Definately my favourite version too. Between Venetta's souring high notes and Lindsay's beautiful warm baritone and John's powerful tenor...this is just delicious. I love the little looks that they give each other through out the performance. Especially when John hits that first high note, Venetta looks so proud. You can see the love and respect that they have for each other written all over their faces.
My favorite version of this epic gospel classic. John’s voice is so powerful and angelic, he’s standing meters from the mic stand and a lot taller and his voice powers through crystal clear with so much soul and clarity, he is truly incredible to be able to project such power from so far away from the mic. All three of these performers were amazing and has been my favorite version for many years. Epic John.
It's so nice to watch a reactor who is already a great fan of John's. Thanks Torben. It's always a pleasure watching you enjoy John as much as we do. 😊
This is so soulful and absolutely beautiful. ❤❤ My beautiful Mums favourite hymn - God rest her soul and my Mum was a Farnsey fan too ❤❤ Cant even see the mic in some of the close ups 🥰
Vanetta truely is amazing and needs so much recognition. She sung with the Ikettes, Australian Crawl, Richard Clapton, Jimmy Barnes and Cold Chisel, but has been part of John’s band for so long. One truely beautiful talented lady. She was born in America and came to Oz in 1982 and is an Australian citizen. 🇱🇷🇦🇺 She has worked with Ike and Tina Turner, Neil Diamond, Bob Seger, Barbara Streisand, Steely Dan, Pink Floyd, Rolling Stones and more.
Venetta, vouce of an angel 👌. John surrounded himself with humble and immensely talented people. No room for the narcissists or the me me's of the world. 😃👏👏👏👏. And go for it, sing with them to your hearts content 🎤🎼🎵
Nice one Torben! Love that you love our John as much as we do. He really is a treasure. I was surprised when I heard he went flat as he has incredible pitch but I think he must’ve been quite tired. You can see the sweat on his shirt! I think the number before was “when the war is over” which has some high pitched belts (surprise) 😅
John was not flat! I love how Miss Venetta looks up at sweaty John like a proud Mama. All of John’s backup singers are talents in their own right and once they worked with him the stayed until they retired.
He was a little flat in the beginning but doesn't make the performance any less great. Actually, it's one of the best vocals I've ever heard. Farnham was the best in the business ...
From an Aussie, it's great that you're falling down the John Farnham rabbit hole. Suggestion for you. Please do a 'reaction' video to the Beatles song 'Help- Live with the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra' from 1989. And 'You're the Voice' from the same concert. You're going to be very pleased you found it, and it was recommended.
Yes I also heard John not quite on key...lol and you are the first reactor to point it out....but if you noticed John's shirt and wet hair...this was meant as a 'cooling off' segment lol....(yea right) I noticed you close your eyes quite a lot and sometimes you miss special moments lol...like when John starts to sing and finally hits that gorgeous high note and Venetta looks up at John like a very proud mama lol. A very special performance here Torben.... waiving from Australia ps check out Stan Walker's version too...it's awesome...
There's another interesting artist who sings this, but not like you think. His name is Dan Vasc. He is a metal singer, but his version is worth watching.
Probably pointless to ask, but in your own time I'd strongly suggest listening to Dolly Parton, "I Am Ready" from The Grass Is Blue album, and if that doesn't move you, then I doubt you have a soul.
Have watched this video so many times time and it always be to tears. They are (all three of them) magnificent. 🎉🎉🎉

Beautifully said Carolyn 😊❤
I 100% agree with all your comments. This is my favourite version also 😍

John always lifts those around him.
Best cover ever. Ultimate singer

This song is that one I am going to play at my funeral

You are the first person in history to call John flat!

Actually, rock came out of a mixture of gospel and blues.
Sorry he wasn’t flat at all! Seriously 🧐🤨
