great tutorial Michael. I don’t know how you get your strings sounding so good on a short scale. I built a 21” and just can’t seem to get it sounding good. 😢
awesome guitar....did you notice a difference in sound? I know its early on, but now that you made one, do you prefer tin over wood or wood over tin.....lol.....I bet she's hard to decide?
@@SouthernFireGuitars thanks. I have a Jack Daniels tin...been thinking about the best way to do it. I think mine may be sturdier metal compared to yours.
OK... My comment: AMAZING sound, BUT you basically built a wooden CBG with some tin wrapped around the outside, NOT really a CBG from a TIN! One negative comment I have is once you cut that whiskey barrel in half it lost it's whiskey barrel look? To me it just looks like a wooden knob, sorry. I LOVE watching your CBG builds and listening to you play. I built custom electrics for 30 years, but a stroke put an end to that. Now I'm considering building one of these. Our son got me a CBG kit for physical therapy right after my stroke and it still sets here in the box. That's goading me into trying this. I'd been a guitar player since the 60's, but I can't finger due to the stroke. However, I might be able to play slide? God bless: Dave
This was a fun build, and came out great. It looks like I'll be looking for more cool tins for building guitars. 😎
Whisky Tin "WTG" Looks absolutely Marvelous.
Thank you, Glen. M~
WoW, what a wonderful sound with a piezo. The slide make the Blues come out.

GLAD I SAW THIS AS MY WIFE WANTS ME TO TRY AND USE A TIN. THE WOOD INSIDE WAS THE TICKET.

You Nailed it.
Thanks, Phil M~
Oh my! That is just beautiful! Pitting the wood on bottom and two sides make all the difference in the world... good job! Sounds great!
Thanks Rawling, The wood definitely makes it easier dealing with the thin tin. :)
EXCELLENT MICHAEL ! YOUR A GENIUS, NO ONE CAN EVER FAULT YOUR WORK, BRILLIANT, GOD BLESS YOU ALL.
Thank you, Peter. God Bless

Looks and sounds great. What type of piezo pickup is it? Disk or strip and how have you fixed it? Would have liked to have seen that.
THanks John. Its was a disk piezo 27mm hot glued under the bridge. M~
Thank you 👍
Where did you place the piezo?...Good vid,btw
Right under the bridge. M~
Could you use a standard CB Gitty neck or other premade neck if you don't have the experience or tools to make your own?
I guess you could, sure. M~
Is the bridge supported under the lid by the neck, or is there space under the bridge between the lid and the neck?
Sounds great, by the way!
The neck is supporting the bridge under the lid, the lid is really thin. M~
