Probably because before the 3.01 update which just came out where one of that changes is that it scales Sans' HP based on your LV, he had the same HP no matter your LV and by proxy ATK, meaning the fight took an annoyingly long time to beat on pacifist route

I guess the normal ending ends like genocide? But without the Obliteration sound.
Mostly ya. After the half way point of section 3 the obliteration route is almost the same as the pacifist route.
