Welcome to Phnom Penh! This Cambodian capital is positioned in the southern region of Cambodia, and is mostly known as the fastest growing metropolitan area in the country. In this episode, we share our adventure travel day from Vientiane, Laos to Phnom Penh with Vietnam Airlines. From our economy class experience with Vietnam Airlines and applying for a visa-on-arrival in Cambodia, to our frustrating check-in at our Airbnb apartment in Phnom Penh and getting settled in the city, this vlog shares the simplicities and complications of our first day in Cambodia's capital city.

HOW is the Cambodian Riel "absolutely worthless"? You can spend it inside Cambodia.
😂 You can spend it at most places in Cambodia 🇰🇭 although they all want US Dollars. 💵 But it’s worthless when trying to exchange when leaving the country. Most places will not exchange it for legitimate currencies. Facts.

Did you have to show them two passport pictures? Says online you have to, but don't know how true that is.
I always bring multiple passport photos for visas-on-arrival, but I didn’t have to give ANY photos for Cambodia’s 🇰🇭 visa. They only care about cash in US Dollars! 💵 And they also have ATMs at immigration.
Do you know if it is notified upon arrival, can it be extended for 12 months? thank you
I’m not sure about your question? The visa-on-arrival is paid when you arrive. The validity period is different for different nationalities. You should check about your visa options before you travel to Cambodia. 🇰🇭
In my experience in Cambodia most places give back USD except for the last dollar will be in Riel. I Have been traveling or the last 12 years and used Air BandB a lot when I started. Never again. To many problems like you had. Plus they are adding higher fees in the end it ends up costing more.
It’s definitely 💯 a concern in some Southeast Asia countries. Plus, hotels are usually just as cheap or cheaper in those places. I still like Airbnb for longer stays unless the hotel rates are so low that I can dine out for every meal. This is our current situation. We just order cheaper take out food and have the tranquility of hotel life. 😂

Only “real” money is precious metals. U.S. paper money is not real money either. It isn’t backed by anything anymore.
I’m aware of the backing of U.S. money, but it’s still the most accepted paper currency in the world because it’s backed by the world’s strongest economy, and that currency can be exchanged in every country.
Other paper currencies do not have that spending power, which I presume you already know.
What about "bitcoin" and "wifecoin?"

Hallo what are current requirements when entering Cambodia? Are they pretty much the same as before Covid? If not, I had a booster shot over a year ago, is that still valid? Thanks.
I paid a visa fee and that was all. I don’t think we were asked about vaccination status.
thanks for video. do yo know please in Cambodia tourist visa extension if "expiry date: 2 August" does it mean 2 August (being day 60th since enter in that case) is still a full valid day to leave no overstay issues ?
If the visa Expiry is 2 August, you need to leave that day. If that is your final day, you can leave anytime before 12:00 midnight.
So they keep usd. Yes currency not recognised at other places.
It’s quite annoying throughout Laos. 🇱🇦 Banks and money changers will sell Laos Kip for USD, but you will never be able to get USD 💵 outside of that Maxim store in the Vientiane airport. But there are scammers trying to sell old USD cash 💵 for a higher value. It’s a black market scam because you cannot use old American 🇺🇸 cash outside of the USA. 🇺🇸
@Kentuckians Abroad you are right, I sold my 100 usd notes (old), the exchange guy does not accept...ouch. so I took a big cut for ringgit near my area.
