Has anyone been able to find the second-take audio of Lennon and McCartney working out the harmonies in "Eight Days A Week" in the studio? According to Wikipedia, that was the first song they took straight to the studio to work out, before recording. In other words, they weren't rehearsing or perfecting anything; they were writing it right there on the spot. [Lewisohn, Mark. 1988. The Complete Beatles Recording Sessions. London: Hamlyn. ISBN 0-600-61207-4.] That's audio of them *composing* the song. +Christopher Casey How's that for bringing chills!
This is from a BBC Panorama programme in 1964, on the day Liverpool won their first title under Shankly. The footage was taken before the match with Arsenal, which the Reds won 5-0.
Just shows the impact of The Beatles on everyone, tens of thousands of people singing "She Loves You" word-for-word. Today (more than 50 years later) The Beatles are still as important to so many people the world over, a lot of whom were born after they split in 1970. We love them, yeah, yeah, yeah, YEAH!
I,m an ex.pat Aston Villa fan living downunda, but how i remember standing on the Kop in the sixties.. Such passion.......a time to which we can never return.
It's like listening to 28,000 John Lennons, I'm proud to say I was there that day. We will certainly, Never, Never, Ever Walk Alone. Still a Kopite 46 years later.
1977 I won a ticket to go to Wembley. Am from Manchester but MCFC.Cheered for the Pool and Kevin. Now in Canada, just love this clip. Really looking for clips from tribute to Bill Shankly after his death, the most moving thing I ever saw. Can anyone help me and keep it clean please. Want to show my grandkids.
Every time I see this I think if only it could still be like this....must have been a fantastic atmosphere!..No wonder Liverpool were virtually unbeatable at Home:)
With a user name like that I expected you to be a L'pool fan, took me by surprise being Milan. I WAS actually alive in the 60s and I was a Beatles fan then, thanks to my teenage sister, and I still am today!
@sp1ink I'm 56 and not worried about being "cool" lol but I would give anything to go back to the GREAT atmosphere that the terraces generated. Ask those 28,000 Kopites behind that goal and I bet none of them would rather sit in a silent, sanitised Stadium.
Cheers M8, always liked the reds after my first love, Celtic. Check out Celtic singing ynwa in 1970 on youtube ''ynwa 1970 Celtic v Leeds'' We all know it's your song and that we pinched it after our euro tie in 65-66, but I hope you don't mind me saying that the 'ynwa' at the Celtic v Barcelona game in 2004 was simply sublime. It came the day after the Madrid train bombings and we showed solidarity with the victims using that wonderful song. God bless the Reds and the great folk of Merseyside
If only it was still like that! Wonderful scenes...the serried ranks of the Supporters..the wit..banter..camraderie...sigh...where did our Terraces go ..:(
Always wondered about them, but I don't think any were ever really that interested in football. There is a scene in the 'Let It Be' movie where Macca talks about the then current First Division as I recall. Yes, I had heard that if he had to choose, then Everton were his team.
Looked, but can't spot him. What time on the video does his face come up? Do you notice the ghostlike bloke who appears at 0.27.His appearance and skin tone makes him look incongruous with the surroundings as if he's been put there from another clip. His far off face appears in a blur on 7-11 secs too.
Liverpool 5 Arsenal 0, the following Monday morning the Liverpool Daily Post did their match report which included this little ditty. "They seek him there, they seek there. Those Gunners sought him everywhere. Is he in the middle ? Where has he gone? That Darned illusive IAN ST JOHN"
as a young season ticket holder i could have only wished i grew up in that era. now the kop is ruined by all sorts of part time glory hunting fans who dont know the words to the proper songs we sing. but there is still a good load of us that are still there singing all game every game in block 304, 305 and 306. the future is bright.
am a liverpool fan,but it hurts me to say this but the kop these days is only about 10% scouse,a working class man on the kop is a very rare sight these days, you give the the right for the working class people liverpool to go the match again, then youll see an real spion kop atmosphere!
Well said Kopite. The Young ones of Today do not know what Football and The Communities are about and never will. Its a sad end to Modern Football. The only 1 Good Thing to come out of The Modern Day. Is All Seated Stadiums. You have really stated Facts as More and More Supporters of LFC Try to form there own groups and latch them in to Politics. "Eight Days A Week" brought me here. Yeah yeah yeah.
Me too! Ahah, great movie!!
I agree. The movie brought me here as well. Brings chills to my spine.
