For real it doesnt feel like an isolated fight, and after the fight the scene where you wake up to Tokichiro, is just a warm fuzzy feeling kind of cutscene
In defense of Hundred Eyes, that was an shriveled old Man, probably not used to combat, who in desperation resorted to using Spirit Stones to drive of the Man who threatened to destroy his entire plot
I mean, shouldn’t the final boss from Nioh 1 be Orochi? I know about Hundred Eyes but this mission where Willian goes back to England is like a OVA episode from an anime
SilverWolf19C I personally view the last mission with the hundred eyes as an epilogue with orochi being the final boss, but considering how Hundred eyes is actually the last boss you fight I understand why people don’t consider orochi to be
Phase 1: Ok, this is pretty cool, you get to fight all your yokai shift forms as a full fledged boss fight. Nothing too crazy though. Phase 2: Otakemaru: *I am the bone of my sword*
I didn't even get the chance to realize what was happening as i destroyed my x button trying to not die. but then i realized most where somehow missing me anyway and it felt really cool
I feel 100 eyes was William destroying what was left of the enemy , it wasn't meant to be the epic finale . That was Yamata No Orochi , but that's just me
@@in4mus85 but nine tails and all the yokai in the series is weaker than otakemaru because he is in legends a yokai god and he is immortal let's not forget he has no weakness compared to what nine tails and shuten doji can do it seems like otakemaru is strongest yokai (ancient) otakemaru can easily wreak her and everyone else in the series, nine tails is basically otakemaru's pet
I swear that when Tokichiro joined the Battle to give that Little but fundamental help I cried. I think From Software should really learn from Team Ninja. Nioh and Nioh 2 should have more exposure. They are masterpiece in gameplay and story telling
They really wanted to drive home that Otakemaru is the strongest of the 3 great Yokai, and might even have been what Interested John Dee and Edward Kelly to go to japan in the first place due to his influence through various hosts to fan the flames of the Sengoku Era, and just ended up making it so that John Dee and Edward Kelly make things worse int he first game.
I know of Shute-Doji, Tamamo-no-Mae, and Sutoku Tenno the Tengu. I’m aware there’s sort a fourth great evil Yokai, but is Otakemaru suppose to be based off of Sutoku?
@@viruschris3160 Ootakemaru is the original Yokai that held Sutoku's spot, and, to my knowledge, still much more powerful than it. Ootakemaru had the Sanmyou no Ken (the weapons in his fight), which made him virtually invincible, could summon storms that rained fire and blackened skies, and split himself into thousands of Oni. these are only the things detailed in the actual legend, but since he's heralded as a literal demon god and master of black magic, it's extremely easy to imagine that he's easily more powerful than basically any other single Yokai.

I see him more as the leader of the Great Three Evil Yokai then one of their members. Also, what was the name of the "kinda" 4th Great Evil Yokai? Nurarihyon?
@@viruschris3160 I couldn't tell you why Sutoku took Ootakemaru's spot recently, because I myself don't actually know anything about Sutoku. my guess would be that something about it is probably more powerful/interesting than Ootakemaru, but I'x need to look it up to have any real idea. I'm also not sure about a 4th "great" evil Yokai, at least not one with that name. admittedly, my own knowledge about Japanese folklore isn't too great either. most of the things I know are the ones that are famous. I think I'm going to look up Sutoku Tengu and Nurarihyon though, they both sound pretty interesting, especially if Sutoku managed to outshine Ootakemaru.

Or is misinformation or common saying. I just remember reading it on a wiki page years ago. Or at least the "Supreme Commander of Yokai" so in a sense the Three Great Evil Yokai fall under his command. Hence he's technically a 4th Great Yokai.
William Beat Orochi, who can be contested as being one of them as well, since it took a literal god to kill him as opposed to a mortal merely blessed by the gods like with the 3 great youkai.
To be fair to William, he was more engaged against human enemies. He wasn't the "yokai slayer" Hide: he was the "golden samurai." He fought bandits, ronin, trained soldiers, and generals more often than fighting yokai.
I also noticed that when Kashin Koji was about ready to re possess Tokichiro after MAria Revived him, the very same Maria who worked with Otakemaru's fellow Great Yokai that possessed Cha Cha, the Nine Tails, seemed actually scared of him, and you know that means Otakemaru is quite the big deal if thats the case, as none of the foreigners were really scared of any of the Japanese Yokai in the first game.
At 01:05 Otakemaru be like "You can't escape.... Die!", and then at 01:20 Tokichiro's GS suddenly appears to help us and weakens Otakemaru. "Are you alright Hiddy?... Don't worry! I'm right here!" Oh God, bless to Yuugo Kanno, so much emotion in this bgm.
after DLC, to think the main game Otakemaru is just a 'evil essence' of Otakemaru and he already creating chaos everywhere, imagine if real Otakemaru doing that,Japan already destroyed and he probably aiming other lands. World War Otakemaru.
Tokichiro coming to your aid is what makes this battle especially good.

I feel 100 eyes was William destroying what was left of the enemy , it wasn't meant to be the epic finale . That was Yamata No Orochi , but that's just me

Gameplay most definitively. Story telling no. But Nioh 2 was a huge improvement in that department.
