Every time you talk about GLOC, I think to myself "I'd really like to see GS get a ride along with some demo squadron." If you get to a million subs, I bet that's something that could happen! Would you do it?
That first engagement... Ole Spider gonna have to go to base and explain why there was a tumbleweed in his intake! Damn, that was crazy! The second round... if y'all got any closer, you would need to mount bayonets!
Toxic’s ability to compete with GS is just very impressive. Now what would have happened if Toxic was in the thrust verctoring f22 against GS in su-47.
For any anime enthusiasts here, this is basically like the YF-19 vs YF-21 from Macross Plus as I think the Su-47 and YF-23 are the closest real world planes to those 2 in terms of body shape.
I always thought the Grumman X-29 may have also had some influence. It was a NASA test aircraft but had the forward swept wings. The YF-21 real life counterpart is the YF-23. Can’t help but hear Sharon Apple singing when I see it. Great video.
One of the issues in forward swept wing is it being very demanding on wing strength: Lifting force tries to bend/twist wing in a way which increases angle of attack and hence lift in wingtip, which again increases force bending/twisting wing. And the higher the speed, the stronger the effect.
Gray YF-23 is the Spider and the black one is the Gray Ghost. On the inside of the front landing gear panel on the black YF-23 in the National Museum of the USAF it says Gray Ghost.
I think it's still a shame the Air Force went for the F22 instead of the F23: even better stealth, more range and higher super cruise speed. And it's quite the dogfighter as well.
YF-23 did have some quite crippling flaws such as the inlet ducts slightly exposing the compressor blades at a certain lower angle, which would completely ruin stealth at that certain angle. Along with reliability issues and the fact that the canopy would crack when reaching higher speeds which is why they never flew it past Mach 1.85
At the time Northtrop won B-2 program. Lockheed was a comfortable choice not to give too much credit to one company that could fail in delivery of 2 most important planes in Air Force history.
love listening to you talk through position placement throughout the fight its really good, I enjoy those parts, good for learning....there's so much more to dogfighting than people realise
Probably the only time I'm happy when GS did not win - I just can't cheer against the YF-23 - it's just a gorgeous piece of alien technology. Thanks for an amazing video!!
The YF-23 is fairly close to what is expected out of a 6th gen. 6th gen fighters are going to have a greater focus on stealth, speed and range over agility.
Toxic really bringing the fight today. popped you after chasing to like 2 feet off the ground, and round 3 just needed you to lose track of him for 3 seconds to get total advantage.
The USAF should have bought both of these airframes. Make the -23 a deep interdictor with it's stealth and the -22 as the escort. What a killer combo! I'd love to see a strike mission setup with like a pair of 22s, a pair of 23s, going after an HVT in Russia with state-of-the-art defenses. That'd be sweet!
A couple days or weeks ago over Eglin Airforce Base there was a photo taken of a diamond shaped airplane that looks really similar to the YF-23 (though obviously different). Although in the picture it can be seen with only a single afterburning engine. It was said to have been the size of a C-130 but slender like a B-21 Raider. Very very curious as to what it was.
GS - It seems like Toxic might have your number in a one circle. It might help that he's not explaining the fight while he fights it, but he sure seems to get his share of kills.
I wish the US had bought the F-23 in the light stealth bomber roll to take advantage of its superior stealth and speed. That would leave air dominance to the F-22, something it excels at.
I want to quickly thank you GS for always putting out amazing videos. Thanks to you I am going to pursue my dream of becoming a Air Force fighter pilot. I love your channel and all your videos. Please keep up the good work and make more content on the F-35!
Wow.... Toxic flies really well. The 1st Kill by Toxic @ 3:16: Gs was like "trying not to hit the ground here." On the other hand, Toxic was literally skiing on the ground gunning him down.
Great Video. Two of the coolest looking planes ever. If I saw a movie that posited that this is what fighters would look like in 50 years I'd have no problem with it. Nice work GS!
They maybe on fire, out of control in a death spiral with no hydraulics and half a wing missing but always always shoot'm in the face, just to be sure.
This made me think of that meme: "Drive me closer, I want to hit them with my sword!" The YF-23 is just a beast. If not for that little mistake in the second round, it would have been a sweep.
Both are such beautiful aircraft, and this was a fantastic idea for a video. I've gotta say though imo the black widow wins both in mind as the most beautiful and most deadly.
Your past few videos have reminded me that utter silence followed by "krackathooom!", and "ksh-splortch!"are the principle performers in the GS orchestra.
Keep up the good work on the YF-23, I've been waiting to see this aircraft in any sort of simulation because of it's beauty and such a radical design. Very futuristic indeed, good work.
Just Grumman found out with the X-29, while forward swept wings to enhance maneuverability at low speed, they can prone to flutter at higher speeds. Grumman tried to counter that with how the carbon fiber was layered for the wings but in high speed, high G situations, it could still happen.
what a fantastic fight! That close in was just crazy! Although I did find it odd that GS kept looking back over his shoulder just in time to see 20mm entering his canopy...
@GrowlingSidewinder The dark grey YF-23A (PAV-1) is actually Gray Ghost and the light grey one (PAV-2) is Spider. They have their names painted on the inside of their nose wheel bay doors which can be seen in left side photos of the airframes on the ground. But yeah, another great video! Your recent dogfights have been so insanely tight, I keep expecting KIA by mid-air collision, haha
Fantastic fight(s). I love the camera work you guys put into your videos BTW. Also dig the Berkut quite a bit, that aircraft just looks so wicked and deadly; a proponent of the Kill-o-Zap design school definitely had a hand in it somewhere along the way.

Can you set russian speech informant and hud on ru planes? It will be more authentic
Every time you talk about GLOC, I think to myself "I'd really like to see GS get a ride along with some demo squadron." If you get to a million subs, I bet that's something that could happen! Would you do it?
FELON VS BLACKWIDOW
Day 84 asking for F-22 vs 10 MiG 21
6:22 “Too close for guns, switching to bayonets”
Lol. You win the internet today. 🎉
🤣🤣🤣
Belkans Witchcraft...
This isn't Macross Plus, we didn't put bayonets on the frakking gunpods!
@@wilemelliott Always that one guy, without a sense of humour or an imagination. ..
That canopy-to-canopy pass actually made me gasp.
stuff for top gun maneuvers
I unintentionally gasped and tensed up! That was startling haha
I thought they were going to collide for sure.
YF-23 giving the bird or keeping up relations
The near ground strike in the first round followed by the almost mid air collision on the second round…..pushing the envelope and super intense!
The golden goose of aviation videos this week. Thanks, GS.
Every time I see it, all I can think is; it is criminal the YF-23 didn't go to serial production.
Maybe the Navy's NGAD
Agreed.
Hell even just a squadron of them, and a few extras for air shows and show of force demos.
@@XiaOmegaX I think that should have been what happened to the F-22 imo. Its sexy too, but YF-23 looks like alien technology.
@@1lostinspace I know the reason, but I still hate it 🤣
Now I'm convinced that the YF-23 has some sort of head-targeting system
It's the John Wick of fighter jets.
I won't forget that sound anytime soon.
Then you haven't watched enough of older videos of GS...
That splat sound is just about enough to make you puke.
Any hit from 20mm might as well be a head shot.
That blk widow driver is nuts. 3:16, he’s basically on the ground and still shooting. Id just be trying to survive at that point.
Every time I see this from the SU-47 perspective, I'm like "someone answer the god damn phone!"
lol!
i wish he'd lower it a bit in comparison to his voice 😁
Does the shukois actually have warning sound like that?
🤣 you made my day
LOL I thought I was the only one thinking that 😂
The YF-23 reminds me of those squirrel suits that base-jumpers wear, it is cool looking
That first engagement... Ole Spider gonna have to go to base and explain why there was a tumbleweed in his intake! Damn, that was crazy!
The second round... if y'all got any closer, you would need to mount bayonets!
YF-23 winning against a Su-47 is a great demonstration of its dogfighting abilities.
Toxic’s ability to compete with GS is just very impressive. Now what would have happened if Toxic was in the thrust verctoring f22 against GS in su-47.
"Hydraulics failure"
GS "I NEED THAT"
"Thank You to Toxic for flying". Couldn't agree more.
For any anime enthusiasts here, this is basically like the YF-19 vs YF-21 from Macross Plus as I think the Su-47 and YF-23 are the closest real world planes to those 2 in terms of body shape.
Zoom zoom
Macross Plus FTW
They’re fighting in a desert so might as well be the New Edward’s flight center
Ew anime

Lifting force tries to bend/twist wing in a way which increases angle of attack and hence lift in wingtip, which again increases force bending/twisting wing.
And the higher the speed, the stronger the effect.
Also having the wing torsionaly stiffer to prevent tip stall
Gotta love the falling leaf style of a 5th gen dogfight.
Put a string on the black widow and call it a kite it seems to just float around effortlessly at any speed
Su 47 my beloved. It was very cool seeing these 2 go at it.
Man, those hero shots of the YF-23 at the end were epic. That aircraft is beyond gorgeous.
Gray YF-23 is the Spider and the black one is the Gray Ghost. On the inside of the front landing gear panel on the black YF-23 in the National Museum of the USAF it says Gray Ghost.
8:59 that touch of panic while saying: "Oh he's back there!" 🤣🤣🤣
I think it's still a shame the Air Force went for the F22 instead of the F23: even better stealth, more range and higher super cruise speed.
And it's quite the dogfighter as well.
Ive been pissed about this for years
YF-23 did have some quite crippling flaws such as the inlet ducts slightly exposing the compressor blades at a certain lower angle, which would completely ruin stealth at that certain angle. Along with reliability issues and the fact that the canopy would crack when reaching higher speeds which is why they never flew it past Mach 1.85
Can’t blame them for choosing the Raptor, but in a more ideal scenario they should have chosen both
At the time Northtrop won B-2 program. Lockheed was a comfortable choice not to give too much credit to one company that could fail in delivery of 2 most important planes in Air Force history.
Lo único malo que hizo esa fuerza aérea fue desarrollar el f35
This is officially the most ace combat dcs video
5:44 My two favorite What-ifs high-fiveing one another! Not something you see everyday!
JFYI SU-47 was an experimental aircraft. Sukhoi tested and demonstrated its technologies to potential buyers.
Thanks for this Dubai Air Show!
love listening to you talk through position placement throughout the fight its really good, I enjoy those parts, good for learning....there's so much more to dogfighting than people realise
That Toxic is a heck of a DCS Pilot!
Probably the only time I'm happy when GS did not win - I just can't cheer against the YF-23 - it's just a gorgeous piece of alien technology. Thanks for an amazing video!!
Question is; what is Gen6 gonna bring us ? I'm thinking missile tech is going to be so advanced that BVR will never see a merge.
Have to admit the guy he was flying against was amazing. I’d like to see them flying the same aircraft and go at it.
Thank you for this one GS!! In my warped Macross mind, now we have the YF-19 vs. the YF-21.
You guys are making a good case for fighter jets having swords.
Please can we see YOU in the YF23? I love your content man ❤

Wow.... Toxic flies really well. The 1st Kill by Toxic @ 3:16: Gs was like "trying not to hit the ground here." On the other hand, Toxic was literally skiing on the ground gunning him down.
The constant alarm chattering frum the SU-47 is making my brain melt.
Toxic really is just aiming for the cockpit nowadays…
Double Tap - it's the only way to be sure!
Hi, can you make a video with F15 Stol and F16 XL ?
Su 47 vs X 29 would be a cool dogfight if possible idk what aircraft are in dcs
5:59 feels like a "Because we were inverted.." moment
Great Video. Two of the coolest looking planes ever. If I saw a movie that posited that this is what fighters would look like in 50 years I'd have no problem with it. Nice work GS!
That flat scissor canopy to canopy, made my jaw hit the floor!
A super maneuverable VS a super stealth…
Great video. Great job, Toxic. Super scary good flying, GS.
Most athletic and cinematic dogfighting I've seen in a while. It's like these birds were meant to fly in the same skies
Those two aircrafts are drop dead gorgeous, great job guys!!! 😁👍
Damn, those extended warranty people just keep calling!
They maybe on fire, out of control in a death spiral with no hydraulics and half a wing missing but always always shoot'm in the face, just to be sure.
The YF23 reminds me of a flying squirrel.
Well, as whole it's mostly big lifting body.
Real wing loading must have been quite small.
"Aircraft is pretty unrespo..." Looks like we need some more crisply folded flags. Great content as always. GS Rocks!!!
Imagine a Real Air Force Pilot doing these videos like vlogs and being this calm lmao
The both of you are phenomenal pilots. I could watch you two dogfight all day.
5:57 one of the most badass moments I’ve seen on this channel. Bravo!
Thanks for trying what I suggested. Absolutely amazing to see the two aircraft get so close.
The Black Widow looks more bird-like while maneuvering than most any other aircraft, imo.
4:05 holy shit that merge was awesome, beautiful image of the YF23 too
This made me think of that meme: "Drive me closer, I want to hit them with my sword!" The YF-23 is just a beast. If not for that little mistake in the second round, it would have been a sweep.
Is the X-29 available? Forward sweep vs forward sweep!
it doesnt have any guns
Always a fun video when you fly against Toxic. 🤣
Yay 😁! Thanks so much GS! I'vr bren asking for this for so long.
God i love the YF-23s look so much such a super cool design
That felt like something right out of an ace combat boss fight.
Very cool.
I’d love to see a bandit unknown video with the Flanker-E.
Both of this aircraft are not beautyfull at the ground but looks absolutely stunning in air
Dang I swear these just keep getting more entertaining. You could’ve reached out and exchanged Grey Poupon in that second round. Incredible!
Hot damn, talk about knife fight in a phone booth.
Both are such beautiful aircraft, and this was a fantastic idea for a video. I've gotta say though imo the black widow wins both in mind as the most beautiful and most deadly.
The fact that you can have 2 planes look criminally good pose as a decent matchup against each other is like a masterpiece artwork
Bro 5:20 the YF-22 literally just floats in the air like that is insane that it can do that and then level out so fast..... holy smokes thats awesome
That "splat" noise is hilarious !
This was fantastic! Some epic flying. At the risk of sounding corny, the way that YF-23 flies is elegant.
Man, thanks for taking requests from your fans!!
The way the Grey Ghost dances with the Berkut looks actually so amazing...
That end shot of the YF engines, looked like the devil just said "waddup" as he took a life, literally.. great work as per
Fantastic move “falling” maneuvering away from you/your nose in that first round for sure 👍 ✅ 👌!!
That super close range gun kill replay looked like a scene out of a movie
Your past few videos have reminded me that utter silence followed by "krackathooom!", and "ksh-splortch!"are the principle performers in the GS orchestra.
More YF-23 content. This was such a cool fight!!
9:55 Freaking beautiful aircraft. I hope NGAD looks like this.
Keep up the good work on the YF-23, I've been waiting to see this aircraft in any sort of simulation because of it's beauty and such a radical design. Very futuristic indeed, good work.
Saw the Grey Ghost at the Air Force museum. She is quite the impressive lady!
573k subs every one earned. Enjoy the content :)

6:00 all I heard was top guns "been here the whole time"
what a fantastic fight! That close in was just crazy! Although I did find it odd that GS kept looking back over his shoulder just in time to see 20mm entering his canopy...
6:02 That would make a one of a kind wallpaper...

My two favorite concept/experimental aircraft!
Two of my two favorite aircraft facing off against each other, this was an awesome fight my dude
