Came to ask about this! My cat is going to pass sooner than later and this would be the greatest way for me to memorialize him. That bowl is awesome! I used to do resin work but I'm not set up to do what you're doing. Also, on the gold leaf, you don't want the size to dry completely but to a tacky state. The way to test its readiness is with your knuckle. It should feel almost dry but have a little grab left when you lightly press your knuckle to it. And it doesn't matter what adhesive you use as sizing the 'its ready' test would be the same. Once the leaf is applied and completely dry you can float a thin layer of some clear coating of your choosing over the leaf so that it's encased and you can wash it in the future without losing any gold. Real gold won't tarnish but composition leaf will..and a coating over comp leaf will prevent the tarnish. Seriously, please let me know if I can commission a piece. Thanks for the video. Such a great idea!
I used my dog's hair to make a resin pen blank. He was black and white, but i ony had the white hair. So i painted the tube black and cast the hair in clear. It really turned out beautiful and resembled black and white marble. Really enjoyed watching your project - nice to know there are other people as nutty about their dogs!
You could go online and promote these as pet funeral urns (of course you would have to add a lid) and you would probably make a great deal of money is a short time. The most unusual ideas often have the greatest reward. It was a really cool video, and the pot was awesome especially where the color was lighter and the light shown thru. Great work as usual.
What a sweet idea to honor your stud, Jack! His fur is a lovely tri-color and made for an interesting medium for a bowl. The gold on the rim was a really cute touch! Thank you Doug!
The gold leaf glue stuff needs to dry until just tacky to the touch to work perfectly, but I love the way it turned out on this project! It makes the pot look like it's had a long and well used life. It's just lovely the way it is! Thanks for another great video, Doug.
Ha-ha, finally a bonus clip again, thank you. But you are a creative guy Doug. It looks very nice, almost like a kind of transparent marble-like stone. Very attractive. Wonderful 30 minutes, my friend. Thank you very much and have a nice weekend. 👍👍👍
Awesome Jackpot! Turned out surprisingly great. I didn't think dog hair would have turned out so nice. And, Jack looks amazing after his spa day. Very dapper. Very, very cute! He definitely deserved a gold rim.
Love your Jackpot, the fur gives even better effects than I I imagined. As a dog owner I've often thought of 'doing something' with all the hair we brush out of them. You did it! Great job.
Dog and cat fur can be cut up and added to soil or a compost bin as an enrichment. So can human hair. Though this would take alot of dog fur it can be processed like wool and turned into a yarn to crochet or knit into a scarf.
Sorta odd, but really pretty and unique as a keepsake for for cute dog!! I'll be back to see more of your interesting creations. 😁 Subscribed! Nice work!!

Thank You Dawn, well His name is Jack because my wife and daughter thought it would be funny to give him a middle name of Mehoff, our last name is Moore ! they are just bad.

That came out really pretty, Doug. That's a cool idea I never thought of. My Boykin sheds at least one of himself a week, might have to try this one. 🙂-Mike
Very nice Jack pot! Maybe if you had washed the fur before using it it might have smelled good. The bowl turned out really nice. Nice touch with the gold rim. Pup was cute too. Hope he can father a few new pups too!
Finally! Something to do with dog hair. It came out beautiful. And yes the sizing has to dry completely before you put the gold leaf on. It becomes sticky when it dries. You did a great job, I think it’s beautiful.
I live the imperfect rim of gold. It adds a lot of character to the piece. I also think using the dog hair grooming fluff a wonderful way to remember your special boy! Thank you for this video.
Ohhhh I LOVE that! Manny years ago I had a big black standard poodle and after every winter grow out I’d groom 'three bags full' and always wished there was something to use her awesome hair for. I think you’re really on to something there!! Lots of people keep vessels with their pets' ashes and I'd definitely have desired to have you make one with her hair. 👍👏👏👍
The hair fibers kept it from cracking, like fiberglass lol. I'm excited to sew how this one came out lol. It was either this, or make a fur coat hahaha . My Mom and Dad's German Shepherd Onyx sheds so much, they usually fill about 3 or 4 of those bags when they brush him hahaha.
That`s so cool. A great idea and way to keep your pooches fur and turn it into a lovely bit of art that will last a long time. Wish I was that skilled, you made it look a lot easier than it was. Well done!

I was thinking that too! Would be better than having ashes
I'd have one of my cats fur 😻
I, myself, would have taken it down another .000625" but, then, that would just be "splitting hairs"
.000625 would have been too much. 000623 would have been just right mark
Taking that much down could be a hairy situation
Lol 😆
