  • In this video we will walk you slowly, step by step, through the Learn-to-play instructions for setting your first ever game of Arkham Horror: The Card Game. We show you what the cards and tokens you need will look like so you can find them easily. We talk you though both setup for the Investigators and then for scenario one of the Night of the Zealot campaign - The Gathering. Why not follow along with us on your mobile device. The keyboard shortcut for Pause on TH-cam is K. If you are new to Living Cardgames this is a great first step.

    Good work! This is a better explanation than FF's setup guide.

    3:03 It's important to note that the set aside 2 monsters (flesh eater, icy ghoul) are also shuffled into the encounter deck at 5:11. The scenario setup should really call these out specifically, because it's something that is very easy to miss. Yes, you might argue that because they have an encounter back, that it's intuitive that you would so this. But the Ghoul Priest also has an encounter back, but is NOT shuffled into the encounter deck. You're doing everything according to the rules, but just something I think new players should be aware of.

      Hey friend.
      Thanks for the feedback.
      At no point do we tell you to set aside the Icy Ghoul and Flesh Eater. We are merely showing you all the cards that appear in the Gathering Encounter Set.
      Bear in mind this video was for the original core box from 2016 that did not separate the Scenario cards in the same way the new Revised Core box does.
      But please do keep your feedback coming. We definitely appreciate anyone who give up their time to leave constructive comments.

    Nice job! Can you do one on organising the cards? It is a nightmare, I had to pull out a AH box from the board game!!

    As a new player to the LCG genre, I am loving these videos, thank you! Can I suggest one on keywords? Some of them can be confusing to new players, such as myself! Thanks, and keep up the good work, I'll be watching!!!

      Hi Wendy.You are the reason we do this. Not just you personally, but everyone new to LCG’s. :) By keywords do you mean aloof, fast, hunter, massive, peril, retaliate, surge, uses, exceptional and permanent. Are there any in particular you want us to start with?

    • @wendybarlow3177
      @wendybarlow3177 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! Awww thanks!! Wait, not for me personally? Gee, now this is awkward...
      But seriously, I am looking for keywords that I would find in the core set, since that is all that I have played. My friend and I have not yet ventured deeper into the madness just yet (either figuratively or financially).
      For me, this would be fast, hunter, that's all I can call off the top of my head, having only played the first part of the core campaign as of now.
      Thanks again!!

    • @ArkhamChronicle

      Hey Wendy. You should find most of those in the Core set and we go through many in our Round Sequence video 007. But we have been thinking of a FAST video. Send us a message through TH-cam and we will let you know our secret plan.

    Excellent and thank you for your video. Two QQ's: For the Fight, Evade, etc requirement. 1- If engaged with an enemy where multiple hits are required (e.g. the ghoul priest) and you want to take 3 actions, must all 3 actions be to fight or evade in order to avoid an attack of opportunity? Or must only your first action be to fight/evade. 2- For the e.g enemy mentioned in '1': In a two player game, is the health value = to 10 and, can one investigator (if lucky enough LOL...) do all the fight/damage? Is there a link, or rules paragraph I can reference for these specific 'action' questions? I was not able to locate conclusive answers in the ArkhamDB. Thank you and love your humor! :-)

    • @ArkhamChronicle
      @ArkhamChronicle  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Each time an investigator is engaged with one or more ready enemies and takes an action other than to fight, to evade, or to activate a parley or resign ability, each of those enemies makes an attack of opportunity against the investigator. It doesn’t matter which of your three actions it is.
      RR: Attack of Opportunity
      The Ghoul Priest has 5 health per investigator so a total of 10 in a two player game. This does not change even if one investigator is eliminated. This ten damage can come from any combination of sources it does not need to be 5 from each player.
      RR: Per Investigator
      Hope it helps. The best place to ask questions is one of the dedicated forums on BoardGameGeek.com or Reddit or the FFG website.

      @@ArkhamChronicle Thank you for the reply and advice.. I did in fact pose a similar question in Reddit and will double dip on BGG as there is still a little ambiguity that I'm hoping will be clarified in that question/scenario. Love your videos!!!

    Hi, thanks for this guide. It's very helpful. I've been reading how a second core is needed, especially if you want to play more than 2 players. What types of cards are actually needed from the second core set?

    • @ArkhamChronicle
      @ArkhamChronicle  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you check out our first ever video, the core set unboxing, we go through what cards you get and how many copies.

    Any tips on how to set up scenarios without spoiling the story details for yourself? I haven't played yet, but it seems like the set-up process for scenarios will always ruin the surprise of locations, creatures, etc. (Great videos, by the way! Very well-done & helpful!)

    • @ArkhamChronicle
      @ArkhamChronicle  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks for the praise.
      Unless you read the text on all the cards when setting up the scenario this won’t be a problem. You just need to look at the titles to see if you need to set anything aside. All your locations should be face down when you start and most of them will begin in play.
      Give it a try.

      @@ArkhamChronicle - Played the first core scenario with my GF & loved it! It was full of surprises even with the set-up. Looking forward to playing the next scenario---but I'm wondering if we should start deckbuilding with the player cards from my 2nd core set, and if it would cost XP to do that (since introducing even a level 0 card costs 1 XP)? Maybe people who use 2 cores usually do so from the beginning of the campaign so they don't have to spend XP on those 2nd core cards between scenarios?

    Most helpful, direct and shoirt enough guide about this game so far. Just one doubt. What about the cards levels and experience? Im confused if I should put both flashlights and such in the deck, or when/how do I do, if I exchange them for the newest level, just add them, or add and remove the lower leveled one (no idea how to identify the level in the card either). And about the experience... I just know you somehow gain it during play but can get some before play?
