Absolutely. But this report was so superficial as to be useless in a historical perspective. Anyone pretending that this war tilted on better trained troops will suffer in any future war they opine on. The real Phase 2 started around July 15th. HIMARS. The term is "shaping the battlefield". The statistics became unbelievable, with something like 200 Russian ammo depots destroyed and close to double digit command posts obliterated plus strikes deep into Crimea. Absolutely contrary to the silly graphics presented here showing the Ukrainian bombardment along the front lines. Ukraine now had the artillery advantage (longer range and greater accuracy) and extreme logistical advantage (Russia was having to resupply, relocate stockpiles, and redesign supply routes). This was on top of the manpower advantage, intelligence advantage, and "home field" advantage. Ukraine created a masterful dilemma for Putin. Lose Kherson or weaken defenses elsewhere. Zelenskyy's taunting, IMHO, made Putin choose the absolutely worst option. He sent the additional 10K+ troops into the trap that Kherson is now. Ukraine then simply struck where Russia had weakened itself the most. The Ukrainian people have done a masterful job against Russia. Courage and bravery for sure. But the story is so much more beautiful than Johnny reports here. He omits the superior governance, fluid military composition, technological superiority, political acumen, social compassion, and more. And yes, the vital role of NATO unity and unflinching generosity. Makes me wonder if Vox is aiming for a gullible audience or just turned one interview into a story....??

I can't stress enough that the Russian elite 1st Guards Tank Army was routed in the counter attack. That is the cream of the crop of Russian military designed to break through Nato lines or destroy enemy breakthrough forces. These were one of the best equipped and trained troops that routed and left hundreds of armored vehicles and tanks behind while being routed by relatively lightly armored Ukrainian troos. They have been rendered combat ineffective.
I was coming to post this. This is the one thing the video got wrong. Those weren't some inexperienced troops, the 1st GTA was stationed at Izium, that's the formation that was trained and equipped to handle western armies in a supposed NATO war. They were supposed to be some of the best the Russian army had to offer, and they routed. Yes, many of the northern units were of lower quality, but not all of them, and certainly not the 1st GTA.
@@hugovieiradasilva6657 They basically had no support and no leadership. If all you know is "the enemy is coming" and you're not receiving useful orders or intel, even the best troops will route. Russia's systemic incompetence is affecting even their elite troops.
As Ukraine re-establishes control over de-occupied territories, authorities once again have to chronicle Russian atrocities: torture facilities (everywhere), mass graves (Izyum), the absence of men (Horlivka). Russia’s war was genocidal in conception and is genocidal in practice.
It continues to astound me how inept the Russian military has been. In February we were talking about how Kyiv could fall in a matter of days. Now there's a chance that Russia will lose this war!
Russia went from taking Kiev in 3 days to begging North Korea for soldiers and ammunition. We just witnessed the worst 6 months in Russia's modern history.
I've read that the Russians are still stuck in the old Soviet mode of waging war--complete control from central command, very top-down, almost no freedom is given to the generals on the ground to carry out their own operations in real time. Coupled with the low morale of the troops and the awful logistics, this is why Russia is losing so far. Ukraine, on the other hand, has undertaken NATO-inspired reforms of its army since 2015. That means it is more decentralized in the way it wages battles, allowing generals on the ground great freedom to undertake operations in real time. That flexibility--copying straight out of Napoleon's innovations from 200 years ago--coupled with high morale among troops is what is allowing Ukraine to punch way above its size.

The only hope for Ukraine's stable future is to regain control of the South, and keep it; otherwise, the impact to their economy and security will not go away anytime soon.
The plan is to take back all sovereign territories including Crimea and Donbas. This alone would drive ruzzia in deep crisis and hopefully make it collapse just like USSR.
It was a pretty well-executed invasion. At first. What was genius was how Putin was able to put Russia in a geopolitical situation that would prevent a world war from breaking out. The initial invasion of Southern Ukraine was all in preparation for this moment. The 2nd invasion starting a true war has been in the works for the last 15+ years. Keeping Ukraine out of Nato or the EU meant Russia could invade without fear of Nato joining the fight directly. Not calling it a "war" officially also helps prevent further conflict. Really, the diplomatic prerequisites were thoroughly and cleverly thought out by the Ruski's. Seems like the logistical aspect of the war wasn't as well planned. They clearly wanted to make Ukraine surrender the entire country, just like they did with Crimea, with ideally little to no combat. The Russians didn't think they'd fight back as long as they have, and the russians dont seem to have a good backup plan. So now this is a purely conventional war that the Russians were not ready to fight.
the start of that video is the tank driving past a soldier standing behind some cover and then three people falling off the tank before it drives into the tree.
I want to thank all the western allies & it’s people especially USA for the huge support in military & economic aid. Weapons like Himars truly changed the battlefield. So did Russia. They grossly overplayed their hand while severely underestimating their opponent, and that is very rarely a winning strategy. They put all their chips on a fast blitz and when that failed, they were caught scrambling to come up with a plan B as apparently they were so cocky that they didn't bother creating one beforehand. And it was too little, too late. Too much of their best equipment and personnel were already lost while Ukraine was simultaneously getting better and better equipment from their western supporters. Russia failed on basically every measure possible when it comes to planning and execution. They almost certainly had the military power to do better and just failed to utilize it properly, for no apparent reason beyond pure hubris.

It's not too surprising at this point that Ukraine has flipped the script. Russia's strategy seemed to be predicated on the idea that they wouldn't be able to win out against the military industrial complex of the West in a protracted conflict and that's borne out. You could compare them to WW2 Germany in that respect - everything hinging on a snap victory knowing that they couldn't outproduce their enemy in the long run - but that would flatter Russian equipment and logistical capabilities. This could quickly turn into a farce, but Putin and co.'s unpredictability under threat is something to worry about as the tide increasingly turns and the Russian public's dissent grows towards the war.
@Wilhelm Eley really good way to describe it, Putin's russia is rotten to the core. There is a reason even 7 months into the war they can't mass produce armour, warplanes, missiles etc
Weird that you wouldn't mention the massive failures of the Russian air force, which is the main reason for Russia's recent defeats. They have the numbers on papers, yet something is obviously off.
The Ukrainian Air Force needs a major boost. Even 100 western trained pilots in NATO supplied fighters can make a colossal difference and could conceivably kick the Russians out of all occupied territory
Probably in the works BUT it is not as easy as just giving them planes. there is the issue of training, US pilots train hundreds of hours even before they can fly a mission. maintenance is also an issue, per hour flight those fighters require about 30 hours of preventive maintenance. I think you can push it but it is risking your fleet. Ukraine can maintain the migs but they dont currently have the capability to maintain western fighters.
@@GrimYak I think the Senate approved a bill to train Ukrainian pilots starting January. I suspect the US may also provide logistical support for the new equipment via clandestine means by using private contractors and such until the Ukrainians can take over. I do agree it's definitely gonna be a very long time before we see UAF pilots in NATO supplied fighters over Ukraine
I live in Ukraine and it’s amazing how these successful campaigns in recent weeks have raised the morale of many Ukrainians. Experiencing such events firsthand is life changing and inspiring. 🙏🙏🙏

That is the cream of the crop of Russian military designed to break through Nato lines or destroy enemy breakthrough forces.

The plan is to take back all sovereign territories including Crimea and Donbas. This alone would drive ruzzia in deep crisis and hopefully make it collapse just like USSR.
thank you for showing the world what's happening in Ukraine.
Didn't a former US President call Putin a genius and savvy for attacking Ukraine... now watching a Russian tank drive into a tree as they retreat 😂
😅😅
Didn't that someone also oppose Nord Stream 2 🤣🙃

Truly amazing. We all thought Russia would just roll over the Ukraine.
Because we believed Russian lies. But we should know that Russia always lies, gambles and cheats.

Maybe it's time to drop a bomb on Washington? And the war will end immediately. The whole world will breathe a sigh of relief.
@@GrimYak I think the Senate approved a bill to train Ukrainian pilots starting January.
