  • At the base of Mount Washington are two charming family theme parks. One is a delightful Christmas park filled with holiday cheer and festive rides. The other one has a dinosaur that thinks it's a bucking bronco! One thing's for certain though, there is no shortage of family entertainment in Northern New Hampshire!
This is So Many Parks, So Little Time; a series where I document the many amusement parks I stop by this summer. Join me for some fun times, some great people, and of course the coasters. New videos every Tuesday.

The Great Humbug Adventure has actually been at the park for over 2 decades (the original building was a repurposed gift shop). They decided to completely redo the ride from the ground up recently to the point where it basically is a new ride. I'm stunned a small park would do that!
And I agree, Roar-O-Saurus is amazing.

That’s awesome! Same name and theme? I’ll have to look into the original version, but I have to commend the park, the new version looks, rides, and shoots great!

@@CivilianSatellite Yes, same name and theme. The old one had half the capacity and less tech.

Very cool! The new version feels like the kind of ride that would fit well into a park twice as large as Santa’s Village.

i haven't been there since probably like 2007 or 2008 but i do vaguely remember the original ride and i am so shocked and amazed that a park that small could get sally corp to make a whole new ride unique to that park with really cool animatronics and sets, i would love to go back and see it

storyland was built before disneyland and i think it was only bought by a company some time in the 2000s which is why it doesn't feel like a corporate park
i think the same company owns lake compounce in conncecticut too because there are ads for storyland at lake compounce

That's right! Palace Entertainment also own Kennywood, Idlewild, and Dutch Wonderland here in the US. I've been fairly disappointed with how they've been running their larger parks, but I felt their smaller parks like Story Land have been handled quite well.

@@CivilianSatellite ive never heard of any of those parks, but i'm glad they seem to care about storyland because it was part of my childhood and it still looks pretty much the same today besides the dinosaur coaster which seems awesome, i would love to go back

Rudy’s Rapid Transit is unfortunately closing at the end of this year, thankfully they are getting a new vekoma family coaster to replace it

I saw. From what I’ve seen, it’s been a beloved coaster for the locals, so it’s a shame to see it go, but at least it’s replacement will be as good or even better.

Yeah I loved the coaster, but I’m excited to see the new one!

You’ve heard boss music, yet I don’t think you’ve met the final boss XD
And Palace Entertainment does tend to focus more on its family parks overall, though the exception is here in Pennsylvania, as Kennywood seems to be the favorite child while Idlewild seems more of an afterthought.

One day there will be a showdown at SBF Visa headquarters 🤣!
I actually haven't been very impressed with how Palace has been running Kennywood. While Steel Curtain is a great coaster, I feel like the park's charm and character, which is a huge part of what makes Kennywood 'Kennywood', has taken a major hit in recent years. Also, the park's operations have been pretty bad for quite a while. At the same time though, while I haven't been to Idlewild yet, I can see how Kennywood would garner more attention from corporate between the two.

My thoughts on how Palace has run Kennywood have always been mixed. On the one hand, they keep the coasters in immaculate condition, and have restored both Noah’s Ark and the Old Mill to their former glory. On the other hand, while there is still a lot of old school charm, it is a far cry from what I remember growing up.
And as for Idlewild, when you do finally make it there, I guarantee a lot of it will remind you of Dutch Wonderland, given its theming and demographic (heck, they have a statue of Dutch Wonderland’s Duke in the Storybook Forest castle). Though some improvements have been evident over the past few years, it too is a different park than what I remember growing up.
And as for that showdown, should we start a GoFundMe to get you there? XD

Both excellent points on restoring Noah's Ark and Old Mill, as well as some of the charm the park has retained. It just makes it all the more frustrating when they do things like IP reliance and the 4 classic ride removals. But credit where credit is due.
I do hope to check out Idlewild, if only for the weird wild mouse and the muse for Boulder Dash with the goofy looking trains.
I was actually thinking a Rocky IV style training montage would be the best way to get me to the showdown!!!
