I can't believe huge charter busses do not come with ESP as standard equipment. ESP has saved my life on a few occasions. I will never buy another car without it.
As a bus driver myself, I am aware that try as you may to keep out of situations, sometimes the other idiots on the road put you on the spot. I would love to have that feature on my bus!!! And top skillz to the driver in the vid!

Dear Luca and shiraq07It is correct that the coach without ESP was going faster, because the ESP-system slowed down the other coach (with this system engaged), enough to manage the turn without problems. It also ment that the driver could steer along the the track as planned. The other driver steered even more, but the front wheels lost their grip and the coach was sliding out.
Electronic Stability Program. Basically it controls the suspension. What it does is stiffen suspension up when more weight is forced from it and holds the vehicle upright without letting the body roll around. Most cars have it now. In day to day driving you won't probably notice it but in a emergency you will.
What's more impressive to me is the stability of even the non-ESP coach at 75km/hr. Wasn't there a Toyota SUV without ESP that actually rolled over under similar conditions?
When cornering yes, its cause without ESP vehicle couldn't be controlled and was understeered. But they both entered the circle in same speed. The whole point of ESP is detecting and reducing loss of traction.

You are quite correct Luca. The ESP-system reduced the speed on the coach equipped with ESP, to enable a safe turn. The drivers were instructed to keep the same position of the throttle pedal during the whole turn. The driver of the coach without ESP tried to compensate for the drifting out by turning the front wheels more, but without success. I know this, because I supervised the tests. Bertil Forslund
Clear winner for me: No ESP With ESP is plain out boring XD On the other hand you can CLEARLY see that the tests are rigged in favor of the ESP-equipped vehicle.
+MancoLepanto & Don - I can assure you that nothing is faked during the tests, I was there all the time. The ESP-system is connected to both the Engine speed and the brake system, thus reducing the speed of the coach together with individual wheel brake application in critical conditions. In the first test you can see this when the coach to the left dissapears out of the picture before the one on the right, as the ESP-system in the coach to the right has reduced the speed of the vehicle. The system takes over and the driver can not make the coach go any faster, even if he would push the gaspedal to the floor.For the second test, you can see my explanation below.

The drivers of the two coaches kept the gas pedal in the same position in both tests, so the coach without ESP continued in the same speed, which made it impossible for him to clear the obstacles. I can assure you, it is a fantastic system.
LOL right about what, You provide no facts, and only anecdotal evidence, which is wrong in it's own right. Using each break individually and at the perfect moment, reacting far faster then you can. It never gets tired or distracted or confused. Traction Control can switch power from one wheel to another, instantly, can you do that? It is not the same as simply cutting power. Anti lock again reacts far faster, and while it cannot stop as fast as a perfect stop, you are not perfect.

testing ESP on scania artic buses is also fun, particually with the turntable - accelerator cutout sensors.

wrong, what it does is to brake individually the car's wheels to prevent oversteer or understeer, it has nothing to do with the suspension.
