    They also have AMAZING pet cremation services that come to your door in a van, and cremate near your house in the van. You can do a simple service or the bone picking service. You choose the style of the covering of the urn too. I recently cremated my axolotl here, and they were so nice about it. I was even able to put flowers and a letter in with him. 🥺 It only cost I think 11,000 yen.

    Caitlin will you be sharing which house you guys chose from your house hunting video? I’ve been waiting for that this whole time since watching that video 😂 I had to go back through all your videos thinking maybe I had missed it! Obviously it’s your decision to share that incase you’ve changed your mind and would rather that remain private but figured I’d ask! 🤍

    I've been to Japan five times and have been trying to learn Japanese on and off since 2012. I go to a Cafe in Edinburgh most weeks and try and do conversation with at least 2/3 native speakers and others. I find it difficult to remember all the history and dates of festivals etc. The reason I first went to Japan was to go to a medical conference in Kyoto in 2012 and was lucky enough to see the Jidai Matsuri parade then. I know the Kansai region reasonably well now. There is another conference coming up in Nagoya in mid September so I'll have to plan what to in Japan in the two weeks leading up to it. I admire people who go and live in Japan. I think I'd be far too nervous to try that.

    I'm half Japanese and grew up in Tokyo, Japan and my Grandfather passed away in Japan about some-8 years ago? We actually took his body home from the hospital and kept his body there for a minimum of 24 hours before cremation/embalming! I think you may have misread that fact somewhere (or my family was up to some shenanigans...)! It was an interesting process of death, somewhat weird to have a dead body in your house, but I found it very fascinating that it wasn't treated as creepy or horrific- if that makes any sense. We had extended family visit and pay their respects and a whole bunch of other stuff I can't quite remember.
    Anyway, just wanted to also say I love your videos so much and you're the only TH-camr who I have notifications turned on for... lol!
    I moved to the U.S. 7 years ago and your videos make me miss my home country and family very much- in a good way:) thank you for posting them

    • @44ClubPenguin44
      @44ClubPenguin44 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Oh, also! I have always loved any of your shopping/haul videos. I think they are the most nostalgic for me, so I might be biased :D.
      And the vending machine thing is so true. I would walk my dog nightly and we'd run into dozens of them per mile just in the SUBURBAN areas. I've heard some of them are owned and stocked by the closest house to it? I am not sure if that's always true, though.
      My Mom owns a GIANT tanuki that she keeps right outside her front door. It's about 4/4.5 feet tall? and has massive testes. It's hilarious and adorable to me, but a lot of my American friends think it's weird and perverted! Cultural differences, lol!

    • @heratlas
      @heratlas  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      YES I misspoke - it's a minimum of 24 hours** Someone else helped catch that, thank you! Thank you for sharing your experience with your grandfather. With my dad they kept him at the hospital until the funeral home came to pick him up. Death is a weird experience any way you experience it to me… I have trauma from ours. Yours seems so much more peaceful. Did you attend the cremation ceremony. One of my friends told me about her experience and it was VERY DIFFERENT from ours in the states!!

    • @44ClubPenguin44
      @44ClubPenguin44 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@heratlas Yes, I did attend! I had a strange childhood and only attended school for 2 years in Japan and so I spoke very little Japanese but could understand a bit more. Because of this, my experience with the ceremony was a bit confusing and disorienting, lol! I just kind of followed along with the rest of my family.
      I remember a part of the process was to cover him with some ceremonial rags, and I think we covered his feet, hands, and hip area? I believe he also had ceremonial garb on his lower body. The cremation process took a while, and when it was over we took a very long pair of (ceremonial?) chopsticks to pick up the large pieces of bone that were not turned to ash in the process and placed it into an ornate box. I believe they put the ashes into a separate urn, though I am not entirely sure!
      We stayed in a very old, traditional, and frankly, terrifyingly haunted, building/temple during the funeral process. We were there for at least two days! They actually served shark fin soup- I was told it was tradition for funerals but I could not make myself try it. :S
      I am so sorry about your fathers passing, I hope at the very least it gets easier with time. I was not very close with my Grandfather- he had a complicated relationship with his children (my Mother being one of them) so I did not know how to feel about him. It made his passing easier for me, but regardless, it was painful to see someone, let alone a relative, pass away. I wish you the best in healing

      @heratlas I have a question. Your Son was born in Japan but had to get a US citizenship. Does that mean in the future he would need to apply for a visa if he wants to live in Japan or since he was born in Japan, he's given a permanent residency card?

    If everyone is cremated but the yukata left over right rule applies because the other way around is for people who are to be buried, then are some people buried? Or is it for people who have died and are about to be cremated?

    You're mistaken. By Japanese law, you can NOT cremate or bury within 24 hours after death.
